a baseline taunt, something akin to tier 5 competative rep ability but as baseline for tanks, you can even do it so that ability works as taunt when tanking but as an aggro dump when not tanking.

yeah, how's that gonna work in space?

what are you supposed to do - hail them and call them all sorts of mean names? annoy the **** out of them by blasting a justin beiber song over their comm system?

hack their targeting sensor maybe? I meant "taunt" as a gameplay mechanic not literally taunt them, so EW is a viable option. there's some half-hearted efforts of such already in game but they're either too weak or limited in function.

now give us the new time travel episode with scotty...

cryptic: we need 3 hours captain
    captn: you have 2 hours
cryptic: we do it in 1 ... ^^

If it were real time travel, it'd be more like:
Cryptic: We need 3 hours, Captain!
    Captn: You have 2 hours!
Cryptic: We did it 3 hours ago.
Captn: I know, why are you... You changed the timeline again, didn't you?
    Cryptic:

Well, any bets on how long it will be that the Miracle Worker powers are nerfed after they sell a boatload of Miracle Worker ships?

    Wild guess, 3 months?

Intel felt like it survived for quite a while and is still decent, versatile and fun; command - was that ever any good? some powers there are completely worthless and nonsensical, it even received buffs but I don't think it was enough - temporal might have not lasted very long or at least my finally getting around to playing with these fun science powers has so far not been exactly stellar with EPG boosted decently on carriers and raiders, so that's the trend I'm going by.

Provide free good things for F2P, release OP things, nerf everything after a good sales run, and sell it back in another form. Surely there must be some other model for F2P game expansion that doesn't feel like robbery, keeps it profitable, and actually expands the end-game in a desirable and positive way for everyone.

Ok... a 'tanking' specialty? I thought STO didn't do the RPG role trinity .

I wish it did, I hate the mindless DPS race and the only reliable way to discourage it is to have mobs with abilities that can one-shot squishy DPS so that tanks are required, and enough group wide damage to make dedicated healers a requirement.

They probably gotta sweet up the gains to get this new spec as a meta or nerf others to make this a viable choice. Intel, Strategist, Commando and Temporal are still on top of their game and nerfing them would break the game. Game design conundrums for Cryptic!

That works well if you have a very wide community with active queue players. Incentives to play first, mobs that require varied party then. Not the other way around. Cause they're gonna kill the gameplay.

Thinking in advance became a rare virtue in 2017. Foreseeing is already a superpower...

Cryptic's focus is on single player content, and most of that content is "casual friendly".

You would need to focus on social interaction. Then create content with an emphasis on team-play (including communicating and interacting with your team) with strict fail-states for not achieving the correct balance of class composition in that team content. That would necessitate a revamp of the queues so that your PUG had the correct number of "class archetypes" before the mission starts. In other words, you would need a whole new game.

And...another pointless grind bar raise, in order to make way for a new type of BOFF Spec seating, so they can sell (they hope) a new round of ships.

The only way this would be good, is if it leads to T6 Miracle Worker seating 23c. Connie, D-7 and T'Liss ships in the C-Store. After all, the original Star Trek "Miracle Worker" was Scotty...who just happens to be in the screenshot in the blog post.

    "No bloody A, B, C, OR D!"

    :)

I'll bite if it includes the Ambassador, Kamarag, and Steamrunner.

Oooo, what if it's the proper, probert ambassador?! Yus please. But specialization ships are almost always "cryptic original" trek-inspired ships. I'm just curious if they might lean toward the constitution or galaxy styling of the two miracle worker's they have on display.

That's already in the game in the form of the Guardian class.

What an offensive thing to say, the guardian is no where near as pretty as the proper Andrew Probert ambassador, lol. Although if they were to make a proper Probert skin for it, I could finally take that ship out of mothballs.

Who remembers Scotty or Geordi being epic melee combatants?

Geordi? Not so much. But Scotty?

Who started a bar room brawl against a room full of Klingons in The Trouble With Tribbles?

Who was thrilled to grab a Claymore and melee Klingons on the Enterprise in Day of the Dove?

Who tried to beat up the god Apollo single-handedly? (Admittedly, the thunderbolt stopped him quickly, but still.)

Who physically attacked a probe (Nomad) that fired shots equivalent to 90 photon torpedoes? (Admittedly, it's screens stopped him quickly, but still.)

Who butchered a bunch of Argelians with a knife? (Admittedly, he was possessed by Jack the Ripper at the time, but still.)

Scotty didn't shy away from melee.

Well then, I guess this specialization is primarily focused on the original miracle worker. I personally don't care for melee in this game, it just seems so ineffective by comparison. So maybe this specialization will make melee better for me, or that will just be the sacrificial portion of this spec for me... almost all specs are a mixed bag of some very useful and some not at all useful.

Scotty did NOT kill those women. Hengist did and put the knife in Scotty's hand.

Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

Well I would have to respectfully disagree with that. Not only does the Guardian not have the option to use the Ambassador skins, but the T6 Fleet Guradian doesn't have the same 'balanced' console slots as the T5U Fleet Support Cruiser, not to mention the Guardian is not a support cruiser.

T6 Fleet Guardian has 3/5/3 slots, while the T5U Fleet Support Cruiser has 3/4/4 which is one more science slot than the Guardian.

Technically, Hengist was in his gaseous "fear-feeding" form (otherwise, the whole thing would have been pointless), and he was later shown to be able to possess others (the Prefect). But point taken, and I withdraw the statement. Possessed or not, Scotty at least didn't kill Sibo. Thanks for calling that to my attention, you are quite right.

Most of my argument was meant tongue-in-cheek, though. Except for the two Klingon examples, none of them showed Scotty at his best in melee. Against Klingons though, he kicks butt - and Klingons admire that!

Arc can't recognize the game on my computer, even though it has been previously installed. This needs to be fixed.

"Logic Bomb" should be called "EMP Bomb". Does the same thing one would expect an EMP to do.

After all this time, it still hurts. *sigh*

Anyway, when these expected "miracle" ships come out I'm gonna make a rainbow tank with every omni-beam I can fit in it. I will laugh at the attempts to kill me and FAW like no man has FAWed before. Sure it will take hours complete a mission, but I will have fun.

Great a tanking/ healing spec that will further make Engineers irrelevant and drop them farther behind the other two class in terms of effectiveness in the current meta. Engineers continually get the short stick in this game.

Is anyone else missing the Miracle Qualification in Officer Training from R&D?
im already 19 points into the spec and still nothing to train officers (it is listed i should be able to at 10points)

Shouldnt this have come live with completeing the New mission - "Melting Pot"?
i know the Pilot Qualification came with mission "Delta Flight"
