Wait, have you really spent thousands of pounds on STO? Whenever I've spent real money it's always been for stuff that is persistent (as opposed to consumables like keys) such as the LTM when it was discounted or expansion packs.
I did wonder if it would be the Ambassador since with the Excelsior that's the last Enterprise not to get a legendary variant, despite them both already having T6 versions. I think a lot of players will be very upset if it's not a Nova, to be honest.
I have to say, the presence of the legendary Excelsior in this bundle makes a lot of sense. I think for a lot of players the make-or-break decision is what the fourth ship will be; I suspect if it's anything other than a legendary Nova a lot of players are going to be very upset.
Isn't the dilithium you get worth less than the cost of the zen needed for the buyout in the first place, especially with the exchange rate being so bad right now?
Well whenever any new content comes out demand for Zen will spike, what's difficult to predict is by how much prices will rise. Because they were already high to begin with the profit margins from buying zen low to selling high weren't as high as they otherwise would have been.
The worst thing they can do is raise the exchange cap unless they also raise the daily refining limit (and dil rewards) by a corresponding amount so things remain balanced. Of course that does nothing for existing dilithium stockpiles, especially since they removed the best rewards in the admiralty system.
I started when the game went to FTP too, went LTM a couple of years later during one of the sales and I don't regret it. It's only been though running a dozen characters constantly refining dilithium that I've been able to convert useful quantities of Zen, which has become more difficult as of late. I've only been using it…
From that perspective it sounds like it would only benefit Cryptic if they raised the cap on how many ship slots you could buy for that very same reason. EDIT: Of course, offering something that would also benefit future characters might also tempt more players into buying extra character slots if it makes building those…
Since the only thing in this pack of interest to me is the ship, I'd be more inclined to purchase this if the ship was on offer as a standalone purchase at the normal ship price, instead of as part of a bundle of things I don't particularly care about.
Just as I think I've got a handle on it (mastering the MU dreadnought), suddenly 5 new ships (4 in the last 24 hours) come along. Buyable account-wide ship slots would be very useful right about now.
With the release of 5 new ships (4 in the last 24 hours) there's certainly plenty of content to get stuck into, mastering those ships on multiple characters is not a trivial effort.
I'm certainly glad about this. I've been waiting for a ship to come along that I can actually spend my ship tokens on so it was a no-brainer. Finding room on my rosters for it and the ones from the multi-pack, on the other hand...
Believe it or not Martok was only in 22 episodes, it seems like it should be more. Most of the music isn't bad, but the one for this event hurts my ears.
Is it the Battle near Xahea? The one where the repair drone from a couple of events ago was first actually seen? I can see the challenges of making it happen but it's one battle I'd love to get stuck into.
The thing with this ship is that I already own all the ships whose consoles this comes with, so really it all comes down to the starship trait and whether it's worth bothering with: Account Unlocked Trait: Assault Formation Theta Upon reaching level 6 in this starship's mastery, you will unlock the Assault Formation Theta…
It's telling that they're currently running more frequent double-XP weekends to make it quicker to master all these new ships. With 10 ships and 7 characters that can use them, I'm going to be very busy! :D
I've only recently been using singularity powers after a long time without since I spent most of my Romulan time mastering non-Romulan ships and occasionally found a warbird I'd missed when switching.
