I love all these ideas. "It's a FAAAAKE!" I know Vreenak is dead but no reason you couldn't use the same actor for another Romulan character. Maybe a relative?
What if when you made a new Fed character it would start with him reading the opening monologue... "Space...the final frontier....these are...your voyages..." Chills!
The items would only exist on the pvp zone. You wouldn't be able to bring items into pvp or out of it. Some progression of gear, provided the power increases were small, wouldn't be a bad thing. How about this... You could buy gear but if you were defeated it would either be destroyed or be lootable by enemy players.
I'm not as pessimistic about pve AI improvements as you are. I don't think you'd need to do them all at once either. One season you add the enemy behavior of abandoning ship from time to time instead of just blowing up. Next season you add enemy ships occassionally retreating when they've lost. Next season you add enemies…
Don't waste your time tweaking the bust slider. The minimum size if fine as is. There are other character creation areas that merit attention first. However if you're determined I'd say as long as I can go back and fix my character and return it to were it was then I don't have a problem as long as I get prior warning.
Well making an NPC smarter isn't always making them tougher. For instance NPCs that retreat or surrender are smarter but not harder. Also NPCs are so easy to kill right now when leveling that making them smarter wouldn't seriously threaten players. At max level this might be different and then some adjustment to NPC power…
I tried STO pvp again recently and started a thread about my experience in PvP section of the forum. Sorry but I doubt I will be returning to pvp in STO again.
That's good to hear. I've been leveling a new character and I've found the space battles hard to stay awake through. It's just the same thing over and over. Wish it could be a bit more varied in AI actions, combat animations, etc.
I agree with general sentiment here. The dialogue for the Romulans doesn't capture the right tone. Removing slang words and altering folksy dialogue would go along way toward fixing this.
Woaw guys...if they improved the AI naturally you'd have to rebalance enemy ship strength. The first 10 levels in STO are ridiculously easy. You dont even have to watch your screen to win battles. Just hit the space bar repeatedly and you could be watching TV not even paying attention (I've tested this). For new players…
I've got the graphics cranked to max and believe me I've tried to use the editor. You just don't have much choice when it comes to eyes, mouth, nose etc. That means your toon (unless you make them freakish) will look pretty much like everyone elses. Now check out this short vid highlighting character creation in Guild Wars…
I've never been happy with the art style of STO. They've made improvements since launch but all the characters still remind me of little plastic figures. And unless you pick something drastic in the character creator you're almost guaranteed that you're character's face will look the same as everyone else's. I liked the…
I've got 2 tac captains...one Fed one KDF. They're just not balanced. The damage they do is fine IF they had lower defense. They should be glass cannons and they're not.
I gave the game a try again this last weekend after being away from it for 6 months. I was yawning within 30 minutes. PvE combat was boring to me. Each fight was exactly like the one before. No variability. It was a grind.
