I run STO through Steam all the time, and don't have any troubles taking screenshots with the Print Screen key. They're located in my C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Trek Online\Live\screenshots\ directory. Yours may differ, according to where your Steam is installed.

Federation Carriers, huh? Who else remembers this? So there's precedent. Not canon, of course, and Cryptic would have to design their own ships because good luck getting the rights to the Typhon-class from Activision. (Although look at that thing- why would you want to?)

Is the power assigned to autofire? Right-clicking the power in the tray can turn that on, putting a green outline around the power. If autofire is set to "Never Cancels" in Options>Controls, then it will keep trying to fire it off whenever it's ready.
