  • That really depends on what kind of game it is. Your equilibrium can only detect acceleration, so games where you are walking or running around or free-falling or moving fast at a constant velocity are just fine in VR, and that includes the vast majority of the most popular 3D game types out there, because most games…
  • I had not played this game for about two years and I purchased the T6 Voyager when I started playing about a month ago. I did not know that there was a Voyager bridge pack and that it was only included in a special bundle and that buying the ship during the last sale precluded me from owning the Voyager bridge. This method…
  • I agree, absolutely. It takes a lot of chutzpah to strap yourself onto a controlled explosion to shoot you into a vacuum over 100 km above the Earth.
  • My understanding is that Starfleet is basically the Federation Armed forces. I don't remember seeing anyone acting as typical soldiers or sailors who were not in Starfleet. All-Vulcan ships (which I believe were in TOS and DS9) were never shown to be anything but typical Starfleet vessels. I would imagine each member of…
  • When Cryptic was sold to the Chinese company, Perfect World, they switched from a model that relied on everyone to pay their share with extra revenue from cosmetic items to a model that relies heavily on people who are addicted to the game (some surely to the point that it is a mental illness) who gamble away huge sums of…
  • Why wouldn't it still be in effect? Most treaties between the US and USSR are still in effect.
  • Sure, if you ignore the fact that you're spending more money just because Cryptic decided that you should, even if you previously purchased thousands of dollars worth of ships then it's a real steal. It's like back when Intel was selling processors with locked cores and you had to pay extra money to unlock them. It's…
  • The Raptor was, in the Christmas giveaway, along with the TOS Constitution.
  • They are nice ships, but I own one and I got the other in your previous giveaway. :(
  • It is a nice surprise for a long-time lifetime member to actually get some unclaimed items in these giveaways. I had neither bridge packs. Thank you.
  • I wish it were an Eisilum Crystal Horta instead. Hopefully that will be tomorrow's unlock, because I already have the Polytrinic Horta.
  • Driving someone off a capture point, watching my bioneural warhead chase them halfway across the map, and then seeing it kill them a minute or two later. Killing people after the game is over with a Har'pen, gravity well, or something of that nature. Launching a tricobolt torpedo at one target and watching it crit and kill…
  • In my mind, gravity well is balanced if, using evasive maneuvers and the same level of engine power as the aux power used to create the gravity well, you can escape it. So far, I just have not seen that not happening. I create gravity well's using 130 AUX power and the only ships that cannot escape are usually running less…
  • Again, I don't buy that Gravity Well is unbalanced. Even the heaviest cruiser can escape if it diverts all power to engines and uses evasive maneuvers. That is a pretty basic counter. There are no similarly basic counters to FaW. You can spam FaW every 10 seconds yet the confuse immunity lasts much longer than that and…
  • Yeah, except in a PuG match on the federation side these days, you almost always see two or three ships doing it. With cannons, it requires everyone to concentrate fire on one target and the PuG to work together to take someone down, especially a cruiser or science ship. With two or three people spamming FaW, you can get…
  • The problem is, there is no tradeoff. If you put cannons or dual cannons on a cruiser and use cannon scatter volley, you realize very quickly that there is a huge tradeoff between your ability to do high DPS and your ability to keep your target in your sights. If you put beams on your cruiser and do a A2B+FaW build, you…
  • Any PvP that relies on complicated builds is going to have powers and abilities that exploit game mechanisms to optimize a role, but even as little as a month or two ago, there were wide varieties of people making a wide variety of builds. Now, things are so broken that you can spend 50% of the time spamming a 4 Pi…
  • I thought the voice acting was good, but not as good as on the show or in a number of other Trek video games. Voice acting is probably very different than actual acting, but I know Dorn has done it before (I watched a few episodes of Gargoyles as a kid). I'm not sure how they are doing the voiceovers, but if you are going…
  • So beam attack or similar DOFF's don't reduce the cooldown at all? I know I have seen cruisers firing a lot more than five shots at two targets with less than 10 seconds between cycles.
  • Yeah, I agree with all that, except for the AMS and SS because those are easily counted by science team. PvP is still fun for me, but it has become less fun because the amount of new spam (every new ship seems to have elite pets that either do significant damage or spam things like tractor beam or whatnot) plus the fact…
  • I wrote that I have seen it done on multiple occasions. I did not write that I knew how it was done or had done it myself. I also never stated that it was impossible for a team to destroy a bunch of FaW spam-boats. Rather, I wrote that the skill was unbalanced, was negatively impacting the need for teamwork, and needed…
  • I have seen people making builds in practice that have, at best, 5-10 seconds of cooldown time between spamming runs. I am not sure how they are doing it, but I suspect it has something to do with DOFF cooldown stacking.
  • I'm trying to concentrate the discussion on just the one power here. I agree that the game mechanics, as a whole, need some serious revamping, because effective PvPers obviously are not exploiting one single ability but rather the interaction of multiple abilities, but I think that is a little beyond the scope of the…
  • This is a thread about how to balance the game, not a thread about build suggestions. If I thought that feedback pulse and reverse shield polarity, as they stand, were a balanced counter to fire at will, I would not have made the thread. Please let us try to keep on topic. Being able to keep feedback pulse up with almost…
  • I just wanted to my opinion that FAW is completely out of control. You can essentially have it up and running with virtually no pause. The confuse immunity needs to be removed once FAW is activated and a confuse bonus activated (more susceptible to confuse) for its duration.
  • Did you try disabling any client-side modifications you may have made to the game?
  • If the servers go down for a while you could . . . take a stroll outside. Go dip your toes in the ocean or climb a mountain.
  • My torpedo boat, more often than not, out-damages the vast majority of energy weapon builds in PvP. It also does a lot of damage that completely bypass the shields. I would argue that with such strong shields in PvP today, torpedoes are more useful than ever.
  • I never really understood how this was much of an exploit. The Lobi scavenger hunt requires you to start a player from scratch and level him nearly all the way up to grab all the crystals. Given the amount of gameplay time involved, does Cryptic really care if a few players have hundreds of hours to waste on getting a few…
  • My condolences. He will live on in the memory of those who knew him as well as the legacy of the projects he worked on and the value they bring to people's lives.
