I think that is wishful thinking. In "Star Trek" JJ gratuitously blew up Vulcan. In "Into Darkness" he gratuitously blew up Starfleet HQ. Next it will likely either be gratuitously blowing up Qo'nos, or going back in time to blow up the whales so that an alien probe will never hear their song and never come to Earth to…
Generally I like the New Romulus tasks so far, particularly the radiation scans. Fun lil minigame. Only two quibbles (like tribbles but with more Q?): 1) The combat based Red Alerts seem to assume endgame gear. Nasty. 2) The hand in based tasks, which actually take more effort (since you have to have to collect, then run…
I figured it out... it doesn't give you rep until the refresh timer is up, then you have to claim it. Yet it gives you the gear up front...... strange system. And it could still be a grind. It should just be slightly less for Romulans (start at 1 instead of 0, for example, still 4 more ranks to grind). And the other…
Ah, another 'this for profit corporation is evil, because they are selling things someone might actually be willing to buy!' thread. You can play for free. You can't get everything in life for free. If you aren't used to that yet, you will soon enough have to be in much more important aspects of life than a Star Trek based…
If cloak is not intended for alpha strikes, why does it provide combat bonuses when dropped? I can understand the 'skipping content' issue, but this seems to be a workaround rather than working as (truly) intended. BoP's are clearly designed around the cloak, as alpha strikers. If the Devs are saying otherwise now, they…
Do we know that is absolutely the reason the Kzinti were changed? The rights regarding TAS were at least somewhat up in the air, leading to the series being at least temporarily considered non-canon. However, the rights to TAS have ended up back with Paramount/CBS. So the question is, was SFB limited just by Niven or were…
It was an idea in the scientific community before and independently of it being used in Niven's writing. They are also the same race as in Niven's short story 'The Soft Weapon,' which Niven adapted for use in Star Trek: The Animated Series as "The Slaver Weapon." Kzinti were kept intact for purposes of the episode. They…
A labor day sale sounds great! How much is it for a labor day these days? Buy a few, save em up for when you need a day off, or when you need the extra overtime.... Maybe even rent them out :)
I was being tongue in cheek regarding Ringworld, but I wasn't aware that you know the fine details of the original contract with Niven. On what basis are you saying with such absolute certainty that Kzinti can't be used outside that episode? No one seems to have gotten sued over their use in the Star Fleet Universe of Star…
Why would it be mounted for use rather than in the ship's lab? You seem to be treating this as if study is something that happens by osmosis simply by having possession.
I have to admit, I am not anywhere near as in favor of a Fed frigate carrier as I am with Fed carriers generally. Personally I think that frigate carriers should be a completely separate class from fighter carriers. Regardless, there is no canon examples of those on either side, so unique KDF is just fine, IMO.
Of course. I am sure it was actually the best of the Star Trek series, and by far the most popular. It is only the ratings company messing up that made it seem otherwise...
You matter. But you don't matter more than all other players, and all the mattering in the world doesn't change the economics of a situation. I don't know any business that doesn't want to make all their customers happy. The trick is being able to do so and still survive as a business.
That is mostly a rock paper scissors exercise, though, and a reminder not to rely too much on any one strat or weapon. It isn't an argument for scrapping modern firearms and arming everyone with pointy sticks.
If you read the entire article, you will also find this: In short, we know there is a peregrine class courier, but much of the rest is supposition. We don't even know that the Federation don't use them as couriers, only that they are in civilian use in that role. It seems a lot more likely that the Maquis got access to…
There are no definitive details of the peregrine. We do know there is a civilian/courier version, but we do not know that to be the base model rather than the other way around. It is like saying that the Humvees used by the military have the same lack of armor and armament as those sold to civilians. The 'lack of…
There are still Borg. That means it wasn't fast enough to prevent all Borg everywhere from finding a way to adapt. Any given direct targets obviously didn't have time to adapt, but the Borg empire did. It looks useful for hull identification purposes. And given centuries have passed, why can't the primary use changed? You…
I think you are over thinking it. The degree of difference can be subtle and tiny or huge and glaring. It really depends on which parallels you are comparing. They can't co-exist within the same universe pretty much by definition. If someone from one shifts to another, that isn't co-existence. The fact that it might seem…
Exactly.... that episode didn't muck up the rest of the series. In fact if anything, ST has a habit of 'one of' appearances rather than the other way around.
They already established that there are a nigh infinite number of parallel universes. As long as the barriers between them are strong, it allows for plot hooks. If the barriers are weak and they are allowed to interact constantly, then yes, very messy indeed.
Assuming that the Borg never adapted, which they would have had plenty of incentive to do. Assuming the modern incarnation of the Vulcan ship is the same displacement as the original incarnation as seen on Enterprise, and assuming we are seeing actual relative sizes of anything rather than computer animated images used for…
If you are not a role player (in the context of the statement you are responding to), then why do you care about continuity anyway? That was a continuity friendly answer and if that makes it unacceptable, the ship being there in the first place should not be an issue.
That is what I am talking about. You can place Romulans, but you can't edit their appearance. Nor can you make a Romulan ship fed faction (by reskinning a Fed ship as a Romulan), but you could do that with klingon/fed.
