The most *balanced* Fed cruiser is the Guardian, without a doubt. I recommend that to anyone who wants to just ever buy one ship that can do a little of everything. Cmdr Engi, LtCmdr Sci, LtCmdr Tac, Lt Engi/Intel, Ensign universal. And both the starship trait Desperate Repairs and the Particle Conversion Matrix console…
I haven't played with the Elachi Dreadnought. Lobi and lockbox ships are out of my price range right now. That being said, if you are an Engineering captain, KARA KARA KARA!! The synergy between EPS Power Transfer and the Supplemental Subsystem universal console ability can't be understated. The BFAW+SS+EPS alpha strike…
I think the advantage/disadvantage of the BoP classes is that it's designed with gimmicky versatility in mind. You can't play it like any other ship where you just min-max certain DPS builds. It has universal stations everywhere. Which means you can build it up exactly how you want. You want to hit up ISA with some friends…
Agreed. I personally wish I could use the drone on my Kara. I'm using Delta Flyers right now, but it doesn't feel right on that ship. Plus for some reason, the cooldown is set to 60 seconds on it which doesn't seem right as it's much lower on my Fed character's Geneva cruiser, which also doesn't have any special cooldown…
My Fed Sci girl is a total carrier fangirl. I used to enjoy the hell out of the Caitian carrier, but I consider it outdated now. So assuming the new carrier is a sci-oriented ship (it is, right???), I'll probably pick it up. Although I do hope Alpha wins the looks contest.
I already had the Haakona from before Delta Rising, so I was eager to use it again in it's T6 format. I **LOVE** this ship! It's a heavy cruiser absolutely meant for Engineering captains! Aside from the fact that it already hits harder due to having four tac consoles, the synergy between Supplemental Subsystems and EPS…
If the other iconic T6 re-releases are any indication, the new T6 BoP will have it's own look, and the option to change it's look to that of the B'Rel at the ship tailor.
Honestly, while I know this one was in demand, I too am a bit saddened by the fact that there's yet again another solo Fed release. Players have been clamouring for a T6 Bird of Prey for a loooooooooong time. Still, it is indeed very pretty,
I like them both equally, truth be told. I know a lot of people complain about the ground combat, but I think it's pretty smooth, and there is quite a bit of ground content in the game. The fact that both are options here, contrary to other MMOs, is what keeps me happy as sometimes I'm in the mood for one over the other.
I'm a big carrier fan myself, but it's true that they feel weaker. I get the impression that carrier pets were originally made for level 50 content and haven't scaled up.
EPS should raise not only your energy levels, but also your MAX energy levels a la OSS. Boom, engi problem solved. To compensate, they'd probably have to drop how much energy you get from it, since there's no power drop or subsystem cut like in OSS, but it would definitely help engis get a DPS boost.
I REALLY want to see Commando boff abilities. Ground is under-represented as is. I'd love to be able to train my away team in Commando squad focused abilities, whatever they might be.
Honestly, I like it as is. Space is the only one with ability bloat, and this because it differentiates between different bridge seating. It allows for some serious customization. On the other hand, Ground only allows you to use something like 9 or 10 abilities max (your kit plus your natives ones). While I appreciate the…
Actually, single target cannon ships could work really well with a placate or confuse build. Confuse the biggest target and go after the little ones first. Of course, you'd want a sci ship that can use cannons and that has an ltcmdr tac boff.

Surprisingly, this is not an overpowered ship suggestion like most, and the suggestions you offered are really solid ones. It would be indeed really nice to find a ship optimized towards placate and confusion builds since no one, and I mean NO ONE, uses these anymore.
There's also another important thing that doesn't get mentioned about Engis: They can take much bigger risks. In my guild, one of our hardest hitters is an engi in an escort. He's the one who rushes headlong into tac cubes with everyone catching up. I have one character of each class, including an Orion Tac. And you know…
I use the MACO shield on my romulan character and I love it. As long as you're being fired upon, it's an easy 10 extra energy per system. While Plasmonic is definitely better for folks with decent flow caps, it's also a console slot that you can't use for something else.
Ooooo ... I'd heard of this channel. I just joined it and see it's fairly active. Nice! Especially nice given that it's a channel for helping other players gear up. While I love my fleet and intend on staying in there, I do need a fleet Pathfinder and hence access to a Tier 5 Shipyard. I'll keep an eye out for fleets that…
Tac's Attack Pattern Alpha will boost damage significantly. Were you using that at the time when you read the tooltip? Also note that that Attack Pattern Alpha is only up 30 seconds at a time. Probably missing info somewhere.
Sci is a more complex playstyle than other ships. On one hand, it'll be tougher to level up. On the other, it'll give you a chance to learn to play early so you're not completely lost later. That being said, don't expect to spit out impressive exotic damage numbers until you get Particle Manipulator from R&D Science 15.…
I too am drooling over the Annorax. I *tried* lotterying it, but no go. Vesta is a sweet ship, won't lie, but it has it's flaws: - Aux cannons are phasers. Meaning you'd have to spec for phasers. I went with plasma and wouldn't scrap my whole setup for this. - I like to deep sci when playing a sci ship. You CAN do that…
