After toying around with volume settings on Starfleet Academy (which has a ton of footstep noises), I discovered that the sound is controlled not by the Ambient Sound slider, but by the FX Sound slider. This is especially irksome to me as I find this game's footstep noises to be obtrusive and irritating, but muting the FX…
That's... debatable. But it is debatable enough that I won't wholesale dispute it, which is why I said (not sarcastically, by the way) that I saw OP's logic - I saw where one might draw the conclusion that the OP did, but to believe that specific conclusion would require at least some lack of information IMHO.
*a bunch of players complain about one specific problem after another* *you come to the obvious conclusion that they hate everything about the game and Cryptic and PWE and life and that it impossible to do anything that will ever make them remotely happy* I see your logic there. It's just not very good. Much of the…
I am literally - no, not figuratively - literally unable to comprehend what sort of convoluted thought process occurred in the horrifically bizarre expanse that is the mind of whoever thought this was a good idea. I have but one question, having given up my quest to understand the utter madness that Cryptic seems to…
Pretty much this. Sure, you can say, "It's fine because you aren't literally required to max out your character," but that is just an attempt to sidestep and ignore the real issue (corporate greed manifested as obscene grinds and timegates) by telling people that if they play the game to improve their characters as much as…
If we're going to define 'widely known' by the media themselves as a whole, and not by STO's individual exposure in those media, then you should add YouTube and Twitch to that. My meaning was that STO's exposure in games 'news' sites was possibly greatest at Massively, but again I'm not sure that losing Massively as an…
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure that this changes much - but publicity is publicity, and losing an entire avenue for it (arguably the most well-known avenue at that) probably isn't a good thing.
As MMO as this game is, you're leaving out an important detail: the story is very much a single-player one. Everyone seems 'special' because, in the mission storyline, the player's character is the hero (at least most of the time). The core story largely ignores other players - even if you're playing as a team, it's still…
The other threads are about disconnects and failure to connect to the patch server, not ARC. I've never actually seen someone complain that ARC was down; I'm not sure what to conclude from that.
It's not quite as complicated as you think - most of that work has already been done to add the RNG component that picks modifiers for you. It doesn't require changes to the base code, or the graphics code, or the network code - just the replacement of the RNG that already chooses from a list of modifiers with a simple…
Agreed. If it were truly, at its core, designed to merely allow players to improve their characters, the 'grind' would be focused on accessibility (i.e. bonuses accessible to alts), but it simply isn't. What the 'grind' does focus on are three things: RNG (a.k.a. 'significant failure chance'), timegates, and exorbitant…
Or try to kill it by closing threads. And in the process make the people who created and powered those threads even angrier, and now without a proper outlet for their distaste. I expect many will take it out in other ways. Oh, Cryptic. Have you not seen the forums ablaze enough?
When did somebody mention the Constitution? Either way, like others have said, the DOOM thread was mostly a joke. Mostly. So much so, that not even the moderators took it seriously. But with Delta Rising came the sig threads, and the forumites were laughing not at each others' expense, but at Cryptic's. Sure, they have a…
It was for me, but I fixed it by: 1. Slotting the 1000 picture project 2. Cancelling it 3. Doing the race; getting the pictures 4. When I re-slotted the Chel Grett project, it said I only needed 40 pictures. Hope that helps! :)
