Nah. I'd get a Kelvin type, or an Armstrong type, or even a Mayflower type if the added the option of a rollbar; but neither the Connie nor the Vengence interest me in the slightest.
Yes. But it's a tentative yes. I think exploration is the most important thing they could be working on; but if the game dies due to a year long content drought while they make it, then it would be kind of pointless anyway. Mind you, the thought of giving them a year to make a replacement for something that they already…
More parts for ships (even if they were just individual parts rather than whole new costumes). Plainer hull materials that don't have paneling detail you can see from kilometers away. Modular attachments for weapons so we can customise their appearance. A better selection of hairstyles for Caitians and Ferasans. I'd also…
Hmmm... well, I'm intrigued. That said, what happened to the 'being explorers again' that the New Dawn trailer talked about? Getting involved in the Temporal Cold War doesn't seem to really fit the bill.
DS9. How could it be anything else? It was the only series that focused on long running large scale conflicts, the only series that regularly involved fleets, Sisko leading the fight against the Dominion was about as close as any of the leads got to being an Admiral (while they were still leads anyway), and it was the…
Actually, the Defiant ended up in the past of the mirror universe; where it was stolen from the Tholians by the mirror Captain Archer. So its story has already been done.
Well, seems there is some support for a nostalgia trip of one kind or another. Hope Cryptic feels the same way (and that their plans involve old style ships of some type).
Very nice pic. Very atmospheric. My character Brosen is destined to go out like Adric (Doctor Who reference for those who don't know). He'll be desperately trying to solve some technical problem; and then, at the last minute, he'll be interrupted, or find that something he really needs is broken, or the power will go out,…
I think I'd like a Bolian captain. It's always bugged me that the only Bolians who got decent screen time seemed to be joke characters. We know from the opening of 'Emissary' that they aren't all like that; so yeah, I'd want a grim faced, hard as nails Bolian for a captain. B)
The only times we ever saw the pod display any obvious function, it was firing torpedos; so thats the one thing we know for certain they were used for. Besides that, in STO the Nebula was supposed to be a kind of sci ship/cruiser hybrid; I've always felt it could use a bit more firepower to better reflect that.
John de Lancie. Just have him appear as a perfectly ordinary Starfleet officer, going about his duties, then have him turn and smirk knowingly at the camera while none of the other characters are looking. No explainations, no further development; just that. B)
We already kinda have transparent aluminum. It's called aluminium oxynitride and is used as bullet proof glass (among other things). Apparently 1.6" can stop a 50. cal BMG armour piercing round. It's marketed under the name ALON.
To be clear, do you mean you want every ship to get a faction specific TOS makeover, or that you want to be able to (for example) replace any Fed ship model with the TOS Connie?
Thought about voting 'Conformity', but I wasn't sure it really fit... Anyway, I see the Borg as the Federation taken to a very creepy extreme. They could perhaps be taken as a warning about rampant golbalization and its impact on cultures and individuals. The implication being that the Federation's way of respecting other…
Same. Every wish I ever had for STO's exploration involved just adding more stuff to the clusters. Better stuff for preference; but still... I confess I've been at something of a loss since they removed them. I got so used to thinking in terms of how to improve the clusters, that I'm not even sure what I want from this…
It's not that plot is a bad thing, it's that it isn't necessary for exploration. In missions (including foundry ones) plot is kind of the point; go here, do this, talk to that guy, shoot his little dog. Exploration should be unscripted. Interesting plots and characters might be nice things to find from time to time while…
Yep. The journey is just as important as the destination. The very act of going looking was what made the difference. Look at it this way, with the clusters gone there are no longer many good reasons to actually get in your ship and go somewhere. Once you are done playing through the missions, you could experience almost…
Not if they took you there, but I suppose if you made your own way there while blindfolded it could be considered exploration from a certain point of view. You would after all essentially be rediscovering your surroundings via senses you don't normally rely on for navigation. And no, a 'random' button wouldn't count.…
The torpedo thing looks pretty sweet. Otherwise, pretty much exactly what I was expecting. It follows the patterns established by the other T6 hero ships; I don't know why anyone is surprised.
That struck me as a pretty nice idea, until I realised that in all likelyhood most of the playerbase would miss a one hour sale; and then complain greatly. Not good press. Still, a longer sale starting then might be fitting.
