Sorry Ironmako, but the issue isn't - for me, of course! - the 45° or 250° or wathever°, but the fact that torpedoes and beam abilities start at ensign and end at lt. commander, whil the cannon abilities start one level above. (Not to mention the Attack Pattern <something>.) Bye / Qaplà

Try to use the equipment of the various reputations (Omega, Iconian etc. etc.) and the weapons the reputations bring. If your ship is less than effective try some cross-faction ship in the Exchange: many of them are vicious, and fairly cheap.

My secret wish is a self-repairing routine: the hangar pets respawn after 45" at most; since the non-hangar pets are far bigger a self-repairing routine - when they are disabled - should make them useful rather than - simply - disposable.
