Let me put my Orion fed diplomacy boff in a starfleet uniform already, PLEASE!

Tendi's been canon as a Starfleet Orion for how many years now? I just want my boff to be in uniform, particularly for me, in either the Odyssey Excursion or the Inquisitor Terran Excursion variant. Two releases of the same uniform and I still can't get my boff to match.

Please, this feels like a reasonable, doable thing.

Also, if the "seduce" trait could be added to her advanced training trait pool, like how vulcans get all their racial trait options when upgraded, that'd also be amazing. I don't expect it, but in a perfect world....

I always say this, but: Unlock the tailor. Unlock the palette. FREEDOM!

Let us try to use every costume unlock we have on every captain and boff. Cryptic/DECA can show us a warning banner that arms and legs might disappear, horrible clipping might appear, or the space-time continuum might collapse but let us risk it anyway.

Yes, people might see fed boffs in bikinis on Nimbus instead of just captains on Risa. That won't hurt anyone.

+1 for total tailor freedom, but that's not even what I'm asking for. I understand why we still don't have that. I think.

The old explanation used to be that they were kept by CBS or Paramount or whoever owns Trek on a short leash and couldn't make things that were too silly or non-canon, so you couldn't just have Klingons running around in fed uniforms or whatever.

But that was a decade of hawaiian shirt gorn dropping disco balls ago.

A Fed Orion is a prominent main character now. Cross faction flying exists in-game. KDF toons even already have access in their KDF-specific tailor to certain parts of the Terran inquisitor uniform, and probably other Starfleet uniforms too, I haven't really checked.

It's just that Orions, with their limited tailor categories, don't have the pieces available to them that they could/should/need.

I don't think it's a matter of not being allowed to anymore, I just think it's more that someone hasn't been able to or maybe thought of getting around to update that availability yet.

Let's look back at the two TNG episodes the Officer Exchange stems from:

When Riker served aboard a Klingon Ship, he wore his Starfleet uniform.
When Kurn served aboard the Enterprise, he wore his KDF uniform.
Thus, your Officer Exchange Orion will wear KDF outfits.

Still, it would be nice to have freedom in the tailor and let them wear Starfleet uniforms.

Didn't Picard dress up as a mercenary in one episode?

Besides, captains can wear xmas sweaters, Herald gear, Khan outfits, etc. - STO has ignored canon all along for captains.

On the other hand... I've got Marauding Andorian BOffs KDF side who don't have access to Fed uniforms, but KLINGON uniforms.

As of right now though, I think the closest we can get to a Federation uniform is the Kelvin Survival Jacket, as you can put a couple Fed badges on it, like the 2399 badge, even on a Diplomacy Orion.

Are you sure that was part of the Officer Exchange Programme, though...?

Doesn't Officer Impersonation Programme count? ;)

There is also the problem that the red/blue factions in the game apparently use different models, so whenever you have a universal clothing item it is actually two different versions of it, one for the Fed side (blue) and one for the KDF side (red), or something along those lines anyway (it has been a while since I heard it on one of the Ten Forward videos). Trying to swap the clothing could cause even worse distortions and clipping than there is now.

I usually make Fed Orions in the Fed alien generator, they are just a skin and hair color adjustment for the most part, though for the pheromone attack you need to use the kit module (Soothing Pheromones) which is often expensive depending on the supply at any given time and is not exactly overwhelming in combat (though it is not entirely useless either).

I mean, last I checked she already had access to SOME of the terran oddy parts iirc. Just not all of them or the ones I need for my character. Regardless, surely such stringent adherence to canon went out the window with my Federation cardassian captain tommy gunning the borg queen while dressed as abraham lincoln with the barbie powerboard from back to the future in his backpack.

I'm sure this is closer to the most relevant reasoning, but surely orion skeleton/sprites/whatever the technical term is can't be THAT different from any given fed species the uniforms are already available to...

You'd be surprised how temperamental rigging an outfit can be, as with everything "it's more complex then you think" might apply

Actually at this point it'd make more sense to just unlock Orions for the Federation side. The exchange officer is supposed to wear the other faction's uniforms.

At best I could see them unlocking the Khitomer Alliance uniforms for them pig-1.gif

To be honest I'd be happy if they just allowed all Boff's access to all wardrobe options, certain Boff's can't use certain armour pieces, while they are at it, unlock the first officer names so we can change them, I'm so sick of seeing 20+ Elisa Flores/K'Gan/Tovan Khev (although I can understand Tovan as he is quite central to the Romulan recruit storyline).

People don't HAVE to run around with them on an away team. They just choose to. Don't blame them as they are pretty decent BOffs in their own right.

I don't think things would have turned out the same for Picard if he showed up in his starfleet uniform sayin "Hello fellow mercenaries"

Cross faction uniform unlocks would be handy for some themes (even something as simple as Temporal recruits have the problem that none of the boffs from the main part of the game are TOS and so cannot wear TOS uniforms even if you have them unlocked), though the biggest problem isn't cross faction, it is the fact that boffs cannot wear everything the captain can so while it is sometimes possible to fake an alien uniform on a captain the boffs are stuck with standard ones for the most part.

And for that matter, a lot of the uniforms are not accurate, like the thumbhole sleeves are missing from the Romulan uniforms, the insignia is missing altogether on female Klingon TOS uniforms, etc.

At the very least we should be able to put our Orion BoFFs in the 2380 (Lower Decks) uniform, as advertised.
    Oh well...

Along the same lines, I'd love to know why someone went out of their way to rig the player Jem'Hadar for the full Ennis outfit including the football helmet, but they can't use the visor that's been available for everyone else for years but is actually, canonically, Dominion hardware. I'm playing a First on special detached duty from regular Vorta oversight, I should be able to wear the eyepiece that lets me see what's going on outside my ship.

It is probably because the Vorta eyepiece has to fit closely enough on the smooth skin of the Vorta (and the Humans/Vulcans/etc. that make up the bulk of the characters in the game) but it is probably too small and tight fitting to work on the thick lumpy horn toad skin of the Jem'Hadar and it would probably be a lot of work to make another one that fits just one race. Bad ROI and all that, especially since the devs seem to be convinced that no one ever uses the bridges where the eyepiece is most appropriate.
