When I first saw Anne's post I thought the title showed good humour as did some of the OP's replies, but the post itself is a screenshot with very few words. Could somebody please explain to me what sort of discussion was expected ? What is the actual topic of this thread ? Thank you.
“so let me ask this. you go into a tfo with a jelly. Did you lose? did the others rage quit?”
Yes some of TFO’s have been lost because of the jelly doing practically nothing causing us to get no TFO rewards. Plus, as I explained before a 15min TFO turned into a 30+min TFO directly because a group of jellyfish couldn’t be bothered to take part.
On a few rare times yes, I experienced a rage quitter due to multiple Jellyfish, which meant I not only had to cover the rage quitter but I also had to cover the workload from the Jellyfish players doing nothing. Worse case 3 jellyfish and 1 rage quitter leaves just me soloing the TFO doing 100% of the objectives and doing 100% of the DPS against the boss fight as the Jellyfish didn't join in. Not a problem in Resistance of Star Base 1. A major problem in a TFO like Irratus which is where it happened.
“you have already completely hijacked Anne's post, which is both humorous and rare.”
Prospective and all that. It was a screenshot without explanation. I didn’t see it as humorous. I see it as a screenshot posted out of frustration showing how 2 people in the team are having a bad time. That’s why I am treating this topic as serious and on topic, not as a humorous topic.
Last time I was in that TFO with 3 Jellyfish they were making fun of a single none Jellyfish player in chat and trolling them, telling them how they are going to have a bad time. In looked just like that screenshot.
Which is my entire point. There are good Jellyfish players but those are outnumbered by the bad ones.
“in other words, play my way because you suck otherwise. I guess my earlier post was too vague.”
You got that wrong. What I said was a player should contribute. If all you are going to do is ignore mission objectives and do the bare minimum to do just enough damage to get past the AFK penalty then players are rightly going to frown upon you.
“as others have said, adapt. or as is constantly thrown back at complainers, don't effing pug.”
I have a short window in the morning at breakfast before work. Just long enough to do 1 PUG run. The only practical way I can do Elites in my time zone is to PUG. So it’s either PUG or don’t play. So yes I am going to frown upon the lazy Jellyfish player who isn't contributing and only leeching. If the Jellyfish player wants to ignore me and risk getting hit with an AFK that's there problem. The bad Jellyfish player is the one that needs to adapt not me. I am not the one getting the AFK penalty because I wasnt paying attention or taking part. (I had combatlog running to see this happened)

I do feel as if there might be times where some things are intentionally taken in an overly serious manner in an attempt to alter the flow of a conversation.
Perhaps if you were to read the comment in question differently and in relation to other comments, it might be seen as an effort to diffuse tension?
That was my original intent.
As I said... intent can be lost depending on the subject in question. In a previous thread people wanted to nerf the Jellyfish into the ground because of its console ability, and got rather militant about it at times. So it can be easy to confuse an attempt to lighten the mood with "I don't like that, nerf it this way". With the Jellyfish being a rather... hot button topic... I kinda gotta watch for anything that could spiral out of control. Could I have handled it a bit better? Maybe. But unless I pull out the Cyan Text... its me speaking as a fellow forumite. And if I feel something crossed a line that I also happen to be involved in as a forumite, I'll call in another mod to mediate or if necessary take action.
But... yea... certain topics are a bit harder to inject humor into when they've been rather serious in the recent past.

I certainly appreciate you talking to me as a fellow forumite. Thank you.

I think the Jellyfish is just the most recent example, I can remember many threads prior to the release of the Jellyfish where people wanted to nerf something that wasn't their preferred playstyle in non-viability.
EDIT:Also is just me or is there an empty extra page on this thread with others too?

It is not just you, happening on both PC and mobile devices. What is crazy though is that it does not happen all the time. These Vanilla forums really need another maintenance and to be updated. Not necessarily adding the features that ended up in a flamefest of massive proportions. When I bookmark bug report threads, I have four extra empty pages now.
As for this thread, OP thanks for the screenshot of the Cnidarians.
Well this thread jumped from my attempt at funny and became a platform for the jellyfish haters. @rattler2@baddmoonrizin
Shut it down. there is too much jellyfish is cheating going on. the sad thing is the complainers probably have not even flown one.

It was difficult to discern what the topic was as there wasn't any explanation.
Nobody stated they hated the jelly in this thread, but some seemed to have specific concerns.
