Console active power is a proton damage dealing net that will grow (up to 10 km) around enemies. Passive stats boost projectile base damage and shield penetration for torps.

Trait: microcharge (additional torpedo probably) for each torpedo fired.

The ship has a very good layout. 5 forward weapons, flexibility in its Boff seatings, Temp seating in the Eng seat. And that trait is going to make my torpedo spammer even more spammy. More torpedoes, always a good thing - for me, at least!

Glad the ship exists finally, but disappointed in temp ops being the second spec. Would've rather it been intel or miracle worker but it is what it is. Also curious why it was made a battlecruiser when the original wasn't portrayed as that. Regardless I'm still going to get it

I dunno, with its 5 fw weapon slots and the torp trait, that Temp seating might be useful for those who want to fly the ship as an EPG torpedo boat.

Never cared much for Intel myself, but Miracle Worker would have been a good alternative.

Initially i missed the added shield pen for torpedoes on the console, but with a number of options available there already (tachyon drones and happy fleet) i don't know if the console will see a lot of use.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Well, it's a source of proton damage, of which we don't have that many. For those who own the Dyson's especially, it could be an interesting thing to add.

Based on the visuals, it might also be a fun thing to use in combination with one of the Nebula line consoles, the one that creates a tachyon detection grid.

Between the net itself preventing enemy ships from outrunning or shooting down targetable torps and the shield penetration in a free console, it should be popular enough to see a decent amount of use, especially with the F2P crowd, despite torpedoes being significantly less popular than cannon or beam based builds.

This should be a solid ship for use with beams or cannons. Using the Lt Commander science bridge officer slot for Photonic Officer 2 would make cooldown reduction easy and free. Am definitely going to get one

Well... the original was called a Dreadnought. And the NPCs were largely replaced with the Command Battlecruisers.

Wish the command spec wasn't added to the only ltcom tac seat or they added a universal ltcom seat instead of sci, can't even have a torp build with both a spread 3 or high yield 3 and concentrate firepower 3 at the same time, same can be said for beam overload 3 or fire at will 3.

I honestly don't think it would hurt to make it command as the main spec, the previous command ships are years older now.

With the size inflation in Trek nowadays it probably was a dreadnaught when it was introduced but demoted to battlecruiser.

Seriously though, in the real world there wasn't a big size difference between dreads and battlecruisers. In fact, some of the bigger battlecruisers were about the same size as some of the smaller of the dreadnaughts, which is the situation the Typhoons have as the smallest of the 'supercapital' ships according to that announcement about them.

That's because "dreadnought" as really a sub-classification of "battleship" then really its own thing and also the matter of the vagueness between a fast battleship and battlecruiser.

Am wondering if Recursive Shearing rank 3 would be worthy option on this ship instead of the more traditional Reverse Shield Polarity / Auxiliary to Structural / Directed Energy Modulation choices for the Commander engineer ?

But if i remember correctly, that was in the era where only the KDF had battlecruisers.
Not even the Galaxy-X was introduced back then.

Perhaps, but STO has rewriten itself over its lifetime. How many times has the Fed tutorial been revamped? The game today is almost unrecognizable to how it was at launch. Back then KDF technically started at lv 20 and I think was supposed to be the PvP faction while Fed was PvE.

It would be a nightmare to level up a KDF character nowadays if that was still the case.

Not at all. Playing with others who are also leveling up helps keep things simple and evenly matched. This makes gameplay healthy and engaging. It's just like queueing up for a normal difficulty TFO

At launch KDF technically started at 20 - meaning that was when you first got missions. You had to level from 1 to 20 via PvP at launch. That was a nightmare. (Later you could start a KDF toon at 20 if you'd already leveled a Fed to 20, but the missions were still rather sparse and advancement was slow. I vastly prefer the current method.)

At least torp spamming is slightly less trolling than mine layer builds that exceed the rendering object limit and cause NPCs to disappear. Usually.

How slow is a base turn rate of 9?

How fast is a base turn rate of 9 ? The same as an Arbiter Battlecruiser so for me pleasantly quick for a larger ship and more than fast enough to support a cannon build.

The ship doesn't look like it has a very high turn rate, in my opinion. But if it's similar to the Arbiter, I too think that cannons can work out well.

Being full Temporal, it can kick up to a higher turnrate than the Arbitier if you press the Offensive Configuration mode button. On top of that, it has a higher than usual Impulse Modifier and Inertia rating for a Battlecrusier. Still not a high-end escort, but should do decently in fairly predictable PvE with dual cannons.

With what I've seen of the stats, I'm VERY excited for when I can get my hands on it and try it with one of my characters. It might replace her current ship! o_o

The only thing about the Typhoon that I don't like is the design of the Deflector Dish. Just... something about that style on previous ships never sat well with me, and seeing it again is like "meh". The rest of the ship though is BEAUTIFUL.

Personal preference aside, looking forward to getting her myself.
