Good point since there is no friendly fire in STO. If the effect color is the same there's no way to tell if a puddle or incoming mortar round is deadly or safe.
Far as I am aware friendly mortars don't say "I'm landing here, get clear". Most player based things don't have a warning. I do think that nanite swarm might need a tweak since the player one and the enemy one look pretty much the same, complete with a circle under it.
At least recolor it - make the player version blue or green, so we can see it's not an attack. (Also the lava-field effect, which I encountered in today's TFO - it's red because lava, but it's synthetic lava so it could be any color really, and its red covers up the red of incoming attacks.)
Do some of the Borg have a power similar to the Universal Kit Module - Jam Subspace Transmissions?
I noticed a similar effect on a few runs during the Borg Battle Royale.
It's either a Borg power or some players are (either intentional or not) interfering with fabrication/summon pets builds
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Well we know the Prime Borg and Mirror Borg don't have that ability, as we've gotten pretty familiar with fighting them by now. Is that considered an Intel Power? Because I have a feeling that Control Borg might have access to some Intel powers.

That kit module is a mission reward, i think from the iconian arc.
As far as i know it is not an intel kit module.
It might be that some people use the kit module to dampen the Borg energy damage, but the effect on others in the team in restricting fabrications/summons is pretty severe.

Ya but this isn't PvP so not sure why a player cast ability would have any (negative) effect on other players.
I have noticed some sort of input lag (?) when trying to refresh my combat pet but my kit abilities (that include fabrications on an Engineer) always seem pretty quick so maybe pets have a longer activation time (or something).
Checking the combat log for this queue there is a combination of antiproton, plasma, physical, and psionic damage from the various ranks of enemies.
Devouring Nanites (physical damage) seem to be a big one as well as Mind Drain (psionic) from the Elite Psionic Assimilated Reman.

If i have to venture a guess it is either a deliberate attempt at trolling certain builds or a player utilizing the strong NPC weapon damage debuff while disregarding the effect on other players.
If one only plays solo and uses this module for survival then when thrust into a team its detrimental effects on the team may initially not even register.

Although, the Jam Subspace Transmissions kit description makes no mention of affecting allies, only enemies, unless of course it is... bugged!
But that could never happen
Even if it is not bugged, we know that intel abilities are being used by the opponents in the Battle Royale and if the user is hit by a confuse and hits the kit on a spam bar then it suddenly targets teammates.
That said it is likely that it is an ability of the NPC, one which may not be diagnosed since it is not a direct damage dealer.

I guess its possible that there could be something like a confuse thrown in there upon occasion.
I'm still hoping to see players get assimilated once in a while.
Having an assimilated player attack the rest of their team is something I've always found to be a lot of fun.
It can add a sense of unpredictability and spontaneity to combat that so many players enjoy and has always been one of my favorite mechanics.
I've been assimilated in this TFO. It only lasts for a few seconds, though.
We told you not to get cozy with that female drone..

Just ran into my first leacher on this TFO. Player just stood there in the middle of the map while the rest of the party ran around killing the borg. Reported the player but doubt anything will come of it. 😠

That is what ruined the experience for me. Guillotine also only takes about 8 minutes in a public queue and it's the same every time for enemies. I am so burnt out on these long grinds, I just want the quickest and easiest way to get the daily done.

This happens in most teams. Well, maybe not really leeching, but doing as little as possible seems to be a habit of many players.
Most of those sticking near the centre will at least create turrets. That's something I guess, but it wouldn't hurt if they also moved a bit inbetween. Perhaps fire a hand-held weapon too...
The instance I just left for example, took much longer than necessary because no one was deactivating the enemies' healing stuff. They even remained stationary when a Tzenkethi launched its explosives right on top of them.
At least their deaths were satisfying, I guess.
In many teams I've been in, it's just me moving a bit and one other player, at most. Full participation of the entire team is very rare. They'd rather wait for an enemy to come to them, than move around a corner themselves.
I tend to stick to the left side, including top and bottom corners. So that I'm sufficiently far away from the rest of the team without crossing them, but still able to cover well over half the arena.
Cause why would you all gather in the exact same spot and remain stationary for the entire mission?
Just watching them between rounds is enough to get bored.

for a while while i still had the wrap on my left hand that's what i had to do of course. I still shot, used abilities and moved a bit when i could. had carpal tunnel release done june 4th so my left hand was almost completely useless till saturday when i was able to remove the bandage

some people may not be as well geared. My weapons are from omega crates from doing reputation so nothing special really. romulan imperial navy set for armor and kit. tends to make wanting to push on enemies alone a bad idea. just came back to the game recently so yea i don't have all the neat stuff like a lot of long term players. some may just be lazy to but that's just how it is. I know I got a lot to catch up on

That might have been me.
I'm certainly not going to be running around chasing things.
It would be nice to have a lawn chair or something comfortable to sit in
The engineer of mine from the previous page broke through the 1300 dps mark last night on this map.
I just stand there in the middle and spam my F key to fire off a sequence of kit abilities that are lined up in a designated tray
There's also large kit overboosters (for cooldown reduction) in that tray as well as a combat pet.
It works like a charm and is probably the biggest single thing I've done for my ground game since I started playing.
The actuation of kit abilities is far easier and faster.

Also, the Romulan Imperial ground set certainly isn't a bad one.

I made a romulan character a good while ago got it to 65 then quit because my interests shifted i had some stuff my fleet gave me on that toon. nothing insane. mostly ship weapons but now I'm back they have all quit and the fleet i joined after getting an invite was completely inactive sadly. like my klingon engineer. got the lexington cruiser cause she be lovely. enjoying the game a lot more now.

The basic career kit modules should be more than sufficient in this TFO. Everything else is just fluff.
Also look over some of the mission rewards. They tend to be quite useful.

The V'Ger plasma is extremely useful as is the Fek'lhri fire kit module
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

I polished my ground builds on four characters so far to the point where i can almost solo the Borg Battle Royale so when the real deal comes i will try it for sure.
It may even be interesting to go into channels and go for a team for record runs to see how far the limit is.

It's good to hear they kept this.
It used to be a pretty quick process...
Get assimilated and experience the funky vision --> fire briefly at teammates --> fall flat on your beak --> respawn
Killed by others or the debuff wore of?
and seriously it's kind of hard to get Assimilated in STO as it's a melee ability so you rarely get in range.
