I never watched the kids show... but why is a voyager class ship turning like the worst of the worst garbage scows in the game?

All well I would be interesting if it turned like a voyager class and didn't have a silly hanger. Hope the trait sucks so I can skip it.

I'm sure there is some kid show reason why it can't turn.

So, am I the only one whose first reaction was that it looks like someone applied a shrink ray to the secondary hull but left the primary alone? Because that is possibly the worst proportioned ship I've seen out of Star Trek. It looks like someone used a Big Head cheat code on it.

Might be fair to ask if this ship comes with the normal Dauntless skin.

The original Dauntless designed by the team working on the TV show had similar proportions.
Plenty other Starfleet ships have played with the proportions over the years too. The Excelsior, for example, really upped the size of the Secondary hull and Nacelles, whereas the Galaxy-class had much shorter Nacelles in comparison with it's two hull sections.

I don't see why it shouldn't have interchangeable parts, but they seem to be releasing ships more on their own these days.

Or for even more in private trades.

Neat, I've been wanting a 'siege mode' similar to the Trait for a while(although I envisioned it as a console which deploys a forward shield that grants Torp Spreads when damaged along that arc). I'm also started to binge Macross again, so seeing another 'Missile Circus' console added to the game is amusing timing.

I'm mildly tempted to put JDMA, Quantum Entangled Bombardment and Torpedo Point Defense on a Pilot Escort alongside their exclusive Microprojectile Barrage Launcher. Under KLW, it would probably be an amusing fireworks show.

Shame about the Lockbox though; perhaps I'll pick it up next year for one of my Torpedo Specialists..

I'll admit, the ship looks like it would be a fun addition to my fleet.

But I'm not going to buy it, because why would I? Since even fairly new promo ships are now going to end up in account-wide unlocking packs eventually, why the heck would anyone be interested anymore in getting an expensive ship and only being able to use it on a single toon?

Face it Cryptic, you've made promo and LB-ships obsolete and removed pretty much any incentive to get them for people who can be patient. Good luck finding revenue in the meantime, until it's released in an account-unlocking pack, it won't come from players like me.

Or in short: add it to the C-store already in one way or the other.

We know it's going to happen anyway, so why try tricking players into buying a lesser, single-character unlock version of it first?

Don't forget you also have to factor in the cost of 3 T6X upgrades now.
The 3 upgrades to max em out is going to effect excitement levels for new lockbox ships. Do I burn my 3 upgrades on the new shiny ship? Or do I choose to use them on one of the old ships I already unlocked with mudd?

I feel what your saying. Do I need to be an early adopter? It was always a question worth asking... now you have to also factor in the resource cost of the upgrades.

I second that question, I think I might bite on this one if I can put the original Dauntless skin on it.

Why stop there? Throw in the console from the Lexington and the Tricobalt Tear launcher from the T6 Steamrunner too.

one why lockbox and second why no normal Dauntless but upscaled skin and no Sternback Voyager concept?

The console and abilities sound kind of cool, but OMG the ship looks horrible! The original Dauntless was designed by Rick Sternbach to have a look that conveyed that it was designed for speed, and also appear like a plausible future development of Starfleet technology. This new ship looks more like a cartoony parody of the original.

I might be tempted to get the console and trait, once I do some testing on Tribble.

To me it is a case of "so ugly its cute" in a way. Also, I like how it looks like it was designed by one of the other member-states instead of being yet another product of the San Francisco Fleet Yards.

It is a bit disappointing how the Trek spinoffs like TNG took the extremely high cost of shooting models in the 1960s forcing TOS to use the Enterprise model for every Federation ship as meaning that every Federation ship had to have the same saucer-secondary-nacelles arrangement as the TOS Enterprise.

For instance, the Vulcan-crewed ship in The Immunity Syndrome was originally supposed to be a ship of Vulcan design but since with guild rules and rates those models cost about as much as a budget automobile at the time, they had to use the model they already had (the Enterprise) and adjusted the dialog to fit that instead.

*buys this thing for the highest price and knows it'll now sell for less, but accepts this outcome anyway
goes to test the ship on Tribble
current build doesn't allow the ship box to be displayed
wasted a billion and half EC for nothing

So I ended up opening the box anyway and here's my observations (nothing about the ship itself because I don't care about it):

-Those nacelles are so fat and ugly and the "neck" between the saucer and main hull is so tiny

-The ship has access to all main hull materials, including the Protostar one, even if you don't actually own a Protostar

-The trait is actually surprisingly good. It grant +25% forward shield capacity (technically, it's just MAX capacity and it seems to have quite the bad return factor (my shield goes from just 15k to just 18k), so it's useless if your shield facing has already taken damage) and +20% bonus kinetic damage for an impressive 30 seconds and it can stack at least thrice (that's as far as my build allows it) when you use a torp and/or exotic ability, so you can have at least one guaranteed stack at all time with a couple of CD reductions

-the console oscillates between heh and good, depending on the buffs your build can get. For example, for me, it's 4.8k x 12 kinetic damage by default, but with the trait and 2 stacks of it, I can reach 8k x 12 and another buff I'm not sure about can push it to 10.5k x 12. So someone who has a full exotic or torp build (since the console scales with either) could theoretically reach some pretty numbers. Also, if your main target is destroyed before the torpedoes reach it, they'll thankfully automatically redirect to the nearest next one so they won't be wasted.
