Just finished watching the finally and I loved it, as well as Season 3 and the whole Picard series as a whole!
For me personally what makes this series great is how it handled being a sequel, instead of playing it safe and being a direct follow up to TNG, completely indulging in fanservice with no meaning or weight and pretending that no time has past like "These Are the Voyages..." did; it approached it much like the TOS films did and show a new chapter in Picard and his friends lives, for better and worst, as well as a willingness to challenge both the characters and this new era (much like DS9 did,) Sir Patrick Stewart was very wise to insist that Star Trek Picard to not be a reunion series, and because of that even with the TNG crew coming back for the final season it made the series far more interesting, with more weight and meaning to the stories it told, rather than simply putting everyone in the old uniforms and singing the old songs for nostalgia sake.
Picard from the start was fantastic, The writers, Directors and Stewart himself where able to capture Picard's paragon of Federation nature, but as I said was also willing to challenge him and show growth that felt natural, this was also the case with Seven, the rest of the TNG crew and the other returning characters, they weren't frozen in amber for 20 years; I also really liked all the new characters and showing that Picard made new friends after his adventures on the Enterprise.
The tone of the whole series was also great, dark and melancholy with characters often reflecting on both the past and the present very much like with The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country, but never once did it feel cynical or dark for the sake of being dark, and in fact used the darkness in service to each seasons themes and messages, I always appreciate and even enjoy stories that do go to really dark places to show the importance of hope and optimism in the face of said darkness, and just because a story has darkness in it doesn’t mean its cynical, you don’t need to write a perfect world with no conflict, wars or traffic accidents to show optimism.
So overall I love Star Trek Picard, this is one that I'll always be happy to watch again.

Retroactively christening the Enterprise-F in 2402 was something I could easily live with. That launch was so satisfying. However, immediately wrecking it ala STO's The Battle of Midnight was a bit much. I spied two wrecked Odyssey class starships adrift over Earth. Then flash forward one year to reveal the Enterprise-G as a smaller, older class of starship? No chance of the F having been repaired to even earn some history (as the Enterprise-E actually managed) is a travesty.
That wasn't the launch (in 2401) of the Enterprise-F, it was its last dance before being decommissioned. They chose to make it look like a launch because Frontier Day is about the celebration of the launch of the NX-01.
According to the Picard Logs, a series of Federation officials in short videos released on Instagram, it was "launched in 2386. Commanded by several captains in the past fifteen years. Currently scheduled for decommissioning after critical systems were compromised during "the Monfette Gambit", the rescue efforts for the Raillian refugees on Fenton IV. The Enterprise-F's final flight will be on display during this year's Frontier Day".
Hmmm. I'm still of the belief it was a bad decision for several reasons, but you can see how much he cares about all corners of the fanbase. An extremely rare thing.
I'm not even convinced it was a bad decision as such, I'm just mildly disappointed that the Prime timeline is now disjointed from the STO timeline. We can still get stuff from it, of course - heck, we've got Kelvinverse ships all over the place - but I liked the little nods we got.
Other hand, if giving the ship a famous name helps convince Paramount+ to greenlight Matalas' followup series, I'm all for that.

I don't feel it was a bad choice story wise, but I do get why other would, and even though I know STO is Beta Canon seeing this divergence is a little hard.
I'm definitely interested on how the STO team will move forward, and if there were behind the scenes talks with the Picard team about this direction.
Also we can still get the Enterprise-F appear in a series, Lower Decks and Prodigy are set around the time she launched after all.

Star Trek Online flew the flag for Star Trek when there was no Star Trek.
They've embraced storylines from books and comics, and they've supported the TV show by supplying ship models.
I enjoyed the last episodes of Picard immensely, but the G just felt like the show gave the game a big fat mid-digit.
So disappointing...

They have shown that several Enterprises can be active at the same time before, so the letter thing is probably not as big a problem as it looks like on the surface.

Hasn't that only been down to time travel and grand theft starship. Not that an unprecedented ship shortage couldn't cause such a thing to happen.
That or we have a legacy of A B C D E F D G F H I J etcetera
I watched Season 3, from start to finish it was crammed full of fan service and nostalgia, the choice of music in the intro and end credits, several classical bits of music, for example when Worf was Practising his fighting on the La Sirena he was listening to "Vallon sonore", an aria by Hector Berlioz, that same aria was played by Picard loudly in First contact before Riker interrupted him. There were also musical bits played for certain characters as they showed up as well.
A lot of it got right down to the Trek that had been missing for a while, after Discovery and Strange New Worlds, i bet the idea to get back to the TNG era in proper trek on a ship again exactly as it was meant to be was a great relief just to get away from this new trek business.
Jonsillis is not far off that Matalas is fishing for a series of his own off the back of Picard Season 3 and hopes CBS will bite. I frankly would like to see Matalas get the nod and get a TNG series out there and put it back to basics, more than anything Season 3 just increased my desire to see more of it. I'm curious to find out how Seven of Nine will perform as Captain of the Ent-G, what the Ent-G will explore, the explanation of the Romulan Freehold and current state of affairs after Romulus and Remus became space dust. What the Klingons, Cardassians and others are up to, just to revisit these places after 25-30 years in between new adventures. This new potential series can fill in so many of the dropped plot points in previous series of Picard and tie up others from other series as well.
I know that Kurtzman would like to get rid of Matalas, after all Matalas was given a stinker to work with but not only did he turn it around but he did it on the budget he had to work with and made Kurtzman look silly in the process. It would be a shame to see him go before his potential was realised. I hope CBS keep Matalas onboard and see what he can do first with a series of his own.
Honestly, I was a little let down - first by the Big Bad being the Borg again (I'll be really disappointed if Queen Agnes doesn't show up sometime),
THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.
The whole Borg thing is way outta left field from a story point, and changelings working with them doesn't mak a lot of sense to me, as it'd be working with/for "solids."
But seriously, Jurati was the Borg queen and watching that rift thingy at the end of season 2, so WHAT THE **** is happening?!
Jurati Borg is an alternate timeline Borg that only existed because of what Q did. The actual Borg we all know were destroyed at Jupiter, Jurati Borg remained out on the edge of Federation space defending against that anomaly in Season 2. It's unknown if the Jurati Borg faction got Federation membership.
Also new Trek shows really need to slow down with the letters since we've seen future ships like the Voyager-J in the 32nd century and 2401 is already on the B. Either there are large gaps or more ships need to survive longer than 10 years in service.
Enterprise-J was in service in the 2500's, not the 3100's. Ent-G name change was in 2402, so it's possible to squeeze it out, but the lifespan of future Enterprise-H and I will have to be lengthy and the same with the G.

According to the canned response i got from the moderator out this way a week ago, there is a thread on this forum about the direction the developers are taking this game and it no longer aligns with canon. So it seems they are following their own path and not worrying about what is going on in TV series too much. Case and point is the latest reveal trailer for the next bit of content for this game about the Ent-F and Shon with the boldly going trek slogan.
I realise there has been a week since your reply and this trailer, but it seems Cryptic are doubling down on their own game canon events now.

Technically there were not several Enterprises in service. When the Ent-D flew besides the Titan-A, it was the Titan-A. Months after Probert station (ESD) was badly damaged by the constant weapons bombardment from the assimilated Federation fleet, it was clearly repaired and the Titan-A was in dock getting a new name, before this the Ent-D was returned to the Museum and powered down.
I don't recall any other instance of an Enterprise being in service with another at any point. Forget the encounter with the Ent-D and Ent-C as that was a freak temporal incident and besides the Ent-C was not in service at the time as it was officially destroyed on official record.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
The Borg stuff is problematic maybe they'll have to just downplay the game Borg as straggler factions or something.
When I run Borg TFOs, it takes two of us to take out a Borg tactical cube and accompanying spheres, and I'm not exactly elite DPS over here. That ain't the Borg that terrified the galaxy. Makes sense as leftover factions, though.
