Pulse Phaser sound

The Twok pulse phasers from the undiscovered lockboxes don't sound anything like the Twok era phasers, I am wondering if there are any plans to give the pulse phasers the more authentic sound to the phasers of that time period.

They'll give them their proper sounds around the same time they give the Bajoran Wormhole its proper open/idle/closing sounds - which is to say, never.
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

There's lots of other weapons with the wrong sounds. One of the most egregious is pretty well all the disruptor cannons, which have been wrong since launch. Before that, even.

Stuff like this and Polaron weapons being completely different than what they looked liked on DS9....like you said, for as long as the game has been around basically

The polaron beam color was probably to distinguish them from other weapons in PvP originally, so that change makes sense from a pragmatic, game point of view.

The sounds on the other hand should be fixed, there is no gaming reason not to, though I suppose there could be some kind of IP issues if the original ones were licensed by Desilu or Paramount (though that seems unlikely).

Isn't Desilu for all intents and purposes a part of CBS now so they shouldn't cause issues, Paramount might depending how the original license deal was made.

Desilu was bought out and the name changed to "Paramount TV" until sometime in the 2000s when the name was changed again to one of the "CBS Studios" (I forget which one exactly). Before the Ricardo's bought it, it was called "RKO Pictures" which you might recognize if you watch old movies.

It is possible that Desilu used a few sounds that were copyrighted by someone else and had to license them from the IP holder, if so then those particular sounds might not be available to STO via the license they have from CBS.

On the other hand, the wrong sounds could have been a mistake on STO's part.

To add to the list, the TOS ship phaser sound is wrong too, it is from a hand phaser set to kill, not the usual ship phaser sound, and the TOS photon torpedo for some reason uses the sound of the shields bucking under the impact of enemy fire (heard from inside), in this case the fire was from the main cannons of a D7 (you can hear that there were two impacts).

Since they use the wrong sound since they were implemented into the game - 2017 - I'd say the chances are slim to none, sadly.

How is this relevant? Do they use the authentic sounds in the console version?

This is relevant in case this is a bug and to know what platform they were playing on when they noticed it. Also, not everyone plays on PC, some play on consoles. Hence why I asked.

No. Sounds are identical on all platforms.

That's possible though I don't recall any main weapons being such effects, granted I've not looked into it either.
