Hey folks! Thought that just occurred to me - one of the reasons it's "easier" for me to communicate things on Twitter than here is there's a place to fire off a quick thought or update without having to create a whole new thread that I'll have to make an announcement and eventually close and unannounce, or worry it'll turn into a flame war after I leave.
So my thought is: What if I made an "IMPORTANT NOTES" thread, probably in this forum, where I just post those updates as needed? I'd probably close it, so the only person posting in it would be me, which prevents the discussion getting derailed in any way. What do you think?
That or create a link between Twitter and the forum/website that's what we do at work. Post once and the post goes to Facebook, Twitter, website.
Not sure Important notes is the right title. Perhaps STO thoughts and updates or something more catchy. I assume some of what is posted wont be important but still worth while to post.
Yes, I think "us folks" would like it if official game news were posted in the official game forums. That is a good idea!

Absolutely! Set your reminders though Kael

Go ahead if it's easier for you Kael, but don't police discussion and allow for it to "derail" a bit, only intervene if name calling and threats are introduced.
This forum isn't run properly that's why it's not as active as it could be. Close the forum entirely if you don't want to create a bustling community. You guys over-police. That's from one professional to another.
As someone that does not do facebook anymore and am not using twitter, and don't read redit or other social media, I would really appreciate it. When I want STO info, I come here, I would want the info here.
Personally I would prefer to see a new thread, with a title specific to the note and a date. That way I can tell at a glance if it's something new I haven't read, or something I don't need to read.
A "notes" thread is something I'd have to check every day, or even multiple times per day, to see if something has been added since I last checked.
However, it would be better to have even that much, than to simply have nothing at all on the official STO forums.
If you're going to post in the Notes thread and then close it, you could certainly post an update on it's own and then close it. (So no flame war). It literally takes one minute more to create a thread rather than just reply in an existing.

Kael normally posts on Twitter about once a day. And like he said, sometimes it is news, but sometimes it is just a passing thought about something, You probably wouldn’t have to look at it so frequently. Maybe just once a week or two to catch up if interested.
But I think a lot of us are rather voracious sto news junkies. Then again, I also like politics. Not the heavy Mayor-Pete-level stuff... I prefer the pony races and backdoor deals.

It says 'new' when there is a post you haven't read already. As no-one else will be posting on it, you're not reading fluff.

I certainly support anything that is NOT Twitter. (As I am perma banned from Twitter due to a conflict among their own rules.... I'm just an innocent victim, but...) And preferably in writing. This would seem to be both, so yes.
I was banned from twitter on account creation because it was doing so at the time I signed up and made my account... I can see things but never use twitter. They are a horrible website.

i don't HAVE twitter and i can't always make the livestreams, so i would appreciate it. More so, if it were just straight to the point, Dev to player, and short style notifications. Nothing about sales or ads for new ships or any of that.
"There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life." - Ten Bears (Will Sampson)

Similar to the one who created a thread to post other DEV's Thread's on Twitter, or other Social Media.
I also liked this idea...
This is a good idea too!
Just important notes.
