Veridian III

Hi all.
Can you visit Kirk's grave on Veridian III? Also could the game use the novel The Return by William Shatner and that was co-written with Garfield Reeves-Stevens and Judith Reeves-Stevens as a story arc? Maybe it could be the story that brings Kirk into the game? It would be nice to hear his voice on some of the missions, or at least in a captains log or sector space like what Nimoy did for the game. What do you all think? I would also love the return of Sisko from the worm hole. But I really doubt that Avery Brooks would be willing to do anything with Star Trek now. What do you all think about that? Live Long and prosper.

Most likely not as it's non-canon.

Ok, but what area of space would Veridian III be in? Is it in game? Thanks.

Veridian III was absorbed by a black plot-hole, nothing left to see.

Besides which, there is no way the Federation is going to leave James Kirk's body lying under a pile of rocks on a planet with a primitive population. Aside from the cultural contamination issues he is one of the Federation's greatest heroes. His body was retrieved during the process of breaking down the D's saucer section and taken back to Earth. Most likely he was reburied in his hometown, Riverside Iowa.
Veridian III was uninhabited. The primitive civilization was on Veridian IV. Of course we could speculate on whether they'd move his body anyway, but there is no cultural contamination issue.

You are correct however they did mention that salvaging the saucer was partially a precaution for when/if the neighboring planet's people got there so I would assume non-system native remains would be removed as well.
Perhaps. That's just the kind of thing Starfleet types would obsess over. Thought realistically the body would be long decayed by the time the natives (mentioned to be pre-industrial) got to the point of being able to dig up graves on other planets.

but if the veridians are different enough from humans, having a human skeleton that looks NOTHING like one of their skeletons could still cause cultural contamination issues - though, by the time they leave their own world, they would probably at least have inklings that other life exists in the galaxy

It would be best if there would be a Veridian System in the Beta Quadrant, I've played this game to find most of the places from the series, films and comic books of locations and explorations. Just what if when the time comes to prepare for Captain Kirk's funeral or Memorial Service all fans and Trekkies come to Veridian III where he died ontop of the mount where Picard buried him. It would be a huge honour and salute to one of the Finest Captains of Starfleet. Not only that but also the Saucer section remains from the Enterprise D and the workforce savaging the parts etc, it would be great to hear that Captain Picard has also patrolled that system in StarTrek: Legacy while commanding the StarGazer.

I like to hear your thoughts on the Veridian System....

Those events happened decades before the game's time.

Wow. I kinda keep forgetting how small STO actually is.
    It's not that small TBH.

The current in-game map for the Alpha/Beta Quadrants covers the area of space that like 85% of all visited locations in the AQ and BQ in the TV shows are.

The Star Charts just pad the areas outside that by adding in a bunch of real world stars that were never mentioned in the TV shows, and, in the Klingon Empire and Romulan Star Empire, they turn a bunch of Klingon/Romulan ship classes/names into star systems(implying the Klingons and Romulans name ships after colonies and such) when that implication isn't made in the shows, nor is the existence of systems with those names made either.

It also doesn't help there are a few massively far away outliers. Like
-Deneb(Farpoint Station) is 3,230LY from earth
-The next closest system is Delta Vega(the ToS one), which is 2,500LY from Earth
-The next closest is Sheliak, at around 1,000LY from Earth
-Then Rigel(the real one not Beta Rigel), at around 800.
And there is pretty much nothing between those places.
Yeah some of the stuff in the TV shows was a LONG ways from Earth. When you look at the Star charts maps of the federation it's a weird globby shape because some member worlds are a long way from the core of the Federation.

they could add it with vo from the movie, and had Nexus missions or something. Time travel is the main point of 2 player factions. maybe a limited time event. Just and idea.

Veridian is a star with an orbiting star system containing six planets, located in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant. So we just gotta find a star with 6 planets.

Yeah, I was looking to visit Veridian III or at least fly (maybe a patrol?) through the system but was disappointed to see it wasn't there. The planet where James T. Kirk died is kind of important. Like, they include the Briar Patch from Insurrection but not that?

I would love to visit the hull of the ENT-D on Veridian III....

Maybe make a mission where you and geordi have to search through it for "something" that is very important....

That'd be cool. Though presumably Starfleet would have disassembled the hull and carted it away from Veridian III, in case the people from Veridian IV ever stumbled upon it. Like, before they got Warp.
