Anyways, kinda nice given how little time they likely had to do anything at all.
Indeed. A nod to all things Trek Canon is great, but queue the inevitable 'entitled' viewpoint of 'it's weak, they should giveaway 'x'' in 5...4...3...2...1
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Let's be honest, the same predictable people would play the same predictable roles no matter what was happening.
Even if they did NOTHING at all, the same predictable people would defend why that's ok and people were entitled for expecting them to do anything in the first place.
Its not bad but would had been better if they had included a few Klingon, Romulan and Dominion iconic ships there to include the entire fanbase in the celebration. As for free things many ask, I disagree, not everything has to be a giveaway

Don't be silly; it's not like this is the Year of Klingon or something
Counterpoint: Trek is a Fed focused franchise.
Counter-counterpoint: considering these other ships *already* exist in game, it certainly wouldn't have taken some huge amount of work include some of them like you mentioned.

That was what I thought too, they could keep most people reasonably happy with minimal work
It'd be nice if they reintroduced the Legendary pack, be better if they broke it up so people pick and choose which ship they wanted. Also a Klingon Legendary pack would be nice.
As for the "fly around ten ships, listen to some lines from their respective shows/movies to earn a title", it's fine, for a last minute thing... I guess.
Though I get the feeling if they were left to their own devices, we'd be celebrating Star Trek Day with just a massive sale.
they need to give at least a month's notice about that pack coming back if they expect most people to drop $300. that requires financial planning.
They never tell us that far in advance about any sale. Not even the Lifer Sub sales. Why should the Legendary Bundle be any different? [/devil'sadvocate]

Don't forget they already did several revamps of ship appearances that are obviously iconic klingon ships as preperation for a Legendary ship pack. So its kind of baffling they haven't done it yet. I mean they made the Support carriers in like 2 months when they previously said it takes like 6 months to a year for a ship to get from concept art to finished and in the game.
The title we can earn seems to me to be a nod to Galaxy Quest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they refer to the broadcast of their show as the "Historical Documents" in GQ...

While I hope they make a Legendary Klingon Ship pack, I could honestly see them not do it at all since there has never been a show with a Klingon hero ship, and thus, there is no "legendary" Klingon ships. You can tell they were really reaching when they made the "legendary" Romulan captain bundle, with no D'deridex, or Scimitar.
Klingons have been showcased more than Romulans. The T'Liss probably was chosen because she was the very first Romulan ship we ever saw. The D'Deridex probably got ruled out because it was the ONLY Romulan ship for many years in TNG, and the Scimitar is technically Reman.
Klingons, on the other hand, have at least 2 ships of legendary status, the D7 and B'Rel. However they could easily expand to include other Klingon ships to reach a form of parity with the Fed bundle. May not match 1 to 1, but they have many options, including their own Bortasqu to match the Fed Odyssey.
I think Cryptic's plans for tomorrow & for the few days after, glad earning the title is more than just 1 day, sounds like a cool gesture & opportunity for players to participate in if they want. It isn't a lot but it doesn't have to be. If there's another Legendary bundle sale then all the better for any new or remaining players to think about & perhaps purchase it. I'm going to try to experience some of the various Star Trek activities but won't be able to participate in them all.
I never expected a giveaway. But if you hype an event as much as they did, you should be able to back it up with something exciting. Not just copy/paste the fleet and audio files from that one mission and put it around DS9 and ESD. They could have brought back Utopia Planetia, for example, and build the museum there.
And I wouldn't be surprised if the legendary pack went on sale again today.

Galaxy Quest was awesome. More Trek jokes in one bundle than anything before or since.
And Sigourney Weaver when she was still young, hot, and reasonably sane, before she got old and went "Coo-Coo for Cocopuffs".

Joking aside, this sounds interesting.
This event is certainly a good way to advertise it

Most titles are per character. Any that are account wide typically have an associated unlock in the C-Store that can be claimed per character.

The question is how do they put a Starfleet museum into a lockbox.
In this particular case, it comes in a legendary bundle

Gee... what a surprise. Nobody saw this coming. Oh well.. At least they spend some 2 hours of dev time on the event... I guess.
