Stand alone launcher crashes

For the last couple of weeks I've experienced an issue when if I use the stand alone launcher it will crash. I can launch from the ARC app with no issues. I launched the game about an hour ago using ARC, pinned the launcher to my taskbar, logged out, used the pinned stand alone launcher, and crashed. Is anyone else experiencing this? Devs - is Cryptic/PWE doing this to force us to use the ARC app?

I have been using the stand alone launcher and have had no problems when I played yesterday. So no Cryptic is not doing this to "force'' people to use Arc. You might have corrupted files or the install has gone wrong somehow. So you might have to turn off On-Demand patching in the stand alone launcher and turn on Force Verify in the Options section of the launcher. If that does not work, you might need to uninstall the game and reinstall using Arc. After that, you can still play through the stand alone launcher. Sorry you are going through this. Thanks. :)

Hrmm, uninstalling and reinstalling would be plain foolish since it works in Arc. If it works from Arc there's no reason launching it from the .exe wouldn't work. Unpin your 'stand alone' launcher and just create a desktop shortcut of the .exe and move it to your taskbar.

I disagree that it would be foolish. I also pointed it out as a last resort if none of the other options I listed as well as others listed did not work since I have not been having this problem with the stand alone launcher.

That worked perfectly! I appreciate your help! Looks like the On-Demand Patching was the culprit.
