Why have the t1-4 zen ships no longer available to buy i was under the impression that it would be made so they could be bought with zen but doing so only unlocks it for the character that you bought it on

No. They will be available to buy with Dilithium, not Zen. I believe there still is a bug, but try going to a Ship vendor.

No luck not available at ship vendor or on the zen store
They are gone from the zen store forever. They will eventually return to the ship vendor for single-character dil purchase and maybe also to the dil store for single-character dil purchase.

Were they that unused?
Kind of.
With the move to Tier 6 being usable from the end of the tutorial, a lot of those lower tier ships no longer have a big use for leveling.
Well... when T6 became scaling...
Probably. Also the old T1-4 ships are ones you can outlevel in a day, with clicky consoles that have no stat bonuses...
So from a meta perspective they were really not worth the investment. Some of the consoles are useful, however the Emission Seeking Torpedo console from the T2 Exeter... I think the torp needs a bit of a speed boost as by the time it actually hits, the target is already dead. On the other hand being able to have the enemy in your forward arc and fire your rear torpedo that becomes a homing High Yield can be fun at times.

I found with the right level equipment or reputation equipment (borg discovery) t4 ships are usable on normal tfo
The former T1-T4 C-Store Ships will make their appearance in the Ship Vendor when the Dilithium Ship New Price Sale Price is over.

I saw this today and got excited. i've been trying to get the T6 D7 from the phenoix boxes for a while. And once done I hoped to get the Korotinga variant of the T3 ship that it's based on for the console. With todays announcment I thought i'd be able to get at least the Korotinga and maybe a variant ship or two for another pair of characters......only to find out that all ships that are on sale you could already by for dilitium just by going through the game normally. What a let down....

Be patient and save up your dil, the ships are coming just not yet.
Yeah, like you could believe it was a technical glitch that prevented them from showing up in the Ship Vendor. Two weeks later and the glitch is still glitched? Just be honest that you did not want them in the C-Store with the 20% Sale upcoming and did not want them in the Ship Vendor with the 35% Introductory Sale upcoming.

@Itminns: That's just it though. The way I read it and can see it, by making the T1-4 ships all dilithium purchases, it removes them from the discount sales outright. So there shouldn't have been a need to exclude them at all. At this point all your getting is slightly cheaper ships that are useful in padding your Admiralty ships. Though there are two ships in that area that show up with a zen tag but can't be purchased for some reason. A science ship with a ball for a front and the prototype cruiser from the discovery arc launch. They should have held off until they were ready to put this out in full function or at least explained this to people so they didn't get their hopes up.
Thing is, all you need to do is invest 2k zen, get the starter pack for your faction and basicly all the T1-T5 ships are pointless. My KDF toon leveled to 65 with just the Kor and if I hadn't snagged the Khitomer, my fed toon would be leveling on the T6 reliant which I got for free anyway with a promo code.
yeah putting them in GPL could be useful. I looked at the GPL store and was highly disappointed in what was there. Useless for the most part. But I'm still waiting for them to fix the problem so I can hopefully do some ship buying.
We used to have people organizing T1 Advanced runs a few years ago if I remember correctly.
I did that myself a lot, I'd do advanced or even elite pve in a t1 ship, like the connie or nx. I even got PM's from some of the team mates, impressed I was able to do it in a t1 o.o

This, sadly.
I started a new character last week, a FedRom Science Officer (since I didn't have a Fed-alligned Romulan), since decided I wanted to play through the RR storyline again with what little free time I have at present.
And as you say, post tutorial there was no point in using anything other than my Surhuelh class Warbird Science vessel. None of the older T1 - T4 were worth looking at in compairison.
Maybe it's nostalgia, not wanting to "waste" them, or liking the extra challenge but I still use the T1-T4 ships while leveling up.
It's extra work to move gear, and the ships are less powerful, but levels 1-50 are so easy so why not?
I still used some of the consoles. Especially the ones that came in the Klingon T 1-4 ships on my KDF Romiulan and Klingon Characters. And I had just bought new character slots so I could play through the storyline again on a Romulan (of course cause they're my fav, lol), a fed, and a Klingon character/s during this anniversary season (I'm loading STO on one of my laptops so I can at least play and plug it into my big screen while I work out these nVida woes on my big gamer. I want my dam rocket!!).
Oh well. I'll just save up my Dilithium I suppose.
Are the prices right? I saw this posted on discord yesterday:
Tier 1 thru Tier 4 Starships previously removed from the Zen Store are now available at Ship Requisition Stores for Dilithium instead. Their pricing is as follows:
Tier 1: 10,000 Dilithium
Tier 2: 25,000 Dilithium
Tier 3: 50,000 Dilithium
Tier 4: 100,000 Dilithium
But the prices are actually 50% higher. I'd buy them at that price..I mean depending on the character. But for 50% more..meh.. maybe if they were account unlocks.
But I'm sure not spending 150k dil per toon to unlock T4 ships. At current exchange that's $4/ship per character when it used to cost $15 for an account wide unlock. That's 3 characters before it becomes worse of a deal. And you can't even reclaim it unlimited now that it's a dil ship.
With the move to Tier 6 being usable from the end of the tutorial, a lot of those lower tier ships no longer have a big use for leveling.
Would it not be better to convert all of them into T6 then so people could buy them with Zen? I guess they are looking for more dil sinks.
I think the best choice would be to run a dual purchase system. Changing them all to T6 scalable ships is a major undertaking, but making these either Dil or zen purchases where dil is a per character unlock and zen is an account unlock is a better choice. If people really only want these ships/consoles for 1 character, let them get them that way, but for those who want to us the ships on all characters (admiralty, leveling, etc) then give them a viable option.
Right now, these ships are useless on all fronts. They might as well sell the consoles for that dil price because they've completely priced these ships out of both leveling and admiralty usage.
Exactly what they just did with the 60% (only) sale in Mudd's Market instead of the usual 80%. Clueless.

Yes, they are way higher that those prices... i have my dilithium discount, but still, ther are not at the advertised price..
I'm currently leveling a disco toon that I had from awhile back and neglected. Just hit 20 and was thinking about a T3 ship. I've got my free token, but thought I wouldn't mind giving the nebula a whirl. Problem is, it's 75k dil. My toon has 11k Dil at this point. By the time I saved up 75k, my character would be well beyond the level where this ship would be useful. Sure, I could do the exchange trick to put up expensive dil from another character and withdraw it, but that's a bit of a hack. I'm sure this sounded good on paper, but in practice this was a really poor change.
