Ground Pug Advanced TFO 99 injuries can we do something about that?

doctorstegidoctorstegi Member Posts: 1,189 Arc User
injuries-sto-pug.png

More and more recently i get in randoms where people have quiet a few injuries, this one guy though triumphed them all so far. I know putting a mechanic in where people have to repair them self does not fix the bad player however a side effect of that is people see these guys and just warp out or change characters and the group will get smaller.

Every day when i play random tfo's alone or with fleet mates i encounter several of these players not quiet as high as this one but yeah. Any suggestions on how to fix the issue.

    I have an idea.

Lets get rid of the whole injury system. That solves the problem. The whole system feels "dated". :#

Either ban people from entering TFO with injuries, slash rewards by 50-75% if injuries are not healed during a TFO or remove the injury system completely. Either one is fine with me.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

just ignore it, i mean with the removal of infected manus we have another queue less that actually require more than 1 person to finish it^^

Yeah they are useless with that many injuries. I think the best option is to just prevent people from queuing with >5 injuries. You can fix them for free at certain places so there isn't really an excuse not to.

injuries should just be removed. they are never a good idea outside games built around managing that sort of thing.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

They are there to try and encourage you to play smarter and try not to die, and I think they work well for that in general. Getting an injury is a mark of a failure, so you have to learn to do better next time.

I disagree, the fact we get threads like this shows at least some players doesn't care or even possibly know they exist.

No, they are there to encourage you to buy more inventory slots from the C-Store, because all you need to remove them is keep stacks of super-cheap instaheal items on you.

And they don't even work well for that, because getting an injury is so insignificant they are easily ignored until you're next on ESD or whatever to remove them for free.

Apparently, you haven't priced Critical Regenerators lately because they're insanely expensive. You can't get them any way other then Random Drop or off the Exchange so they cost a fortune. Yes, you can heal them for peanuts using a medical officer, but that usually means finishing the queue with the injury. If you only need the standard vendor bought variety, then yes.. they're little more then a petty annoyance.

You don't have to keep regenerators in your inventory by the way. They'll work if they're in your bank, even if you're not near a bank. It has nothing to do with selling inventory slots, you shouldn't need more then 1 stack of each and just replenish them when they get low. Not like you have to fill your inventory with them.

I always have a stack of minor, major and critical for both space and ground in my bank, and heal myself immediately after getting an injury. But that's just me not able to stand it sitting there...

I have priced them, when selling my drops. I haven't got the slightest idea why anyone pays those prices for them, but I'll take the money when it's offered. I don't think I've ever used one. Not even back when I did still use the regular ones. AFAIK it isn't even possible to get critical injuries unless you already have regular ones waiting in the bag. I certainly never have, that I can remember.

But really my point is, all the injuries are petty annoyances. Those little red icons in the bufflist are more noticeable than whatever gameplay effect they are supposed to have (which is to say I occasionally notice I have an injury in my bufflist, but never in gameplay).

I suppose collecting 99 of them would probably stack up to something, but really, the only plausible way to get that many is to keep them on purpose.

I used to mention in team chat at the beginning of queues (ADV) during the briefing if other players appeared to have many injuries.

I have never once received any response other than "I know."

I don't think people know how much injuries or ship damage impact performance, or they simply don't care.

Injury lockout seems fair for anything but normal mode. Joining advanced or elite with more than a few should automatically drop them down to normal with a leaver debuff that scales based on injuries if they decide to drop because normal is beneath them.

Maybe have an invalid mode specifically for the malingerers who refuse to visit sickbay where they're forced to limp slowly, cant run or roll and will randomly drop their weapons.

I was playing with injuries in a space TFO this weekend because I "only" had 40 major and 20 critical heals but was out of minor heals -- the injury system insists that if you have a minor injury you can't "over-heal" it. . Of course I healed them once the TFO was over.

The system is dated and a bit nonsensical for not allowing a Major to count for (multiple?) Minor heals.

They need to have a persistent warning flash up that won't go away (outside of missions of course) until they have visited the Doctor or Engineering.

However, I'm all for the injury system on ground, but space needs to be more dynamic; rather than getting an injury for blowing up, we should get damage-on-the-fly and fix as such.

Pretty sure consoles will have a higher population of walking dead due to the lack of buff & debuff icons.

One thing that could improve it would be to allow the fixes to be craftable, give those worthless R&D mats and neglected crafting system some use.

Not really. I don't notice much difference between PC and Xbox players when it comes to injuries. The Consoles do highlight more prominently that you have injuries on the status screen tabs than PC does though, and you can see how many debuffs another player has, but it's just a number not detailed like PC.

I don't know how you can not notice that you have red icons hovering over you. And I believe Red is normally associated with 'Bad'. No excuse for not cleaning that up.

Now for those players who start off a TFO withe 30+ Blue or Yellow icons, all I can say is: :)

There are already no consequences to anything. Players shouldn’t be able to join a TFO until they’re fully healed. And if they’re walking around social areas with so many injuries, they need limping animation and shouldn’t be able to run. After a certain number of injuries they should only be able to crawl on the ground.

What is more funny is during the last Live stream Kael said the game doesnt tell you when you get an injury.

Uh, Kael, read your BUFF bar dude seriously :)

I can understand missing it in the heat of battle since there is no pop-up or massive message. But pop-ups wouldnt work as some players disable those. If you tried to have a big message people would start complaining about it :)

Does anyone think some MMO players these days seem to be lacking or not developing situational awareness?

The game actually does tell you when you get an injury. It is very easy to miss, but I usually notice that before the injury icon, chiefly because I didn't respawn yet and have no buff icons. I think it shows up where loot notifications do if I remember.

I think the very easy to miss part is a slight problem. I always notice (on the very rare occassion) when i get an injury. However depending on how players have their UI setup it might be hidden underneath something else.

Though the icon on the BUFF bar is hard to miss. Since unlike space, you dont have to try and mouse over 30 different icons all showing at once. Ground is alot kinder on that regard

They're not "hovering over you." They're off in a corner of the screen. Well, unless you move the UI elements around yourself.

Personally, I don't look at the buff bar all that often. In fact, if it wasn't attached to the HP indicator I'd probably turn it off to clear clutter off my screen.

And as already mentioned, the injuries are just petty annoyances with no noticeable effect so I'm likely to have better things to do than remove them even when I do notice.

The most logical place to say "You got Injury" would be the respawn timer window. But really, I still wouldn't waste my time on them anyway.
