Fug-ly. It has a "You flew here in that? You're braver than I thought" kind of vibe to it. Personally, I like my shrooms on my pizza, in my salad, sauteed, or raw, not in my tech. Definite pass on this one.

This is not something Thomas would create..That thing looks like a frizbee with nacelles or a steam runner with the rear pylons chopped off and the busard collectors pushed forward..I am just hoping this isn't an overkill SCI/INTEL ship..Its ugly..
Can we hope to ever see a ENG/TAC Norway class hybrid ship..Its the only ship from cannon that's missing..Hardly or no ENG/TAC ships in game..
Jeeze... lots of people who don't know how to pay attention.
It's not an Engle. Look at the Engle, now look at this ship, now look at the Engle now look at this ship. See? They are different. Yes, they share similar lines. Like the Walker and Shepard Class do. But they are clearly not the same ship.
The ship is based on one that appeared in the IDW Star Trek Discovery 2018 Annual - specifically the USS Somerville which is the ship that finds the original prototaxites stellaviatori spores that kick of Stamet's and Straal's work.
They've fleshed the ship out, and they've added it to the game. Oh yes, the 25th Century version is already in game, and can be seen on patrol missions. It looks like the C-Store version is going to include a DSC era skin - which I am loving for the retro look.
It's a nice tie in with what they are doing story wise, and who knows - we may even get an STO version of the original mission to retrieve the first P.stellaviatori Spores.
People ask how long have I been playing STO - well the answer is simple: I have been here since the beginning. I just haven't always had a lot to say.
I was excited for the ships when I saw they were goig to be science ships but the ships are hideous and looks like they were inspired by the horrendous Star Trek show Discovery especially with the spore weapon. So will give them a miss and the KDF ship doesn't even look Klingon at all.

So...the details are out. Intel sci ships. Oh look, no Rom or Dom ships again. Well...that was quick. Not that I would want either of those fugly ships. The trait does seem interesting...but yeah I am not very likely to get ships for traits to begin with...but with no Rom and Dom ships to boot...that chance is now zero.
Same here, ugly, stats and DSC traits don't compensate and no Romulan and Dominion versions. Easy pass to me
Woo-hoo, so it's a science ship after all! Just what the doctor ordered.
Don't know what everyone is on about, the ship looks legen......wait for it......dary!

*Runs to the C-Store*
biggest problems I see is that both ships are discovery ship based and after being treated to a Dominion and Romulan designed ship from the last c-store release, people want Dominion and Romulan ships to constantly come out. Without equal faction treatment for ships, people are going to hate.
Notice the price increase. Two ship Bundles were 4000 Zen. Now they throw in 5 Keys and a FSM to make it 5000. Those who are seduced by the dark side will throw away the chance to use the 50% off Coupon on one ship, and when it is no longer new, the Free Ship Coupon on the other.

I was looking over the Blog for the release of this. It would be fun if the Somerville or Hernandez offered an optional sensor pod below the saucer. An Oberth-esqe starship at endgame would add a bit of flavor.

It would have been even cooler if you could have also mixed and matched it with the Scryler Intel Vessel. There is clearly a design lineage here, with the donut saucer. But I guess they either didn't think of it, or the Hernandez model was still too different to match up.
Whenever you activate a Science or Intelligence Bridge Officer ability:
To foes within 5 km of your anomalies:
10,687,4 Electrical Damage
28.4 All Power Levels for 20 sec
That's with EPG 433, Drain Expertise 178, and Control Expertise 260.
EDIT: For comparison, my Gravity Well III with hese stats inflicts 1,870.9 per second.

wow...if that's the drain with just 178, i may use this in combination with grabbity well 3 instead of tyken's - drain enemies dry AND keep them contained to ensure they actually DO get drained, plus added destruction from warp core breaches against unshielded targets
is that damage per second or a single burst, though?

Eh, life's too short for hating stuff in games. *shrugs*
I tend pick my purchases based on looks alone and since I love Federation saucer shaped ships and ships that have saucers - the Somerville design really resonates with me and falls into a category that I love. I get an 'old-timer' vibe out of it, while still being an 2410 ship, if that makes sense. The last time I got this excited about a Federation design was the T5 Patrol Escort, which was long time ago, and given my love for science ships - this one is a must have and probably my main ship going forward.
Just when Roms could finally get their first full specialty science warbird. And no, the Sui'Mor doesn't count without a singularity core, plus it's a character bound gamble box.
I guess I'm one of the few who actually like the look of the Somerville. And I like the fleet skin even more. As a sci ship, I think it works. I don't believe it would be a good design for a cruiser for obvious reasons and while it does sort of have the profile for an escort, as it reminds me a lot of the T2 Ushaan-class Escort, a sci ship seems like a better fit. I could even have seen this as a scout ship.
As for the Klingon Batlh, it's not as ugly as some of the other Discovery era KDF ships. That however doesn't mean it's a good looking ship. It actually reminds me more of an Orion ship than KDF. I wonder, if it were an Orion ship, would I think it's as ugly as I currently do?
And no Rom/Jem ships. No surprise there as these are Discovery era ships and there is no evidence of Rom/Jem ships from the same time period. Not exactly pleased about Rom's/Jem's not getting a ship of their own, but at least it fits the norm of what has come before.
Overall, I think I'll get the Somerville at the very least. Perhaps if I can scrape enough Zen together I'll get the 2 pack and get the bonus goodies as it's a pretty decent price.
