Shame, as one gets so many of them, and can only (unless I'm mistaken) breed one monkey per day... not including raising the already bred ones
You don't get any more of them than you grind. Stop when you've got enough. Any more is just a waste of inventory.
The stuff that is awarding them also awards LOLnuts, I guess that's why that might not be his preferred option. But of course, one could switch to a different character then. But the flyer and board would cut into the LOLnut collecting.
If only the monkeys weren't so ugly. Or maybe that's a good thing, with the birds you almost have to consider if you keep some instead of turning them into marks.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
The best way to get favors is the Dance Party, Horga'hn Hunt and Artifact Hunt. Also there's sandcastle building.
Unless you can come in first, the favors awarded in the races isn't any more than you could get from artifact hunting.
I have a habit of coming in first or second... unless I get a tribble in my bikini bottoms and fly off the track...
I do the other things though, less so the sandcastle building though as it's lots of running back and forth against a timer.
The sandcastles are fun. And no more on a timer than anything else on the island. The races are timed, the hunt is timed the scavenging is timed, the dance party is timed, Flying High is timed. It's all timed. With very generous timers, I might add.
If I don't want monkey tags I don't race or biathlon. I'll do all the others, even Flying High if I want a few extra favors. With so many in the PvP races I generally very rarely come in first, second or third. I go in knowing I'll need three of them to get the six tags I need.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
I just like the races and also have a habit of winning them, so right now my toons except for the ones on their first summer event are just standing at the promenade turning in tags for monkeys. I may be able to get them all turned in if I don't get bored along the way (which is likely) but by then my new toons will have a couple hundred more. Also, I dunno how high they stack but so far they all stack into one pile (up to the high 100s) so no more waste of inventory space than having one sitting around for the next five to come along.

Probably 999 like favours... but I've not got quite that many yet... probably will by the end of the event if I can't offload them faster. I guess I'll just dump any that are left over, except for 6 to give a fast start on the monkeys next time.
Having 27 toons to spread them out helps a lot - I'm not going to run the required 14 races a day (assuming all wins) to keep them up for all eternity.

Hang on to all of your monkeys and birds. Every other year has seen the latest marks become available in the box in the last week or so of the event. Now with this awful new leadership I can't guarantee that continues but there is no harm in waiting. I've done it every year since the first summer event.
I got ten Reps to T6 last night on my Discovery Character (should have been twelve but I must have missed filling in a slotted Daily on the Temporal and Lukari, they will hit T6 tonight). Discovery will be a few more weeks.
I think what he is saying is wait until later in the Summer Event to turn in the Monkees and Birds in case they do slip in Discovery Marks. Not likely that they will but he is not saying don't turn them on this year just later during the Event.
I have well over 5k Discovery Marks and about 38 P.Stashios as I ran SB1 Advanced every day for over a month when Discovery Marks first appeared.

Horgy: ~100 lohlunat favors in 2.5 minutes=40/min
Race (1st) 75 in 3 minutes=25/min
Race (2nd) 50 in 3 minutes=16.67/min
Race (3rd) 25 in 3 minutes=8.33/min
Dance party: 100 in 12 minutes=8.33/min
Sand castles: 20 in 2.5 minutes=8/min
Race (participation): 15 in 3 minutes=5/min
Race (disqualified) 0 in 3 minutes=0/min
I am not competent at all in the artifact hunt so I cannot give reasonable guesses about the time needed for one hunt here. By the way: the above are all rough estimates of course. Especially with the race - the lower your ranking the longer it's likely to take, making it an even worse option for players not consistently being on the podium.

Temporal artifacts can be as quick as a minute or two. There are multiple tricks to making it faster. Map, arc refinement, triangulation. If you're really good, 5 minutes is slow.

I start as close as poss to the centre of the map (the biathlon finish marker is good for that), then with a quick move fwd/back and l/r I can rule out 3/4 of the island in a few seconds. After that, it's simple.

That is quite efficient. If you're already at that location. The free teleport to the archaeology tent is nearly as good though.

Indeed, and so is standing on the casino roof. However, since it often follows directly after the biathlon, I am already in the right place.

So with that information, a little testing, and the fact the amount is a bit more luck based (proximity to dig site, going in good directions in the beginning), I'll roughly amend to
Horga'hn Hunt: ~100 lohlunat favors in 2.5 minutes=40/min
Race (1st) 75 in 3 minutes=25/min
Artifact Hunt: 50 in 2 to 3 minutes=16.67 to 25/min

Sand castles: 20 in 2.5 minutes=8/min
Race (participation): 15 in 3 minutes=5/min
Race (disqualified): 0 in 3 minutes=0/min
Which would make a "full schedule" of 90 minutes result in
600 horgy+600 arty+300 racy+100 dancy+100 sandy (wedged in after the races and dance party)=1700 in 90 minutes or 1127/hour
Also 48 tags and an egg or two
I guess it is more realistic to drop the Castles and allow for a race or two not won, so 900/hr should be a good outcome.

Just be sure to only turn in artifacts in during the bonus.
Most definitely, if you hunt them during regular times instead of bonus times

If only the NPC's that grant these tasks would stick around after the event is over...
