I wish that CBS writers for upcoming episodes would take a look at your guys foundry's make for some awesome short treks when there was a rumor discovery was cancelled some of the writers would have infinite inspiration on star trek shows if we kept the foundry alive im just saying because theirs so much available that in any time line hasn't been said think about it less work for the scriptwriter who knows this game better then the players?

100% with you.
Future GOES ON...it's called future.
Prequels are about past...totally against the sci-fi logic as spock would say.
Especially because after nemesis there are still a lot of opportunities to write about, with just some imagination and creativity: romulan civil war, federation trying to support peace, other factions involved for power / revenge on romulans.
Really a lot to write and say about
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

'...I can tell you that we're not in the military and that we intend no harm to the whales.' Kirk: The Voyage Home
'Starfleet is not a military organisation. Its purpose is exploration.' Picard: Peak Performance
'This is clearly a military operation. Is that what we are now? Because I thought we were explorers!' Scotty: Into Darkness
'...The Federation. Starfleet. We're not a military agency.' Scotty: Beyond
'I'm not a soldier anymore. I'm an engineer.' Miles O'Brien: Empok Nor
'...Starfleet could use you... It's a peacekeeping and humanitarian armada...' Admiral Pike: Star Trek

Indeed, since it's been renewed.
They were not made because people thought the show was cancelled. That's just very poorly 'thought of' speculation.
I see the tinfoil hat brigade is alive and well on the forum still.
The writers of Discovery are doing a stellar job and don't need anyone else's help.
I am not saying that there aren't some great stories to be told in the foundry, there definitely are.. but they are doing just fine as is. The show has already been renewed for Season 3, they're hitting subscriber goals years ahead of schedule, a spin off show is in the works and like it or not ST:D is a success, as it deserves to be.
I realize that at it's core, this is an attempt to save the Foundry, and while admirable it's going absolutely nowhere. Sorry, CBS is not going to step in and save the Foundry so that they can take peoples story ideas.
This as well.
Star Trek is not so limited as to ONLY go farther and farther into the future. We have at least 3 eras that can be explored more.
I never understood where this idea of "it must move FORWARD" came from. I don't see those arguments used against any other sci-fi franchise. Only Star Trek.
Enterprise to Discovery: the Colonial Era. Humanity begins to colonize, and runs into Orions and other regional powers.
TOS Movie Era to TNG: the Alpha Quadrant Expansion. Up aginst the Romulan and Klingon borders in the Beta Quadrant, the focus is on expansion into the Alpha Quadrant, ending in the Cardassian conflict.
TNG Movie Era to Picard: the aftermath of the Borg invasion and accommodations with the Collective, exploration of the Delta Quadrant. First slipstream drive explorations of neighboring galaxies.
After Picard: from the absorption of the Romulan Empire to the alliance and eventual absorption of the Klingon Empire all the way out to the defeat of the sphere builders. Humans lead the way in creating a new hybrid race composed of all the humanoids of the galaxy, essentially recreating the Progenitor race in the process.
Many eras to choose from, and many themes from exploration to war to what it means to be human. Star Trek is wide open for familiar styles of storytelling and for completely new directions. It's potential is only marginally tapped.

Not to mention there is also the 70+ year gap between ST6 and the beginning of TNG where we went through TWO different Enterprises and several major incidents like the Tomed Incident, and the signing of the Treaty of Algeron.

Actually I think some mini-series exploring the ancient history of important star trek races would be cool. Like a look at the rise of Sarek on Vulcan with his Stoic Teachings of Philosophy, a Miniseries on the Original Kathless, and others could be really cool.
Kahless and his exploits would probably turn out to have not been anything like his legend. Or like it in some respects, unlike it in others. It's a well-worn story idea but often works well. Well, they did it a bit with Zefram Cochrane, didn't they? You'd think the same wouldn't be true of Surak, since the Vulcans take such a pride in factual accuracy, but it might be - in fact, it was established in Enterprise that at one point his book went missing for years and entirely wrong ideas about what it said were kicking around, so what price his biographical details?
