I wonder if we can please get borg ships soon?
I know you folks said long time ago that borg would not be playable, as they are "bad guys" but we have gotten ships now from other "bad guys"
so i cant see any reason that we cant get em.
and tbh it would probably print money to u also :P as i think there are a lot of ppl that want borg ships.

Its generally accepted around here that Playable Borg ships = Game is Shutting Down. So...
Besides... everything except the Probe has no defined front so players will get lost while flying them. Anyone who's played Star Trek Legacy and tried flying a Borg ship in skirmish can support that statement.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I think the closest we'll get to playable Borg (or Borg-inspired) ships are the Assimilated Tal Shiar Warbirds or ships decked-out in full Omega Reputation gear. Those ships are basically half-Borg, but you won't confuse their TRIBBLE for their face when flying them.
Shame the Borg don't have a few of those in the story missions, you'd think they would have assimilated something during their attack on the Alpha Quadrant...
Straight up Borg ships will likely never happen, as so many others have said.
Now, potentially getting partially assimilated regular ships could happen. It'd be an "easy" way to maybe upgrade some of the older ships and make them T6.
Imagine a T6 Assimilated Oberth, or Nova, or Steamrunner. Like the Vandal Destroyer KDF side? Well, here's a T6 Assimilated Vandal.
Have them be refits or something, done by the Cooperative in their fight against the Collective. Story wise, they could think of something to justify it, I'm sure.
Will even this happen? I doubt it, but it would be interesting.
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
No we can't get Borg ships but enjoy playing with "Dinos that shoot lasers on their freaking heads" (not my words but a Dev), the HUGE Enterprise J ship (bigger than a starbase), Tholian ships that on cannon supposed to have bridges to accomodate residents at a cozy 404F yet humans are immune to it and many other anomalies. We run with bikinis, speedos at Risa and have cool surfer boards to make sand castle in the sand beach.
Yet no BORG ships since does not make "sense" in an STO world? Logic is not a virtue in designing the extremes of this MMO
You can't have Borg ships because you'd have to be a Borg to fly them. Then you'd have to be able to shoot other players and turn *them* into Borg.
I could certainly see a future addition that introduces a 'partially assimilated' race, and then releases Borg-derived "Assimilated" faction ships similar to the Tal Shiar ones we have now.

The devs have said in streams that they're not making proper Borg ships playable until they make a Cooperative faction... IF they ever get around to that.

LTS only Cooperative faction? Then grandfather all existing Lib Borg into it with their pre-chosen allied faction maybe?
Not sure that would be possible since I don't think you can ever actually change what "faction" you are a part of in that way.
Roms still have their own coding despite the fact they have to pick between Fed/KDF, as do Jems. I don't think its possible to change the code of an existing Fed LTS Borg, to be a Borg Cooperative character aligned with the Feds, since those are ultimately two different things.
It COULD be done, the way faction choices work is apparently a matter of changing your species. So inside the code Romulans, Fed-Rom, and KDF-Rom are actually different species. Making a faction choice actually changes your species.
It's kinda pointless to retcon existing Lib-Borg as Cooperative though. New faction-ish things are about new starting experiences.
As for the fact Lib-Borg are LTS... They could do something like with Jem'Hadar and Jem'Hadar Vanguards. BUT, that would require them to create a lesser version of Lib-Borg (since the current Lib-Borg would be equivalent to Vanguards) which they could do.
End STO with a big story arc that involved the final dissolution of the Borg Collective, the destruction of the hive mind that has controlled it for so long, and the freedom of the billions, possibly trillions, of borg drones across the galaxy. What better way to end STO?
Why end anything? There's always strange new worlds to explore.
My main character is a Liberated Borg Romulan, don't see how they would be able to make a new faction with existing, and honestly wouldnt want them to. If they were to make a playable race as they did the Jem'Hadar, I'd want the experience of something new. Maybe an option to play the earlier/beginning episodes, but I don't think it would fit well for my existing character.
One of the reason they have said they can't do this is ship scaling. Other than a few assimilated ships. All there are for the borg are the probe, sphere, cub and tac cub.
Which, let's face it, the sphere is large. But, for a player in a cube, you wouldn't see anything else on your screen but that. Plus, beam array attack arcs. Would be difficult to do with a cube. Sphere even worse, as 250 degree would cover almost the whole thing. This is a pet peeve of mine about he game in general. As per shows and ship schematics, beam arrays are 180 degree arcs. So, unless they go back and hard point every ship for this, it poses a problem. Then there is also the problem of the facing for spheres and cubes alike.
Then thing about it. Six to eight beams on a sphere or cube. You'd be flying a disco ball, not a ship.

No...
In fact, shouldn't this be a F.C.T.?

Nothing at all against Kael, but I do miss Trendy.
