These are my favorite technobabbling engineering nerds, seriously.
I want them to do an in-depth on the differences between quantum singularities and dilithium as plasma-flow rectifiers sometime.

Would be interesting if we could bump into them sometime in Club 47 or something. Maybe revive the old Utopia Planitia map and have them hanging around.
100 hulls, in 2106?? 50 years BEFORE NX-01 was launched?
Where did you get 2106 from?
Sorry, didn't read it all the way and jumped into the comments ^^"
Discovery stuff makes me a bit jumpy. Reading it all the way through I love this though. It might explain why the warp effect is different, explains why these ship designs are different from the ones we know, pretty cool.
Interesting... possible hint at playable ships? And that bit about the Nimitz might hint at a console?
So TL-9139 is basically Starfleet's analogue of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, save that the reason is purely natural, and only recently is the hazard subsiding enough for any sort of exploration to even be considered. Fascinating.
Quite aside from the bits of Starfleet history Elyos and Whetu are so interested in, the following came to mind: there may well be species for whom those elevated baryon radiation levels are far more tolerable. They might well have found the system a convenient place to set up some sort of facility in... and indeed may have caused the stellar eruption in the first place for that very purpose, using means that the Starfleet of 2259 lacked the ability to detect.
Now that I think about it, Tholians could well be on that list, and this is our first inkling that they're going to be making their step back into the spotlight... and that could mean all-new Tholian ships and/or the T6 versions of the Weavers in the offing. Alternatively, this could have been one example of the Na'kuhl/TLF's temporal shenanigans...

I don't know about the Tholians. Ad I don't think we're looking at TLF interference either.
This case may very well be one of natural causes. We won't know until our two favorite engies get out to 39 to take a look.

The Sheliak are another race that has shown radiation resistance as a standard part of their physiology.

Quite so. As noted, the eruption being of purely natural origin doesn't preclude the possibility of some species which can survive those conditions setting up shop there after the fact - after all, it's not like most anyone is going to be nosing around such a lethal (to them) environment, right?
Which does raise the question of what starship traits this trio of ships (Mesh Weaver, Orb Weaver, Recluse) would have, and what bonuses would come with the enhanced versions of the web generator and tetryon grid...
I would very much like for the Nimitz to be kitbashable with Heavy Cruiser parts (Cheyenne/Constellation) - It's virtually the same design, just with extra stuff connecting the port/starboard nacelle pairs. Either that, or the Yaeger.
I highly approve of the level of nerding out in this blog ^_^
YES!!! This! Some nice, quality fluff to sweeten the pot of new ships!

U.S.S. AKAGI NX-93347, Enterprise-class Battle Cruiser =A= U.S.S. T'KORA'S WRATH NX-110047, Odyssey-class Battle Cruiser "There Ain't No Grave, Can Hold My Body Down..." PS - I fully support a T6 Nova, fixing the Nova skins. I am also rooting for a T6 Science Cruiser, that can use Nova/Rhode Island skins. T6 Nova/Rhode Island, T6 Oberth & T6 Constellation are needed. Also needed a T6 Science Cruiser, that can wear any Science or Cruiser skin.

Is it just me or are the Devs hinting at which ships are going to be released with the Discovery launch?
We know the Malachowski Class is the starter ship, The Nimitz Class looks very Cruiser like, The Engle Class reminds me of the Saber class ships so I'm guessing Escort which leaves the Shepard Class for the Science ship. And then we've got the Battle Cruiser, For which I'm guessing the Cardenas Class will fit the bill.
I'm just guessing based off of the Agents of Yesterday releases, but I'm pretty sure I'm not too far off of the mark.

Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
I wouldn't be at all surprised if all of the Discovery ships become playable at some point. There aren't that many of them.
And I love this blog post! Would love to see some of this stuff make its way into the game itself.
Yeah only a measly 30 or so but who's counting? ;p

I’d also love it if the devs opened the small Utopia Planitia map that was created for limited use as a secondary Sol System entry point... it could have its own ship selector and customization point, as well as a small bank and mail access...

That's the real mystery.
From the comment at the end on the Narendra being done and looking for a new Next Big Thing, they'd ironed out the T6 Support Cruiser bugs.

Ah yes, the Sheliak. If I recall right, they only appear in one TNG episode, so there's plenty of room for content designers to work with.
Does this mean healing is getting a buff?
Anyone want to give me a Temporal Heavy Dreadnought pack? I'll be your friend
Yea... I have a feeling that might be connected to a console off one of the ships.

Exactly. As custodians of the ST franchise, it would be really nice if they'd bother to to spell the names of the places correctly.
