So the forum messed up my previous attempt at this as my browser threw a hissy fit with the forum.
Second attempt here. I'm interested to know what the primary reason for people not wanting to play mixed or varied queues and content in STO is. We know the RA changes have got a lot of people hot under the collar and i'll not debate whether that is good or bad here right now.
What i'm interested in is the looking at the reasons the RA's were so popular, and one of those side effects, or possible reasons for the omni-mark boxes in RA's for that the queues were empty and never popped. Cryptic's answer was the omni-marks, whether is was a good or bad idea is up for debate.
So, what is your primary reason for not playing different queues?

I dislike social content and prefer solo gaming in STO
If teamed queues felt more like social endeavors, it may be fun. But I have found it is mostly everyone for themselves. So, how is it any different from solo?

First of all, I actually play queued content a lot. I'd say after chatting, it's the activity that consumes the most of my STO time. And I like most of the available queues.
However, those I don't play are either because I don't have many friends who to run them with, or they are simply badly designed. Whether it's timegates or other annoying mechanics, most of which I discussed in my own thread about queues and how to fix them, there are missions that are dull as ****. Of course, bugs in Azure or Undine Infiltration irritate the heck out of me, and I wouldn't mind better (and meaningful! not just more marks or dil) rewards. But ultimately, I play the game for daily dose of fun pew pew, and some of the queues just don't offer that fun to me.
I voted other reason, because of the negative feedback you invariably gte if you don't know the queue. and please, don't give me the "watch youtube" excuse. i don't wath youtube for a damn thing. if my fellow players can't be helpful then they can TRIBBLE themselves when they ragequit because the optional failed
AFKing is my biggest bug-bear, especially in Event queues, followed lack of player knowledge (which could be fixed via mandatory first-timer tutorials). Other than that, I'll play any queue. I find them all enjoyable.

I can get rewards easier elsewhere (RA's, Admiralty, DOFFS)
I want to choose most of them! But main 3 would be...
1.) Bad or Boring mission design.
2.) Seeing a lack of players queuing puts me off doing so myself.
3a.) I can get rewards easier elsewhere (RA's, Admiralty, DOFFS)
3b.) Rewards are not worth the time/effort/investment required to get them.
Cryptic makes us NEED the monies for STUFF.
We want to make the monies FAST.
So if there a noticeably FASTER way to get it we will DO that.
Now there are queues I think are fun(er) but they don't provided enough rewards/time&effort and no one does them.
Now that they killed RAs, I'm loathe to say this but... A part of dying queues is doffing. When doffing came out I knew it was a bad idea. Players will just sit somewhere and fill the doff missions of their many alts and THAT WILL BE ALL THE TIME THEY HAVE TO 'PLAY' STO FOR THE DAY. (aka no queues.) I have 9 toons now. I could spend 3-4 hrs a day just doffing/admiralty and posting junk on the extremely slow 'n crappily designed Exchange. I COULD be doing queues, but nooo; Cryptic made doffing too rewarding vs queues.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.
Important topic for me and good vote options, thank you.
Well boring design is of course is the main hindering factor to send my teams to certain maps. As things are now there are half a dozen space and half a dozen ground maps I play regularly and that passionately with fun for my friends and me being the dominating factor. The rest sadly does offer nothing of the sort, rather the opposite. Not at all motivating tasks, repetitive stuff, weird balanced difficulties and flat out broken elements hinder me from playing those PvE. This is sad because they have some good potential at the base and just totally fail execution.
Also, Cryptic has a hard time balancing rewards and while they are not my first concern they still play into it as I have economic aspects to consider on my dozen toons vs. my limited gaming time. Nevertheless if a map itself is fun enough to play I can live with small rewards or on occasion even with no rewards; is a map as bad as poo however even the biggest rewards are keeping me away from it on purpose.
Like offered a thousand times, the community can help cryptic with balancing (both game elements and rewards) if they wanted to.

Thanks @peterconnorfirst , I was going to link it to Tune’s thread about improving queues but I didn’t want to wake the Edit Monster from its slumber.
Anyhoo I just think that it’d be interesting to see the reasons people don’t run the content. We see a lot of complaints about this and that being rubbish or not up to speed from people but never really a way to quantify those opinions. Perhaps being able to roughly gauge what people think is the biggest problem we can better discuss the issues at hand. A lot of discussion here just goes round in circles with different groups getting each other riled up but tbh a lot of the issues affect us all, no matter which “tribe” of players we hail from.
I know Cryptic night not pay any attention but it will maybe encourage a debate based around some real numbers for once rather than pure speculation.
The problem is not the queues... it is the queue system. It is a broken system. The old system worked perfectly and we never had these problems. Then one day they replaced a perfectly working system with this junk and it was broken for 7 months before they even started to address the many problems. To this day the queue system does not accurately inform players of how many other people are waiting to play.
***This imo is the biggest problem!***
In season 11 & 12, I would come online, scan the queue system and make check marks on all the queues that had 3 or 4 people waiting for it to pop and I would play the fist one that was ready on my screen. You can't do that anymore... now I have to wait 10-15 minutes while I get all these false positives telling me that the queue won't start because of player declines... it doesn't even make sense. Or it says the queue will start but then it never does
The queues are still fun but the broken queue system make the game look as if nobody is playing or waiting to play so people then just go to RA. Which btw also never shoes the correct number of people waiting. But it was the default go-to for myself and many others because I don't want to wait 20 mins for the queue to pop.
Until they fix the queue system and show accurate players in line for each queue then nothing will change.

Who knows but I could imagine they do.
I just think they are overworked, have a not so great lead designer and for some reason got blind as they program the game for years but not play it for real. I often seem to be in the danger of having a similar issues in STO with all that DPS stuff I do. Don’t worry, I love it (and have awsome leaders there) and will continue to go into the extreme over it but depending on how far you get there you simply end up playing a different game than everybody else.
Both you and Tunebreaker are PvE minded players I came to respect a great deal over the years and I love how you put effort into something important to me (and most likely so many others) and take the initiative with such threads.

Apparently, yours is such that you're willing to pay to NOT play.
What was it again, 800 zen for an acc wide pet unlock with the horta from z store being 400 per toon? We had far worse deals than that in the past and in a cryptic game I could easily imagine scenarios where I gladly give 1B EC for a ship instead of tending to content I despise too much for too long.
Besides what’s there to "pay"? The game gives, the game takes. It is f2p.

Not lazy at all. Don't appreciate the implication from either of you as well. Since you know nothing at all about me or my job or my life.
No, I'm not. But your statement was and remains disrespectful to other players. I call things what they are as well.
Removing alternatives won't get me to play this content either, it will just get me to spend my time playing something more enjoyable.
Shoot, I would buy. LOL!

With the introduction of the buy-out option of the latest 14 day breach event I’m glad I don’t have to pursue that line of thought too far.
P.s. I already have a Connie.
