Really?
We need an Upgrade Weekend bad.. what's the deal?
Not that I don't appreciate things like XP and Marks weekends because I do, but it's been forever since we have had an Upgrade Weekend. The Dilithium Exchange rate is way up, we need things like Upgrade or Phoenix Box promos (or both.)
Please, no more Shuttle Weekends, Duty Officer Weekends, XP Weekends etc.. can we please get what we actually need?
Recombobulate the Discombobulator?
Charge up the Flux Capacitor?

Server is down already? Don't see any info about it.....
As far as I understand it, yes.
Next question:
Is the external xmpp interface producing a 'temporary authentication failure' for anybody else?
I'm pretty sure it was stated that there will be no maintenance on thursday this week.

Do I like the servers being down on one of the few days I can play? Hell, no. But I appreciate them working on their hardware, so I won't complain too much about my rotten luck.
There's actual server hardware upgrades going on as well. This isn't just a patch push.
Try doing a shard maintenance during US time for a change, Cryptic.

My patience for the lack of an upgrade weekend however.. that's another story.
These maintenances are primarily for Server Hardware upgrading, and have been happening for a month or so. It's nothing to do with incompetence and it's the parent company PWE, not Cryptic doing this. Thursday Maint is usually Cryptic's maintenance and patch day.
This is an FCT. They are doing it at 5am their time, and it's the quietest time of the day to do so.
Regarding the marks event, i would like a upgrade weekend too.. soon.. buuut.. good side ? - if we getting T6 Rep, we gonna need alot more marks... marks-event.. excellent.. marks to harvest for later... we prolly gonna need them.. or spend months grinding...

So, I will take the longer of those two times as the more accurate, add a couple hours on top of that since these things seem to go longer than planned and will not expect to get into the game until 4:30pm, Cryptic time. I mean, let's be honest, the maintenance yesterday was meant to only be 3 hours, but ended up taking over 7.
If the game is back up before then, great, wonderful, happy day! If not, I'm prepared to not be able to play at all today, since 4:30pm Cryptic time would be just half an hour before I need to start dinner. Far too late to do my daily stuff and playing for only half an hour seems kind of a waste.
Losing faith in humanity, one person at a time.
The answer to your question is, that this is network maintenance/hardware upgrade. They only patched in what they've got, to not bring down the game again tomorrow.
I know, it's hard to get all the info here on the official forums, because nobody's posting it at one place as a reference, as the CM on the Neverwinter forums did.
There was that moment, during a meeting at my job, a few years ago now, when somebody finally got the solution for our problem, and told the respective people to "do your f***ing job!" Sometimes I'm tempted to say that to our Community Manager, of course, I would phrase it much more politely.
Sheesh...
They just get less sober.
However, in all honesty, these situations are far from professional.
If I were to do this in a company, I'd be fired before even thinking of pulling this off.
Were I in charge, I ran a second server, upgrading that one, switch it on, test it, and when it runs as it should be take the prime server down and upgrade that.
But that would be me.
They just get less sober.
There was scheduled hardware maintenance today..
There was a normal downtime that occurs on Thursday for the patch..
Instead of doing them separate and having 2 downtimes, they're doing the Thursday Patch after the hardware maintenance today and there is no downtime tomorrow.
So it's not 9 hours to apply the patch.. it's more like 7 hours to work on the servers and then 1.5-2 hrs for the software updates.
I have no idea why people think that the patch is the only thing being done in the 9 hr down time, but frankly.. that's just silly.
