Yesterday, we showed you your first look at the Recon Destroyer Bundle. Now, find out what the Lafayette and the Ketha Raptor will be able to do with you in command!
Puh... with my limited knowledge, gear and stuff this is hard sell?
The issue for me is the Tec Ensign and Universal/Intel combined with the low Lt Eng and high Lt Cmdr Sci.
Due to the low Tac ensign station you probably want a Tac boff in the Universal/Intel station. However I assume you do not want another 3rd tac ensign skill but another lt cmdr tac skill. So The intel station will be used for two subsystem overwrites?
I usually run Aux2Bat. With the low Lt Eng I can not slot a reverse shield polarity for survival if I want two Aux2Bat. So I would need an Eng in the Universal/Intel. Therefore I would defiantly lose a Tac skill there.
If I stay on beam I would lose another useful AoE in terms of either Kemocite-Laced Weapons or Distributed Targeting unless I kick either torpedo spread off the ship making the torpedo launcher and super charged weapons almost useless or the comfort tac team I.
Which is funny because I could keep that if I switch to cannons as those T3 skills re on the commander slot then I would lose my focused assault.
And all that for a Lt Cmdr Sci skill, that probably makes little difference.
12 consoles is nice though...

I believe they are Mission Pods. In this case tied to the ship's special console ability. In canon they can be anything from extra sensors to extra weapon pods, giving the New Orleans class some flexability in mission types.

Hmm, the only information I had interest in was actually included in the blog, and the news is as bad as I figured it would be.
Not only will we likely see more of these "2 faction" bundles, but they are going to cost more than the previous 3 ship bundles. At least, on average.
T6 3 ship bundles cost 6000 Zen while the ships if bought individually cost 9000 Zen, so we save 33% when we bought the 3 ship bundle. Now with a 2 ship bundle, the cost is 5000 Zen where we'd pay 6000 Zen if we buy the ships separately. That's only a savings of roughly 16%. I expect that any "6 ship" bundles (3 ships for 2 factions) will also end up seeing an overall price increase.
So now, not only do 2 factions get ships while the other 2 don't (at least not right away), we pay more for getting less. Again, on average.
I get the feeling they will release these types of 2 faction bundles and if the ships are popular enough (i.e. enough people buy them) then maybe the other 2 factions will see variants of the ships. But, since it's only going to be 2 factions at a time, they can now also charge more.
I get that Cryptic is a business and they need to make money. I'm just not sure how much more I want to spend if the prices keep going up, especially if the actual amount of new things is less than it was previously.

Yep, Cryptic is trying to snooker us into paying more for getting less at least quantity wise but I guess a argument could be made we're getting better quality though I'm not "buying" it. Glad you did the math. I figured Cryptic might try something like this, but oh well, there's plenty that will still buy it since they are the newest shiny & that is what Cryptic is relying on. This could set a bad precedent. I will admit that the Recon Destroyers' Trait Package seem impressive. At this stage of STO is is worth buying a T6 that only has 10 consoles though?
So far none, it was stated in yesterday's posting that due to Cryptic focusing on Discovery content there are plans for a Romulan counterpart but nothing definite & no time table.
My only real problem with the 2 pack is that it's less of a discount than a 3 pack normally is. I also don't like how the Klingon ship has the same stats, but also apparently includes raider flanking and a cloak? I thought the faction ships would be tweaked to balance cloaking capabilities. But the ships look cool (New Orleans especially!), and their stats are at the very least passable, plus they have truly universal consoles, which unfortunately seems to be a dying art. And I'm not ashamed to admit, I don't mind if this is the beginning of the end of warbirds.
In a way, I'm kinda happy the Romulans aren't getting super special golden child treatment any more. Sure, it sucks that they don't get new ships, but that's fair in the face of them basically being their allied faction but with better everything and access to their own exclusive stuff. I mean, you can play a Federation character, or you can play a Romulan with access to all of the ships that the Federation has, plus warbirds, PLUS SRO. In my opinion, it was unfair to give them their allies' T6s, and this is a just comeuppance.

These are essentially Escorts. A 4/3 weapons setup, an Experimental Weapons slot and the .9 hull modifier all tell me Escort with the shape of a Cruiser. The only non-Escort sign would be the 1.2 shield mod.
Also, it must have been a typo that has since been fixed, or folks can't add, but I see only 10 consoles on the non-fleet ships and 11 on the fleet variants. No 12th console that I can see. These ain't Miracle Worker ships.

Yep, it's been changed.
The C-Store version was 5/4/2 and the Fleet was 5/4/3, now they are 4/4/2 and 5/4/2 respectively.
The page has had a lot of edits based on the comments here, so anyone that came earlier should re-check it. Things were changed to: 11 consoles on Fleet version, no raider flanking, 4000 Zen normal price 2-pack, etc.

With the cloaking device, that's been a staple for KDF ships for years. You want a cloak, pay the console tax, or roll a KDF or Romulan. Or buy the temporal raider. You act as though KDF getting their pretty much last remaining gimmick is unfair, but look how often it'll break during silly stuff, such as dialogue, or gathering materials/loot. It's a good thing that for once, Federation isn't getting the "super special golden child treatment."

Thanks for the heads-up on the changes. Well, my complaints are now moot since it seems we will be keeping the same average price per ship. A very nice 'reversion', although it may have been a simple miscommunication.
Although...
(tinfoil hat time)
Perhaps it wasn't and the originally listed prices were meant to see what the reaction to them might be. Since it was pointed out quickly and negatively received, they backtracked and kept with the status quo?
Maybe it doesn't matter if you follow builds or put a lot of effort into them, but my current experience in CC shows that pretty much every 8 weapon ship I have will place 3rd or 2nd at the end, while all my escorts and such with seven plus the experimental weapon slot will not win anything. Despite the extra tactical consoles and commander tac station.

I've gotten 3rd a few times with a Crossfield. But there's something else to consider on the scoring for CC. Its not just DPS that is counted. Its damage healed. Those cruisers have a lot more healing capability than an Escort, so they're racking up more points. Its how I got 1st on my Tac main who struggled to place at all. Just built a Kobali Heal Boat and hit everything every chance you get.

lt engineering is not enough for my taste, but I must say that the raptor is really nice. At least it doesn't have big ugly nacelles like the matha raptor.
I am a bit confused what is this ship a science cruiser or an escort cruiser ?? it looks like a mix of everything my recommendation is to change the intel from universal officer too science this will open both ships up to either a pure weapons build or a heavy science & tactical build without making people sacrifice the defensive option of engineering for intel abilities.

They made the T5 Regent Assault Cruiser Refit's Metreon Gas Canister console usable on any ship after they made it a cross-faction.

In the original edit of the page, Raider Flanking was indeed listed.
Losing faith in humanity, one person at a time.
The correct bundle pricing is 4000 Zen, not the 5000 Zen that was originally listed.
Consoles on both variants were incorrect. Correct arrangements should be:
Non-Fleet: 4 Tac, 2 Eng, 4 Sci
Fleet: 5 Tac, 2 Eng, 4 Sci
The Ketha is not a Raider, and references to flanking and other similar Raider mechanics have been removed.

I'm curious as to where the Warbird variant is as well.
