I do welcome the idea of STO getting more added do to Star Trek:Discovery the series but the rep system needs alot of work to be something to add another reputation to earn and another rank as well.
NO , this is NOT Star Trek !
Are you trying to drive half the playerbase off?! Because that's how you drive half the playerbase off.
Really? Some of us are actually quite excited about this and you certainly don't speak of behalf of "half of the playerbase".
And it IS Star Trek.
I what wrong with you! Star trek discover is TRIBBLE there trying to bring battlestar galatica stories into the star trek canon and that sucks but i bet you thought the last jedi was good too
Why ?? you guys was the last to believe in the true Star Trek... Discovery is just a big pile of TRIBBLE thrown to the face of the fans like the JJ-verse..
Nope nope nope !!!
coffee the finest organic suspension ever devised - Janeway
Why ?? you guys was the last to believe in the true Star Trek... Discovery is just a big pile of **** thrown to the face of the fans like the JJ-verse..
Nope nope nope !!!
Except that we've seen and visited the JJverse once on STO. Mission was "Terminal Expanse".
If people think the flames are fast now, wait until tonight. A lot of the more "true" Trek fans (in the US anyway) are off at their 9-5 jobs earning paychecks right now. Once they get home...
They can insist all that they wish that Discovery is in the Prime Timeline but it shall never be. The only reason I'm going to be making a new character is to kill the Discovery klingnots and get whatever bonuses/unlocks I can for the ONE character that I do play with any regularity.
It's a few months late for an april fools' joke, don't you think? Besides we already had one of those this year and it was about as amusing as this is. Please, stop with the lame jokes already.

i spoke for half the player base , not the whole , do you have reading problems ?
the other half , filled with kids thinking DSC is canon are not even true Trekkers , just action movies fans
You don't get to speak on behalf of anyone but youself.
And whether you like it or not, DSC IS canon. It has been said before but is worth repeating; it is very sad that the hallmark of a 'True Star Trek fan' seems to now be their ability and authority to declare others to not be Star Trek fans based on the kind of Star Trek material they enjoy.
Well said. I'm actually gonna invest in CBS All Access at some point so I can binge in all the Star Trek series from TOS on up to Discovery. Nobody said you had to use All Access exclusively for Discovery. There are other Star Trek shows on there and current running CBS series. Also I call myself a true Star Trek fan cause I enjoy Star Trek no matter what form it is in. I do enjoy the reboot movies too but I enjoy the originals more. Out of the 3 so far that have been released Star Trek Beyond is definitely the best one. Feel free to tear me a new hole over this revelation. I really don't care. More content is more content. I welcome that. #LiveLongandProsper
When the Discovery stuff is done, would you awfully mind fleshing out the Dominion to full characters, or at least altering the script in the Cardassian/Dominion arc to make sense as a Jem'hadar? I, for one, would appreciate it.
Finally T7 ships with this new expan? I am gonna guess it'll be like AOY. You start another new Fed toon, this time with Discovery tutorial and then get whammy into our current timeline. Guess I'll start saving up zen for the next discovery zen store ship pack.
Thank you. That's exactly how I feel, and if this is going to be the game's permanent mode from now on then it will be my jumping off point.
The chances of STO becoming wholly dedicated to Discovery is absolutely moot. See. everything STO has done throughout its entire lifespan. Is one thing that isn't to your taste sufficient to abandon all experience and reasonable expectations? Is blind panic really how we're going to start the conversation of a Discovery season?
Let's get ahead of that: this is an announcement for season 15. After, there will be a season 16. If 15 isn't to your tastes (because of what it references, nevermind the fact that this content will be shown through the lens of STO with all necessary accommodations to fit that to the standards and format of the game), know that we'll be moving on in due course, as it has done with every subject its covered.
Check all personal reservations against that certainty and calibrate feedback accordingly (ie. rationally.)
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Hm. Launching a new expansion this fall that will air along a currently airing series, an idea that TOTALLY worked well before (see Defiance) revolving around a divisive series for fans of an IP, timed PERFECTLY with the exit of the executive producer at a time where solidarity and stability internally are CRUCIAL for making this a success given the material at hand.
This is how you take a phaser blast set to kill for a game like STO. I'm just going to say that. There be rough seas ahead, captains. Mark my words.
I, meanwhile, will continue to play the game, but will also be searching for the replacement. This warp core's beginning to show it's either in need of a refit...or retirement.
And before the flaming on me starts, let me edit this to say this: I'm not a fan of Discovery. That was NOT why I said this though. If it works well, I will have fun playing it and maybe even change my mind ABOUT Discovery. But right now I see them trying to do what has failed before, and with a new exec director who may or may not even adequately know the game he helms now at a point where expertise and knowledge of the assets being dealt with is key. Forget the divisive nature of Discovery, forget this is TREK for a moment. Inexperience and change in a key position like exec director can ALONE destroy a game, TV series, movie, WHATEVER. THIS is why I'm making my comments, things don't exactly look to be playing in their favor right now. Take it from me, I've not only worked with code before, I'm going to college at the moment to do so for a profession. Change, at a point where a crucial stage of development for content new to the game in a format never before presented, CAN DESTROY SOMETHING LIKE THIS GAME ALONE.
It's time for the Age of Discovery! This fall, Star Trek Online takes our first steps into the world of Star Trek: Discovery. Adventure with Mary Wiseman in a brand new continuing story!
"In the wake of a brutal war against the Klingons, Starfleet Captains must face J’Ula, matriarch of the House of Mo’Kai and sister of T’Kuvma, who seeks to alter the destiny of the Alpha Quadrant."

And what will KDF captains be doing?
...same thing they did during AoY? If it's a new "faction" questline, it'll just be for that "faction" (Disco-Feds).

Home neutered the chances of an awakening in the jems that the founders aren't gods and the killing off of any possibility of a klink civil war between martok and j'mpok because they're all warm and cuddly at the end was a real shame.
I guess we now know why!
Resurgence of bad writing with galactic plotholes incoming.
At least they won't be able to shoehorn Sela into this quite so easily.

And we just got Gamma Recruit so it's a bit early for another recruit, isn't it?
