Y'all should get the full 3-piece miracle worker ship bundle, they're pretty awesome, and even 1k zen cheaper than normal (probably due to the fact they're more pvp-specific ships I think.)
For one thing the Sci variant in particular was a pretty nasty ship with sensor analysis to weaken targets. A lot of the time other players would underestimate me and assume I was just another useless zombie tank. When I did get an escort on my tail I would rely on a combination of popping the ship in reverse and alternate between Evasive maneuvers and deuterium batteries.
At which point the Bortasqu's quirky center of gravity actually made it very quick at bringing DHC's to bear on target. Then of course the Subspace Snare console and a tractor beam were pretty handy too.

I enjoyed the PVP, it was a good test of my fleet sov and I even got a kill while surviving the whole match. PVP is great with a level playing field
We've been trying to get this for years now. For the Endeavor, the chance of getting a fairly even match was good. Outside of this, when people run back to the super easy, never get blown up PvE side of the game. The potential for you to run in to one or more of the geared and ready opponents is high.
The truth here is, most people are afraid. They're afraid of getting blown up. They're afraid of facing a challenge. They're afraid of losing. Which all this is what PvP is. There is no guarantee of anything.
And the sad part about all this is. Most people likely have the gear and traits needed to be decent in PvP. It's sitting somewhere in the bank, or on boff, or stored on one of their other ships. Outside of new player, who doesn't have access to most of it, almost everyone else does have access to it. It's more that people believe that their glass cannon ship should be just as viable in PvP, as it is in PvE. Anyone with half a mind knows, that when you're walking on to the a PvP field. Survival is your primary objective. You can't win if you're dead.
You can see this in the PvE queues. Just jump in to a Starbase Blockade. So few people carry healing skills and try to dps their way to saving the freighters. It's freaking hilarious to watch. Most people can't handle this simple mechanic. It's not wonder they can't handle PvP.
Players need to find that balance, I treat builds by the tank design philosophy (Mobility, fire power and protection) so I go for protection and fire power over mobility and fire power. It was great seeing that philosophy actually work in PVP
Same here. I don't build for pure DPS. Back when we had the trinity or sorts, sure setting up as a DPS was needed. But sense the introduction of the T5-U's and people started building glass cannons. The game as slowly switched over to cater to that, i.e. they made the game easier just for them. This is what caused the removal of the old Borg Elites. Sure they'll say it was because they were buggy.
NEWS FLASH: The Borg Elites where buggy before the switch to the DPS race.
The borg Elites were never "removed" as is, they were turned into Advanced like all the old Elites when DR was released and no third level was ever added. A fate shared by a lot of the old queues.
There never was a trinity. The PvE metagame shifted toward offense in response to the changes in the enemy stats with DR but it was still very much a kill the enemies focus from the start. On the other hand, since then the game has been made easier in pretty much every way.
Forget the words "trinity". I believe every ship/captain should do SOME dps in both ground and space, but what I'm against is that everything should be "200% dps tactical-oriented only". Science and Engineering abilities are there for a reason... or at least they should be.
Thankfully the devs have woken up and are steadily moving towards a more... varied style of play. PvP also isn't as imbalanced as it used to be, but still is more of an end-game thing due to its expensive/grindy requirements... and actually that's fine really since the game has no real end-game to begin with.

Yes, well, remains to be seen how far that goes. The only logical reason to need defensive/healing abilities is if the enemies are powerful enough you can't survive otherwise and Cryptic has a long history of only making the game easier.

I said a trinity or sorts. IT wasn't the exact setup when using that word for most MMOs. Though, they were one of the few times where you were happy to see a Sci Officer on your team. Especially in ISE, KSE and CSE. Generally with a cruiser to act as a tank. and 2-3 dps. Back when Crowd Control and Healing were just as important as DPS, especially on the optionals.
The same goes for ground here. KGE not much call for a tank, it was helpful, but not needed. CGE you were happy is you had a Tac or Sci that had the setup and know how to tank Aramek. IGE, was just a nightmare for the optional.
Which lead to stronger teams, in both PvE and PvP. Because all the STF's then were team oriented.
And no, they removed the Elites. We had Normal, Advanced and Elite back then. You even had to progress through them. You had to complete Normal to unlock Advanced, and you had to complete Advanced to unlock Elite. The only thing that changed here, is that you no longer have to progress through the unlocking of each level. The Normal, Advanced and Elite levels haven't changed since I started playing the day the game went F2P back in 2012.
On a side note here:
I do miss the old ferengi event. Wish they'd bring that back.

Well, the STFs then were harder. You needed the famous 10% rule in IGE and similar strategies in the others. You needed someone to tank Armek because otherwise you'd get one-shotted and can't respawn without restarting the fight. And so on.
Since then we've moved to Easy Mode. Players got more powerful, but no harder content to match. Enemies are easy, objectives easy, fail conditions rare. Many missions actually win automatically, just wait out the timer(s). Even on Advanced.

Wrong. Advanced was created with Delta Rising in late 2014. Prior to that there was only Normal and Elite. At that point all the old Elite queues were renamed Advanced and some of them got a new harder Elite version while others didn't.
And there have never been any unlock conditions for difficulties, though players have sometimes requested they be added.
Back in the days when this game launched (long before f2p) i leveled a bunch of toons up purely with pvP because pvE was so horribly bad back then and didn't really feel much like trek at all. A single game of pvp back then was somewhere between 1/6 - 1/8 worth of a levels xp, so you'd easily make a couple levels each night just by pvp'ing and having fun nonstop and the queues would pop every 1-2 minutes or so.
Endeavor day brought some memories back how this game used to be when it still had an endgame and having fun was an option here.
They really should,
- increase the rewards for pvp, playing pvp is more challenging then a pve episode, it should reward accordingly.
- fix the scoreboard.. if they don't want to show individual scores anymore to make it more casual friendly, at least teamscores should be there and visible through the game and some indicator what team someone is in too..
They are 1,000 Zen cheaper because they release T6 Ships at T5 prices during the Weekend of introduction unless they have a 20% Ship Sale going on. If you want them at this price you need to get it by Monday morning or wait until the Black Friday sale Thanksgiving Weekend.

I was gladly surprised this event ran on the endeavor system. Bring it back and PvP hasn't been this much fun for a long.....long....long time. I know there are PvP haters out there but if this is not for you move on. STO entertains a vast number of diverse players and just be open minded for once.
Welcome back to those brief shining moment of PvP glory days...it was very short but nicely done!
Let me make my stance on PvP clear. There is a huge difference between PvP where you're attempting to annihilate each other and Event PvP foot races/board races/biathlon. Those races are fun, though technically they're simply ways to 'earn' eppoh/monkey tags and not true races. At least not IMO.
So while I will run those PvP races because I find them fun, I'm not really interested in trying to vaporize another player, nor am I interested in being vaporized multiple times per run.
Thankfully, those who tell us to stay away from all PvP if we don't like part of it don't actually have the authority to keep me away from the PvP I like.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
