Oh, what is that absolute blight in the game called again? You know, that grotesquely flat, 2mm high Fed ship, that looks like a distorted/deflated cartoon ship. I have a good mind calling CBS one day, and ask they instruct Cryptic to pull it from the game.
When ever I see it I call it the moving target. Who in their right mind would design a ship that would put their bridge in the middle of a giant bullseye.
I get that there is no need for aerodynamics in space but from a tactical perspective all that ship does is yell here I am shoot this nice giant flat target, about as bad as the side of a Borg cube.
Pretty is as pretty does. If it does what I want, it could look like Rosie O'Donnell and I wouldn't care.
She fails worse in function, doesn't she?
Anyway there are ships that I considered ugly as hell when I first saw them; the Scryer and the Nautilus came to mind. Eventually I did buy them--the Nautilus more for the lulz than the stats. I know very well some people don't care that much about the aesthetics and that everyone thinks different in that regard, although there might be widespread agreement about certain ships' vomitousness. The Miracle Worker ships by their descriptions were intended to be ugly... mission accomplished.
'But to be logical is not to be right', and 'nothing' on God's earth could ever 'make it' right!'

l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
Since Cryptic loves to go back and nerf things, I abstain from just 'buying power.' I usually prefer a ship that is aesthetically pleasing to me but still has good performance potential.
The only ship's that are really just too insanely ugly to ever fly are the awful Universe Class and the Romulan Miracle Worker and Pilot ships.
I could probably stomach anything but the Universe Class.. I am seriously stunned anytime someone says that they like that abomination. Probably the worst ship design in Sci-Fi history.. just awful.
There's a reason the Crossfield and Universe classes are random chance drops and that's that they look so beautiful and sleek that everybody would be flying them if they were C-Store.
You have to pay over the odds for beauty in this game .
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Is it Lukari ships that trail a multi-coloured rainbow of streamers from the engines? Veto.
To be fair, I never really liked the basic geography of fed ships; only the enty E genuinely looks 'good' To me. But then, I like the bad-TRIBBLE Scimitar so...I guess I'm in the minority.
Some ships, to me look 'bad', but that ain't necessarily bad; the razreth dreadnaught has a severe, a-symetrical, jagged look, but it's supposed to be a scary, dark space-scorpion so it kind of fits.
It's a valid discussion-point. What fed escort do I REALLY want? Well, The Defiant with quad phases. Is that an optimum build? Likely not but Did moat enjoy flying that ship around. Might keep a technically superior ship around too but...the feel and look is, for me, a valid consideration!
My top 5 most ugly ships
5) Crossfield, looks hideous but she performs well
4) Hirogen Heavy Escort, not bad performance for a T5U but it looks like something an Ork Mekboy put together
3) Andromeda, It's too blocky and the deflector on the stardrive section just looks too big.
2) Endeavor, Nothing pretty about it. Best off putting the Oddy skin on it
1) A tie between all the Breen ships, they are just really ugly in general but they perform well all things considered.
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."
-Lord Commander Solar Macharius
Yeah, I agree the Breen ships aren't winning any beauty contests, but the ones I have perform very well and I do fly them from time to time for fun.
I have to agree there, re: Breen. I've seen some soup sandwich ships out there, but the Breen crafts take the prize. Not a fan of the one Ferengi ship, either, as I can never tell which end is front or back on that thing. I will, however, give it points for performance. Nimble and packs a punch!
Resident TOS, G.I. Joe, Transformers and hair metal fangirl.

I love the Nandi. It is quite maneuverable and deadly. As for front/back, the front is the one with the pair of curved-in thingys and what looks like a bug thorax is the backend.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

The Universe is in a lock box for the same reason cigarettes are $7 a pack.. it’s a tax on bad taste.
As mentioned, the Enterprise-J, the Dewan ships, and many of the KDF ships. I'm sorry, but they just look terrible, and I wouldn't want to fly them, even if they were free event ships. I actually have the opposite problem with pretty much every Romulan ship in the game. Well, I guess if I took a good look at all of them, I could probably find some ugly ones, but here's my point. I hate it that they all have singularity cores, and cannot tank like a warp core cruiser. If they made a Romulan cruiser with a warp core that looks like a genuine Romulan ship, like the D'deridex or Dehlan (sp), I would be so happy that someone would have to scrape me off the ceiling. When I buy a ship, my first concern is how it looks. My second concern is how it plays. I only play cruisers (with warp cores). I don't need the best ship in the game. In fact, I don't want to support the concept of buying the latest and greatest ship that basically nerfs everything else. So, yeah, I only buy ships that look cool, fit my playstyle and have at least usable stats. Unless, of course, I am specifically shopping for admiralty cards.
I would choose from the newer ships lethean and dewan pilot escorts, lethean looks like something what fell out of Star Wars vessel, dewan looks like ugly catfish, which has brush on the glass instead of tail. It's probably no coincidence that I can not see much these ships in space. Why not f.e. Orion Raider for KDF (bigger version of orion interceptor) and something like Reman Scythe for RR ?
From the older ones ships I realy don't like designs of Klingon command ships, Sphere builder ships, Romulan ships from Ha' serie, Imperial class assault cruiser, and some more that I do not recall.
I only use ships I like to lookbat and build them according to their character, not the other way around.
But I really like the fat cow ships in the game. The fed MW, manticore and star cruiser are very nice designs xD

I will definitely include myself in the "ugly player" category. IRL, I usually have to distract my coffee so I can sneak up on it before it runs off.
*Laughs* I'm no beauty queen myself. Still, my coffee is usually hemmed up in the coffeemaker so it can't run away. It's one of those cup-at-a-time brewers. No sneaking required.

Honestly, MW ships not being able to separate (and the choice which half you control like the Advanced Escort) is inexcusable. I really hope one day that will be possible.

Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!
That being said, need to cater to all tastes, therefore I understand there will be some models that I won't like.
