Ships too ugly to buy?

mneme0mneme0 Member Posts: 498 Arc User
We've all been there. There's a ship with mad statz that would go very well with one of our characters, and we have zen burning a hole in our virtual pockets. But the ship in question is just! so! ugly! that you cannot in good faith even consider buying it.

What ships fit this description for you?

Me personally? None. If I want a ship, I'll buy it. If I don't, I won't buy it.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

There are no ships too ugly to buy, just players losing their eyesight.

I get ships based on performance not looks

Everyone plays for their own reason. Aesthetics is just as viable as potential DPS.

The fed miracle worker ships are mine.

The Rom MW ships were downright fugly. The Fed Pilot ships, with their clipped 'chicken-wings', wannabe Defiant design, are no beauty either.

I consider aesthetics secondary to performance in game. If I can get a ship that looks good and performs good then that's a bonus imo. Now if you're asking what ships I personally find not so appealing then I would say the Tal-Shiar ships.

Romulan hairbrush bubble ship, although being an escort I'd probably be rejecting it anyway.

Fed MW shipbash ships, always amusing when you hear the devs talking down kitbashing when they smashed two ships together to "create" a new look.

A lot of the klink HB pencil and ruler ships. A style that might have worked for volvo doesn't really fit in with the BoP aesthetic.

      The galactic pizza cutter.

The suliban flight deck, all three of those are meh but suliban one is just a bland looking box

I bought the tucker for the trait and that's by far one of the ugliest ships in the game.

90% of the original Cryptic designed ships basically (Not counting most of the next-gen such as T6 defiant, akira, miranda and so on)... The Odyssey class and derivatives... The that odd Sci-ship from the books...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

      E*******r (and Resolute)
Galaxy (and the Celestial and Envoy)
Intrepid (and the Cochrane and Discovery)
Miracle Worker ships (just the Fed ones)
Command Cruisers (just the Fed ones)

Though the Venture, Andromeda, Monarch, Bellerophon, Pathfinder, and the Klingon and Romulan Miracle Worker and Command Cruisers all look fantastic.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Oh, what is that absolute blight in the game called again? You know, that grotesquely flat, 2mm high Fed ship, that looks like a distorted/deflated cartoon ship. I have a good mind calling CBS one day, and ask they instruct Cryptic to pull it from the game.

I don't care for the Vengeance to be honest. I know a lot of people love it but I could never warm up to it. In contrast, I hated the Miracle Worker Fed ships at first, but I actually warmed up to them (sort of). Oh, I don't really like the Scimitar either.

A lot of the KDF cruisers from the Kurak to command cruisers. Why do things have to be so pug nosed and/or have a neck miles long? This coming from someone who plays a lot of kdf. Looks like they were designed by ancient Egyptians. Yes, I bought them anyway...

Runner up: Scimitard. The ship for those that would like to drive a Cadillac Escalade SUV in real life.

I think you need to be a little more specific? And yes... you have... cause now I am curious.

Lol, go ahead, they'll laugh too.

Humor doesn't translate well on the Internet tonight. Sigh.

Would they really laugh, btw? Cry, more like, I think:

      My list:

      Scimitar.
      Federation miracle worker ships.
      Romulan pilot ships.
      Universe--fortunately not a C-Store ship.
Most variants (e.g. Resolute, Andromeda, Pathfinder).

Perfect for a record player design, it would be unique

The ugly ships are, like others have said, are the pancake ships: Ent-J and other 'future' ships. Also the Delta Pack "TRON" ships are also in a similar vein.

For me, there are no ships that have "mad statz" that are too ugly to buy. There are ships that are too ugly IMO but they usually have terrible stats or average stats at best so it's not a loss for me.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Pretty is as pretty does. If it does what I want, it could look like Rosie O'Donnell and I wouldn't care.

Some of my preferred vessels are ugly as sin.

Have you watched the shows? Like any of them? There are far worse designs made by CBS.
Should be noted that the Universe (or the ENT-J) is a CBS design we just never saw the ship itself from outside only an LCARS screen of in the interior set.

That said "too ugly" is something that's subjective and personal, there's no universal metric for it and what's a "too ugly design" for one person might be another's favorite design and neither of those are wrong they just have different tastes.

The Fed and Romulan Miracle Worker ships for me, but I thought the KDF ships were ok and bought that pack.

The crossfield class, it looks like a rusty pizzacutter and is so disproportionate, it's the fugliest thing I have ever seen.

The universe class doesn't look good at all, it looks like an oval pancake with spindly nacelles.
