Wow...that is a nice update, too. Wouldn't want them to rush through the custom paint part of it. That is what is going to "make" it special.

Please, post pics (with fireworks and parades) once you get your ship.

Hey all, I ordered one of the new Gameprint 4in ships and I thought I would share details with the rest of you who are thinking about buying.

I ordered the ToS Connie as my ship. Price was already listed for that model and was $25 USD for mine. Also shipping was spensive. o.o $8USD so budget that in peeps. But over all its cheaper then Eaglemos, we will see if the quality is better or not.

The only con I see so far is the time it takes to make. Takes 4 to 6 weeks to make the ship and for me at least, they said they wont make it until Aug 7th. x.x My guess is they are backed up pretty good. So expect to wait quite a while.

Thats all, hope it helps someone. :) LLP.

    Rekkoff

Edit: I just noticed they are also having a promotion where ships are being sold at base price. Not sure what a 4in model will cost at standard price.

The cost can also vary a bit depending on the physical parameters of the ship. I captured a Lethean Pilot Escort before settling on a Patrol Escort. The LPE was 25 while the PE was 20.

It's June 1st, 2018. They'll begin production of the ship on August 18th, 2018. I should expect a 3-6 week printing and painting process.

So, if you were thinking of getting one of the 4-inch ships printed...be prepared to wait.

Yeah my order for a 4 inch was slated to start even later than that.

Annoyingly, multiple ships have to pay for shipping individually. So no need for me to order more than one for now. Might as well see if they are any good. If they had combined shipping, I would have ordered at least 2 more ships.

Yeah I'm kinda miffed that they don't have a cart. Seems like a pretty basic feature.

Then again, given the price of the initial offerings, I suppose they aren't used to bulk orders. That doesn't excuse the lack of a cart, but it is a potential reason.

Just got that in my e-mail, it's ready for painting and what not. I love the detail of the 3D print, if you look closely.. You can make out each sepperate window, phaser strips and various edges on the saucer and stardrive section, as well as the Nacelle's.

i'm surprised the windows would even be on the model, given they're (supposedly) part of the texture on the actual STO model

Sweeeeeet. I don't have the time to hand paint something like that myself but I am seriously considering buying a model of USS Bajor, and possibly USS Kalevala (my T6 Odyssey).

Edited my post to make it a bit more clear, I got that picture in my e-mail.. I didn't get the model in the mail, they are going to paint it. But because of the delay it'll take about a month with shipping included.

I'll post pics once I get it. I was thinking I would also post pics, comparing it to a store-bought Galaxy Class model and the ingame model.

I wonder if they will extend the 3d model offering to include the Characters as well as the Ships.

Ordered a 4 inch Excalibur class, all through the process the only timeframe mentioned was 3-6 weeks for production ... then after the order was finalized it said production will begin on September 17th ... good thing I wasn't getting it for someone's birthday or something ...

One thing I'm curious about since the the Excalibur is an older, lower res model, will they be printing it exactly as it is in game, or will they round out the angular polygons they were clearly meant to be curved? I'd prefer the latter, but I'll understand if it's the former.

if they come angled, you could always round them yourself with sandpaper...but then you'd need to repaint those areas unless you got the printed color model

that would be so awesome i can't see it happening, it would melt their 3d printers with the demand! xD

Gameprint extended my delivery again because they had too many orders. We're passing the extended deadline and still nothing, and they are still not replying to e-mails.

I better be blown away by the quality of the ship when it arrives....

I ordered the ship on March the 17th. That's about 3 and a half months of waiting with zero updates and zero communication except some emails saying it's delayed "2-3 weeks".

They said that due to the long wait, we'd get a free gift in the mail within a week.. That was also a few weeks ago, lol.

No offense, but since it looks like your ship is a standard Galaxy-class ship, I have to ask: WHY would you even bother with Gameprint? Here's a plastic Galaxy-class ship on eBay for $5. Surely it would've been much cheaper and way less of a hassle to just buy a Enterprise-D toy, paint it yourself, and add your own decals (or pay a model maker to do it for you). Again, I'm not trying to antagonize you or anything, but I'm just wondering: why deal with Gameprint and their high prices if you don't have to?

I was informed that my customized starship requires more time to finish. They are promising a small gift within a week? I don't know what to expect. I don't like waiting even longer, but I figured I was gambling my money anyway. I really wonder what's so hard about a Connie kitbash.

Here's a close look at 4" patrol escort (fingers for scale and resolution reference). It arrived yesterday (with the original estimate being mid-September.)
    DgzfWeEUYAAXoZO.jpg

    Summary of opinion: it's great.

The material is quite flexible which should help it withstand the rigors of light handling. And while blurry up close, the colored detail of the ship is higher than expected. The name/registry is close to being legible and yet there's fine coloring of hull material detail and windows. The physical detailing is also very crisp, hard edges well defined.

I'm already considering what my next print will be, highly recommended.

I'm impressed with the level of detail at the 4'' size. More and more tempting.

Interesting. So the full color 3D printed models made available in June are being delivered before the orders placed in March. The delay in filling the March orders then is most likely being caused by the hand painting process. Hand painting starships--what with all their windows, escape pods, and hull markings--is probably taking much longer and much more tedious than the humanoid character figures that Gameprint/Mixed Dimensions is accustomed to painting. So they probably grossly underestimated the painting time and are now having to push back the due dates repeatedly.

A word of caution, on reddit someone posted a picture of a refit constitution class and there was some sagging with the pylons and nacelles (the pylons narrow as they connect to the hull and nacelles they're supporting are set at an angle to that point.) The material has some flexibility to it and that is noticeable with thin parts. My escort doesn't have any issues (pylons are holding just fine, angle is perfect and holding) but it's still worth considering physics when selecting a 4" ship (the less robust the ship, the riskier it may be to print at a small scale.)

After a somewhat lengthy delay my painted 12 inch model is currently somewhere in Warsaw on it's way to me down here in Australia.
Here's hoping I don't end up posting pics of it on reddit next to pics of broken monitors...

When did you order yours? I ordered mine on the 17th March and they have not even BEGUN painting yet.
Not getting answers from customer support either.

I bought mine on the 17th as well. They began printing it on the 7th of April.
I was on the verge of contacting them myself when I got the email saying they'd completed it.
Looks like it's just taking them more time than they expected. I'm guessing they got a lot more orders than they usually handle.

Customer Support were going to check with the Studio and I was told to expect an update tomorrow. That that will almost be 2 days, not tomorrow.. The the morning after, due to huge time zones. Blergh.

Will post here once I get the update!

Hold up - they're accustomed to doing humanoid models?

Hey, Cryptic, there's another moneymaker for you - find a way to make the 3D exporting software work with the characters in Champions Online! I may be chronically broke, but I'd find a way to buy figurines of Happifun Security System X-4, Hypernova, and/or Captain Mercaptan...

Jesus H Christ. You ordered your ship in March and they're still working on it in July? Good lord. Also, people who have ordered their ships more RECENTLY after they started offering the smaller versions have already got them. WTF is going on over there?
