I would consider buying playable Cardies if this would be possible. (would be great to have them started on lvl 60, not very interested in Jemmies.)
Or at least Cardie BOFFs..
Bridge Officers, Military Uniforms and Ground Weapons would be nice. I'd say space weapons too, but the devs confirmed in the recent stream that the Intel vessels add a full suite of Spiral Wave Disruptor space weapons to the Dilithium store apparently.

I'm going to assume that the Delta Recruit Re-run WAS the recruitment event. It is possible there will be another at launch, but the Jem'Hadar are the only playable species being added here, Dominion wise. Apparently FED and KLG will have access to playable Cardassian race, but its limited to that. All events that happened prior to Renegades Regret are non-canon regarding these Jem'Hadar. They were not involved in the Iconian or temporal story lines, those were purely Alpha/Beta Quadrant story lines. This is why you start at 60, from here on out all missions will be written for all the factions. If you would like to go back at complete the old missions as a Jem'Hadar, they will be available, but there will be no story line reasons for this, no unique dialog, because they didn't happen. The Cardassians on the other hand, have been involved in the events; they live here. Were a playable cardassian faction to be added at some point, they could start at lvl 1 and do the stories like the rest.
The recruitment thing was a discussion behind the scenes I am sure.. Do we allow brand new players to come and make lvl 60 characters, bypassing all the work the others had to do? I assume the Delta rerun was intended to alleviate this somewhat, but I don't know that for certain..

On tribble there is a 'jem'hadar recruitment event' scheduled according to the calendar. No idea what it actually consists of (or how such an event would work with a character that only has 5 levels to advance in) but its listed so it must be coming
I did actually think of Midnight as I posted, but I believed the point still stood. The Dominion lent aid there, but I got the impression it was a very small fleet, a token if you will. While the Iconians influence reached very far, I don't recall there being much of a focus on the Gamma Quadrant, where the Dominion is almost, if not exclusively, located. The Iconian empire/government was centered in the Alpha/Beta Quadrants, despite their ability to travel anywhere almost instantly. There wasn't much of a threat to the Dominion yet. There may have been one later, thus the help they did give.
I still get the impression that these Jem'Hadar (the character created ones) specifically haven't interacted with our quadrant much, if ever. And even Midnight is the end of the Iconian arc. Given they aren't present until that point, they likely weren't present before. Surprise is primarily expressed during Second Wave as the Dominion hadn't been seen for some time before that point. I do not think it would have been so (or comparisons would have been made) if they had seen these Jem'hadar before that point. It's doable, but much of the story assumtions would have to be rewritten to account for the addition of another faction that isn't even housed in our Quadrant.
I was unaware of the Jem'Hadar Recruitment event, though I have been on tribble recently. If It comes I suspect it to be very different from the previous events, as the characters are completely built already with lvl60 Tier6 capable equipment, no need for rewards there. That said, Much of what is on tribble is subject to change, and I think we'll have to wait and see what actually makes it through in the end..
would be sad, cause i was really looking forward to a new Cardassian toon, but i would appreciate some kind of account wide reward to be starting yet another toon which i'll be investing into.
If not, i'll be OK with taking a Cardassian BOFF

As far as i can remeber towards the end of DS9 Sisko was taken by the prophets and its been a while till STO's current timeline....
