Thanks for posting this so soon after announcing the expansion; I had been wondering what more levels beyond 60 would even mean, when level 50 already means the end of accruing skill points, and specialization point gains already continue after 60. This clears things up, and the proposed rewards for levels 61 to 65 look really promising. The assurance that Tier 6 ships aren't being made obsolete will mean a lot to the ship collectors among us, as well.
Thanks for the info. "Sounds like fun." Interested in the new Captain ability.
I am confused, so you're saying we won't receive specialization points when we gain a level til we get to 65?

The T5 ship token and free T5U upgrade is a very nice gift for F2P players on a budget. I'm LTS with many more ships than my 11 captains can fly, but I can still enjoy this gift by adding some fun ships like the Kar'Fi carrier.
The boff specialization manual and duty officer pack are also appreciated.
I'm also looking forward to trying out the new captain power for each of the 3 careers.
The first thing that caught my eye was the reward at lvl 61.
Claim a free Tier 5 Starship from any Starship Acquisition vendor, then apply a token to upgrade it to Tier 5-U (T5U ships have additional passive traits, and hull capacity scaling, past level 50)
Does this mean the normal, regular leveling starships like the Assault Cruiser or the Vor'cha Battle Cruiser Retrofit, or are you going to open up the CStore to folks and let them claim one of the CStore T5's to upgrade? I'm good with either option honestly, but for some reason I'm hoping it's the leveling ships that will be in this reward simply so I can have an "endgame" Vor'cha.
The free spec manual to train a BOff at 62 is nice as well.
At 63 a new Captain ability? Interested to see what it might be.
Lvl 64 and more DOffs sound excellent to me.
Finally at 65 a free Admiralty card, and it's Garak's ship to boot? Yes, please!
Glad to see there's no new rank name. Really, we don't need it and frankly, I tend to set my title to "Captain" anyway, and if I bother with rank insignia, I don't go above Captain there either. Thousands of Fleet Admirals is bad enough, we don't need those same FA's becoming Presidents of the Federation.
No T7's, thank heavens. I hope they will never EVER be a thing, but I can't say I'll be surprised if it does happen some day.
Upping the item Mark level to MK XV, well, not surprised by that either. Not exactly happy with it, but, I can deal I suppose. I do wonder though, will there be MK XIII and MKIV drops from enemy defeats and mission rewards now from the lvl 60+ content? I would personally hope so, but I won't count on it.
I look forward to seeing more details on all this upcoming stuff.
Is it June yet?
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
"Any existing Specialization XP you have earned above level 60 – progression you currently have earned toward a Specialization Point – will be immediately converted to a free specialization point for your account. This means that anyone who's earned any XP beyond 60 will earn a specialization point right at the start."

That's great!, and the question, the LTS players will get something new??, not that I'm complaining, but it would be a nice touch..
"Captains (or Admirals, or Generals, etc.) have progressed quite far in their careers already. We didn’t feel as though an increase of five levels was sufficient to warrant the inclusion of any further Ranks to signify this career improvement."
But I was so looking forward to becoming a Grand Upper Trans-Admiral! :P
None of this answers one burning question i have on the subject:
Those players who never had a subscription, with they be able to get a vice admiral ship token with the level increase, so instead of being stuck with a T4.5, these players can enjoy actually flying around a proper T5 ship?
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Why wouldn't it? Its a level reward for hitting 61 and the free ship is a T5 ship upgradable to T5-U.
With the increase in max item Mark to Mk XV, will items that we used the Ultimate Tech Upgrade on automatically become Mk XV or will we need to go through the Upgrade process with it?
Star Trek Battles: For those who want to Play Star Trek Online as it WAS MEANT TO BE!!!
What about the Epic Mk XIV Tech Upgrade you can get from the Key Ring Bundle? I still have a couple of those. Will those change in the future to be Mk XV?

it is not specifically stated anywhere in the topic. it makes reference to what is coming, but it doesn't cover if f2p'ers who never had a subscription if they are exempt or not.

Good question! But getting to Epic is the hard part, so even if existing items stay XIV Epic you'll just need to increase the level once with regular upgrade tokens.

Another good question. This one they definitely need to change.

Even if they said it would transfer with just one upgrade token I would not trust it. So glad I held my ultimate upgrades and won't use them until AFTER ViL goes live. There will be bugs for sure...
This all looks fantastic, but I would like to offer a note of caution. The introduction of AoY introduced many bugs into the game that have still not yet all been fixed. Season 14 brought more problems and now with S14.5 the lighting 2 issues are just terrible throughout the game, some places it's ok, other places it makes the game almost unplayable. Wouldn't it be better to sort out all these problems before launching another big season, even if that means pushing back ViL a little bit?
I think they will with the introduction of the x64 client, as it's almost a rewrite of the entire engine.. pretty sure most of the problems will be solved... or new problems will arise.. or both, but anyway it's a new game on x64
With a couple of the perks for subscribing being handed to F2Pers soon, any idea if there will be any new perks/updates for subscribers/LTS players? As far as I know, one of the perks doesn't even work(the one for the forum).
Adding the free T5U ship is nice, but's actually needed at level 50, not 61. Personally, I have all the ships I need, so I'm not trying to get anything for myself. As it is now, a player gets a T5 at level 40, then they have to wait until level 61 to get the ship that they really needed at level 50. Can the very nice admins please confirm how this is going to work?

PWE seems to think we have already had our monies worth. I wouldn't be opposed to a second tier only available to those who have already purchased a lifetime subscribion.
Lifer Tier 2 could include:
5 free keys a month stipend.
A new unique playable race.
Double the current Dilithium refinement cap per day.
Another lifer badge and and Veteran outfit.
Double the current Energy Credit per character and account cap.
A new lifer only Captain's Table station inside of the Wormhole.
A new Veteran ship.
New lifer Bridge and interior.
New lifer title.
More inventory, bank, and account bank slots.
Personally, I'd be all in if the perks included some Section 31 stuff.
Section 31 hull type.
Section 31 black badges and Discovery Section 31 uniform.
Section 31 Veteran ship.
Luther Sloan, Daniels, or another Section 31 Bridge Officer.
Section 31 themed lifer Captain's Table.
Access to gear with a special cosmetic look for Section 31.
A Section 31 themed Bridge and interior.
New title: "Above the law!"
Visual slot special effect shield, engine, and deflector items.
I'd put out another $200 for all of this and some other non-game breaking fluff.

The Lvl 61 ship is for EVERYONE. It says absolutely nowhere that this is an LTS perk. In fact, LTS is not even mentioned in the entire article. The ship gained at lvl 40 is actually T5, not what you claim. It's just not upgradable.
I applaud what you guys have done with the Level perks here. You've made the most generous F2P even more generous!! Even though I'm LTS, I thank you!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
Sounds like if you're already poured points in to an item past hitting MkXIV (upgrading rarity and such), you'll get credit for that effort and perhaps an immediate jump of an item to MkXV if I am reading this correct? That sounds very fair if so.
Also, looking for the answer regarding keyring upgrade to full. Items that players have purchased that upgrade for should also go straight to MkXV imo. That may already be the plan.
