Actually they said you straight up start off in the Dominion.

We're ending the month of March, we have 2 months until it becomes live, hopefully they will reveal more in the month to come, until then, best settle down and kill the speculations. Think it is healthy that way.

Speculation is a big part of the fun.

Confusing considering i already mentioned "the Jem'Hadar are apart of the dominion". read it next time.

does this mean for existing Lv60 chars we will have to level up 5 more times before we can add more points to specializations or will there be a fast track method?

how will this effect balance?, 5 more skill points will mean 5 more skills unlocked in the ENG/SCI/TAC skill trees, plus will there be lvl 65 space/ground rep traits, MK XV(55) > XVV(65) (admiral > newtitle) gear?

It'll probably be like the last time they did the level up, our characters will be able to gain XP just like they can now. When they level, they'll get specialization points. We won't though get any more space or ground points in the pre-specialization skill tree.

As far as gear, I don't think we're getting an increase in Mk stuff, nor a new rank this time.
i hope they don't shoehorn the Gamma Quadrant missions like they did with the whole temporal cold war missions all over the place and out of sync, the best time to enable player access to the GQ would be right after the 1st Gq mission during the cardassian struggle arc similar to what cryptic done with the dyson sphere and DQ arcs.

    One can only hope.

They might not necessarily add the rank after Fleet Admiral, they could add the rank of Commodore between Captain and Rear Admiral and scroll the rank names upwards making Fleet Admiral 65.

As for a new rarity maybe they will eventually add a legendary rarity maybe with a red colour, I can't think of what other colour could be used.

Is anything known about the new Jem'Hadar bug ships yet?
I think all we have is the statement that there's between 0 and 2 ships Jem'Hadar players will get.

Thx for the information on ViL. I sure hope those new Jem ships will be available to others too.

    Between 0 and 2 means 1

Not really. :) 'Between 0 and 2' denotes a range from 0-2. Like when someone asks you to "Pick a number between 1 and 10," they don't just mean 2-9: 1 and 10 are included.

'Inbetween 0 and 2', however, indeed, means 1.

Characters start earning Spec points at Lvl 50, so there will be no change, giving one point per level increase, and it will not give you any extra skill points to spend as that ends at lvl 50. There will be no changes to Ranks or Equipment and most certainly NO T6U, T7, T5U+, T1++++++ or any other changes to ships tiers or mechanics.

As for T7s: I'm happy that they won't be a reality for a while.

Sure, other companies release new products all the time, but the difference here is that the game is the product. Apple would need to release and add new batteries, new covers or new camera's to their existing phones for such a comparison to make sense.

The game is Cryptic's iPhone if you will - and just like the components of an iPhone aren't updated every year or two, neither should one of the most important working parts of this game be replaced in such a short period of time.

For the sake of clarity, the numbers here came about from the guys on the last Ten Forward trying to walk back from discussing the ship Jem'Hadar players will be starting with (in an amusing way.) It's best not picked apart too closely (it's one implicitly confirmed ship for the Jem'Hadar faction.)

They may add Commodore but there is no rank above Fleet Admiral in Star Trek unless they add ambassador or federation council

Why would you need a new Rank just because the Character Level is going up? Tell me other MMOs that need to provide new Ranks or Titles every time the Character Level raises. They are not introducing a new Ship Tier so a Rank is not needed.

'Progression' reminds me if what LOTRO did a few years ago with their Legendary Items (Weapons and Class specific items). They were originally meant to be that special Weapon that stayed with you. Problem was every five to ten Character Levels from 50 to 100, you needed to dispose of it and equip and level up a new higher Level Weapon. When the Player Level reached 100, they ended all that and came up with a concept called Imbuement. You kept the same Level 100 Weapon, had it Imbued, and now that same Weapon could have its Stats and added 'Legacies' leveled up further. With Character Level max at 115 now, you could do another 69 'Tiers' of leveling of those Stats.

Of course you need to get Store or equivalent stuff to unlock those higher 'Tiers'.

For STO new Weapon and Item Tiers. Maybe pay the Store to unlock a new Console slot or some such stuff.

Generally, there's likely not going to be any big information released until after Season 14.5 comes out and we're closer to summer.

Given that there's voiceover work of Spock addressing you by rank and I don't see them being able to record new lines from that source... I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing new rank-titles in STO. Ever.

They could use others for that. Kumaarke is already tied to the new sectors in the Alpha Quadrant if I'm not mistaken and Sela had some voice overs for the Tau Dewa sectors.

Fleet Admiral is as high as it gets in Starfleet, though. They could always pull from other sources and invent the next step but I don't think Trek is ready for Supreme Bashar yet.
