Workaround: "Failed to launch GameClient.exe: client quit unexpectedly" error

Since today i get this nice little error message after the launcher has patched my game. I found out that there are some missing files but i got it working. Maybe this helps you too.
- disable on "demand patching" in the launcher
- look for your star trek online folder
- change into the "Live" folder
- locate the "x86" folder (x64 is for 64 bit...might work too) and copy all files it contains to the "Live" folder. DO NOT OVERWRITE EXISTING FILES!
- go to the live folder and create a Textfile "start.txt"
- open "start.txt* and use this commandline:
start /b GameClient.exe -Locale english -server 208.95.186.11 -server 208.95.186.13 -server 208.95.186.12 -server 208.95.186.37
- save "start.txt" and then rename it "start.bat"
start.bat will now launch the gameclient without the launcher and you will hopefully see the normal login screen and you can login.
I hope the launcher will work again soon. So this is only a temporary workaround.

It worked but was not in the right resolution. Are there some extra options to start it up in a higher than default resolution?
I have been in contact with tech support for over a month now and they are now saying that they can not fix the problem as its an issue with my machine. My machine works properly with Champions online but not STO for whatever reason.
I suspect you have turned on "dont show known file extensions" in windows explorer. Turn it off and it should let you rename the file from txt to bat. You can also try to open a cmd and change directory to your sto\live folder, then type ren start.txt start.bat.
Its not a problem with your machine. Mine worked fine till yesterday...then it happend fo no sane reason. I dont think there is an option. I was able to play in windowed mode which is almost my desktop resolution.
All options i know are the following:
-showfps
Will show a frame rate counter at the top right of the screen while in-game.
-showmem
Will show the memory usage of the game, including video memory in the top right of the screen.
-netgraph
Shows ping, sent and received packages (bottom left), also includes a graph of your ping (bottom right)
-locale language
Starts the game using a specific language pack.
english
german
french
example: -locale english
-server
Will connect to the specified account server(s) while starting the game.
By default the game will already connect to these servers.
Known account servers:
208.95.186.11
208.95.186.12
208.95.186.13
208.95.186.37
example: -server 208.95.186.11
-setproxy
Europe eu1.proxy.crypticstudios.com 80
North America us1.proxy.crypticstudios.com 80

-safemode
Starts the game in safemode
Warning: Overwrites your graphic settings to the lowest possible settings.
-enabledebugconsole
Enables a console ingame (by pressing the ~ key) that allows / commands.
-console
Will open up a command prompt console along with starting the game, the console will display useful debug information ranging from network to loading game resources.
Hit the Pause key to pause the console and game client during loading
Hit the Enter key to continue
Will also tell you if any other command line parameters are invalid.
–NoAutoRotateLogs
Will create a single file for each log type instead of timestamped logs.
EDIT: changed console commands
If cryptic patches next time, you have to patch it once again wit the launcher/arc. Then you can again use the start.bat. Or better...it will work again normal hopefully
And to quote myself...i think it has something to do wit the patch servers since i cannot reach the eu or us patching proxy since yesterday...ping works fine but the launcher cannot connect and patch.
...not to think a dev will read it in the official forums...and i dont like reddit...
