Would have been a better poll if there weren't two yes options. Its semi biased, but at least there's a negative and neutral option.

Either way... I'm gonna remain neutral. We haven't seen Romulans use a Klingon design since the 23rd Century.

I only included two yes options because I knew a number of people have been repeatedly requesting this specific ship for years now. Otherwise it would have just been 1 Yes, 1 No, and 1 Neutral :)

No. There are better designs to use
    1. Why would the Romulans re-make something long since retired, especially when there are better ships already?
    2. Presumably all the mothballed ships were either scrapped or destroyed in the Hobus incident!
    3. Why are people so backward about moving forward!?
    4. Even if one was made, people would be up in arms that it doesn't beat everything else!
    5. In response to the poster asking for Science. the D7 is a Battlecruiser, not a science vessel!
    6. As someone who has two Rom toons, I much prefer Romulan designs, not a borrowed Klingon Scow!

    This.

As is my custom, I voted against the observably biased answers. This just happens to also be how I feel on the subject, though. So, No.

Ok, allow me to explain. There is no bias in this Poll.

In previous discussions with players I had noticed that there was a definite distinction among those who approve of a D7R - some are moderate, others are more fanatical. I have not observed previously such a distinction among those who oppose that ship. I wanted to gauge just how big of a difference there actually was among the Yes voters, it's literally that simple. I did not, thanks to my previous conversations on the topic, foresee such a potentially wide gap in the negative crowd - which is exactly why I did not make a separate "No, I hate the idea" answer to this Poll.

This does not make the Poll biased. If it was biased, the question and answers would have been manipulating you to answer Yes or No, etc. This Poll does not do that in any way. The fact that there are two clearly distinct versions of a Yes answer demonstrates analytical curiosity and a desire for accuracy, nothing more. Also, the wording of the No answer is equally applicable to a range of sentiments against the D7R. I'm not leading anyone to answer one way or another and I am providing a range of possible answers and sentiments, in other words: this isn't a biased poll.

For some pertinent information on biased polls see here: https://surveytown.com/10-examples-of-biased-survey-questions/

1: Well... we got the T6 Maleum, which is basically an upgraded T'varo which saw action in the 22nd Century.
2: The T'liss that the player starts with says otherwise. Same with the Delan, which was apparently a mid to late 23rd Century design according to the lore.

No, I do not want the Romulan D7, because I loathe and detest the Singularity Core shenanigans. What I want is an available T6 KDF D7. The only one that exists is freaking UNOBTAINIUM, just impossible to get. There should be one we can buy in the Z store for the usual 3K Zen

I...wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

The subject came up recently on Ten Forward Weekly of any one of the big three playable factions being able to fly top-tier ships that belong to either of the other two. For example: Romulans flying Klingon ships. CBS vetoed it. So, while the Romulan D7 is canon, it could be hitting a major point of contention for how STO can use the IP. Add to that the necessary condition of making it a promo ship (otherwise, it's an end-game no go, IP rules again) and the fact that it didn't happen with AOY (we got the Thrai warbird instead), I think the prospects are very dim of this ship ever being playable.

How do you explain the prevalence of T'liss Light Warbirds in many battlezones?

In any case, sure. Make it part of some kinda "cross faction science-lite cruiser" bundle. Give the Feds a T6 Ambassador, the Empire a T6 Kamarag, and the Republic a T6 D7/Kamarag. Using the same model(s) for two factions should lower the cost. Just give the Republic and the Empire their own unique hull material.

At this point, no I have enough ships as it is. I'd rather have more good and interesting content to fly them in put out than ships at this point. I'd also like rewards for doing said content and not just unending grinds.

Khenn warbird FTW I say. Would complement the lockbox-based TOS-style dreadnought rather nicely!

Yes. Canon ship, so make it available. As for plausibility - do people really pretend ships need to make logical sense at this point? Starfleet fields 22nd century ships at T6.

I'm neutral when it comes to the Romulan D7.

It's not a Warbird, though. Non-Warbird ships usually tend to be borrowed from the other factions, the old D7's wouldn't really fit with the Republic ship list very well.

I do fly a Klingon D7 but don't have a Rom character. So I'm neutral, but can understand why Rom players would want one of their very few canon ships. The problem is how you do it; anything other than a promo pack is a kick in the teeth for those who've gone to the effort of acquiring one. I think the only option would be to put it in the existing 23c promo pack so Klingon or Romulan characters could select the existing D7; after all only the Roms had two different ships in TOS.

Other thoughts... we do see Rom D7s in game so they do exist as a model. Feds and Klingons can get TOS ships by other means; Feds have their T6 temporal ships while Klingons can get the T5U fleet K't'inga with a D7 skin - granted the result is that DS9 hybrid version but it's still not a bad option. It would be nice to see the Roms get an affordable 23rd century ship.

If we have a T6 Connie, then I see no reason not to have the D7R. I would want it to be a battle cruiser with a warp core, and not a science vessel. A science themed cruiser could work, but please, not with a singularity core. The worst part of playing Romulan is that you get stuck with singularity cores.
I don't know who the Ferengi were who drew up the deal between CBS and Cryptic, but the D7R is a legitimate Romulan ship. In canon, in the prime universe, the Romulans had a bunch of them as part of their fleet.

Basically, the D7 is the original version of the K'Tinga class used by the Klingons. There was another variant of the ship that is often referred to as D7R - which looks exactly the same but with the Romulan bird paint job and some other subtle changes.

I would say that better design exists.

According to the following Memory-Alpha link the reason why the Romulans wanted the D7 Battlecruiser was for the power system to provide the power required to use the new improved cloaking device. The source of that tidbit of information is from the 2010 anthology work called Seven Deadly Sins.

    http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Romulan-Klingon_Alliance

It is rather apparent by the Star Trek:TNG era that the Romulans have been able to overcome that issue. Therefore, it is no longer necessary for the Romulan Star Empire / Republic to build modern ship designed around Klingon aesthetics or to refit a 23rd century ship.

That is definitely true, neither the Empire nor the Republic need the D7R's designs for any kind of technological reason.

The way I could see the Romulans using these ships is as a direct result of the fallout after the Iconian War. The Alliance, including the Romulans, lost a lot of ships during that war and are desperate to rebuild their forces as quickly as possible. It would be fairly easy to locate retired ships and refit them to modern standards as a sort of stand in until better vessels can be completed. It would be the perfect story excuse to explain the sudden appearance of such old and outdated ships like the D7.

No. Better designs available. Mogai/Morrigu/Valdore make a better Romulan Battlecruiser than a Klingon ship, but that's just the opinion of my two Romulan characters. My Reman is allied with the KDF and would'nt turn down a free one, but I have already paid for those others and prefer them.
