With this new sink hole of a Fleet 'Holding' upon us, this is not a good time to be creating a Solo Fleet.

I'm running into more and more rude players. They think they may not be rude but their behavior is rude and i let them know that before I ignore them. Today alone I ignored at least three people. I did join one fleet and was disappointed there was no projects for me to contribute to then one player had the nerve to say go ahead and create that Romulan fleet, so as a result of his disrespect towards me, I left the fleet and ignored him, but I found a new fleet that I'm happy with
You are asking a member of the KDF to not fight ? Ask the sun not to shine, ask Cryptic to not release buggy content undocumented features, heck, even ask the forum trolls to not be trollish but to be polite instead, but you don't ask KDF not to fight.
Unless you get them unconscious in a Blood Wine stupor.

I created a Fleet once, way back when (just for player-housing, LOL). It was customary, in the day, to offer something for people's trouble, usually like 50-100k or something -- just a token number, really. I saw, and see, nothing so grievous about that process. I didn't owe them anything per se, nor were they seeking exorbitant numbers of EC. Just a courtesy, really: they did something for me, and I would have felt ashamed not to recompense them, if even in a small manner, for their effort.
I see giving compensation to players that help make/start-up a fleet in the same light as the idea of why some people only buy zen at certain prices. Which is that they view their time vestment as being quite valuable, whether it is the time you put in to grind out dil or the short time to create or start up a guild, both are an investment of time on that player's behalf. If anything else I think giving compensation is fine when making a small guild/fleet, since if the person helping is not going to be staying they would not be getting the benefits of the fleet/guild in the long run. I also have meet some players that just hate the idea of not giving compensation to those players that help them.
I have a couple alts in a storage fleet I recently got going. I offered 1 million to each person who helped me start it. Only issue I had was one guy(gal?) who kept trying to convince me I had offered like 10 million, they almost got ignored over that one. But I paid out 4.5 million across 4 people. 1.5 million to one guy who really went out of their way to help me get a full group.
My offer still stands to the OP or for anyone whenever they may need a helping hand. I don't need the compensation of things I don't need, thank you. I have enough in-game already and don't mind helping a fellow player out. A simple "thank you" is more than enough.
I know that rubs your sense of greed and self importance the wrong way, but there's nothing I can do about that.
You're the one getting weird about this, by the way. Taylor was giving advice, not being greedy. Plenty of fleets offer compensation for joining (Dental included, but we're very selective about who joins, and in turn who gets that compensation), and plenty of people offer compensation for helping them create fleets. This is already happening in the game and has been for years. You help players in your own time for free? Great. So do I.
I've also seen people on all night begging for people to help them start a fleet, too.
Thanks for that. I very much appreciate it. o7
And to the other comments that followed.
There are good, reasonable people around these parts after all.

What?!?!?!
Good, reasonable people.......on an internet forum?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whether this is a lie, thus making my previous statement not true which would mean that not everyone is a liar and that I may be speaking the truth after all is something I'll leave up to discussion...

An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

@OP: Hmm, you seem to be mighty sensitive when it comes to people telling you things you weren't prepared to hear. Players telling you you're better off joining an existing Fleet (barring exceptional circumstances) weren't wrong, let alone rude: you just didn't want to hear that. Like one player who "had the nerve to say go ahead and create that Romulan fleet." That's not rude (why, either that, or you have a rather unworkable definition of 'rude').
And as for "disappointed there was no projects for me to contribute to," that too is quite normal. New Fleet members tend to want to generate a lot of Fleet Credits quickly, but then find there are other in Fleet too, who want the same.
N.B. To the powers that be: FIX THE D*MN EDIT BUG! DON'T SAY YOU'RE NOT LAZY: *BE* NOT LAZY!

Well, just because it's more interesting than the actual topic...that statement being a lie only means not everyone here is a liar. You could still be a liar and that would still be a lie as long as any other poster(s) were not. No paradox.
Much of the time, compensation can entice someone to join. Time itself is a commodity. Or offering the right kind of pitch. Is your fleet a roleplay fleet with a particular theme to it? Play up the theme, give people a small taste of what it's about to lure them. Presentation can go a long way if you have the charm. Does the fleet have a uniform that requires certain lobi store outfit bits? Offer to help fund the uniform, or supply the uniform if you have the wealth to do so, as an example.
From someone who started out a solo fleet originally, then expanded to something more, with that fleet, I can say that unless you have multiple alts, or a gaggle of resources in your coffers, bankrolling it out of the infancy is very difficult, and this is where you work on people skills if you want to expand, as well as work to retain numbers.

Queues? In WoW I initiate a kick vote, but that's not an option in STO unfortunately
