Unexpected reinstall

in Windows and General: PC, Network, and Other Technical Issues
So yesterday I played STO as usual with no issues, log on today or rather try to log in only to find that my launcher has to install the game and perform a full 20gb patch for no apparent reason.
Am patching the game over night and will see if I can play tomorrow however felt this needed reporting.
Anyone have any ideas on this issue or also having this problem?

    a workaround ,begin installing ,stop at 3-5% ,find the new location the game wants to be in ! copy files from old location to the new one ...

    example

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Arc\Star Trek Online_en - old location

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Arc\Star Trek Online
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Arc\Star Trek Online_de - (possible new locations)
    C:\ (...) \Arc\Star Trek Online_(...)

    I just did the first completely fresh install in a long time. Decided to do a fresh Windows 10 Creators install which by the way, is pretty different from what I'm used to since Cortana talks to you through the process.

    Put patcher in C:\Program Files (x86)\Cryptic Studios and nothing else and kick it off. Must say, the recent changes took out some extra bloat in there.

    By the way, don't try this if you've installed using Steam or Arc because they both hijack the install path all the way down to the registry.

    For the curious, a fresh full install of STO is around 16Gb.

    June 19th 2017 - Logged on this morning. Had some trouble getting on at first, stuck at the version verification screen. Closed out and relaunched, no issues. Played for a couple hours and exited. Come back 5 hours later and it wants to do a full 14gb reinstall and a scan of the computer shows no indication STO was ever installed (Neverwinter Nights seems unaffected, but I seldom play that).

    Glad I'm not the only one... although it would have been an interesting excuse for a new computer. :-) Now to go watch Star Trek Continues until this download finishes. Ugh!

    I just had the same thing happen. Played fine yesterday and just now went to play, said I didn't have the game installed. Now doing a 20gb install. Sure hope my captains are not affected. I was about to try and buy the LTS but I don't want to start over... :(

    I just had this happen to me as well. I updated last night and got a fresh patch. I try to log in this morning and ARC is telling me I need to re-install the whole game. I live in an area where the net is slow. Downloading 14gb could take me 2 days. How or why was the game uninstalled?? What happened to my characters if anything? If I don't know why this happened, it could easily happen again.

    So I did the reinstall two days ago and all of the people were will there. It did affect my graphic settings which was annoying but not a huge deal.

    Sat down today to play... said I needed to reinstall again today! It seems like a ACR launcher problem. Going into the Program Files folder and finding the STO exe, the game just launched as normal. Now I am officially done using ARC.

    This happened to me as well. played not too long ago and now having to do a full reinstall about 14GB

    Yeah same problem here with me. Not happy, logged off last night, and this morning I am required to install the game. So off to play another game, I can't be bothered dealing with this today.

    It has happened to me yet again so I went in to the STO directory and ran it from there, works fine.
