dilithium cap increase

There is one thing that i would like to see in game for the grinders to benefit from making dill, because i have been running into this same question a lot, why not increase the dill cap to 16k instead of 8k which we are all getting at the moment or even bring something like that out as an event because their is events for everything else nearly a think, A don't want this comment to turn into a debate but that is the only thing that needs to happen in game. cause i play this game all the time and a love it game play is second to none but at the moment the npc scaling damage is a bit buggy but still manage to get there in the end. I apologize for the bad grammer am not the best at getting thoughts down on paper because this may seem like gibberish.

thanks for taking the time to read this post.

The refinement cap is one of the things that sorta helps regulate the Dilithium Exchange. Can only refine so much a day, making said amount available to the market. Neverwinter has something similar with their Astral Diamonds, but I think the refine cap is like 42k or something... and their Astral Diamond Exchange is... frankly... FUBAR last I saw. Too much on the market driving the price of Zen up.
Then again it could also be a symptom of them using Astral Diamonds instead of gold in the Auction House, which would be the equivalent of using Dilithium instead of ECs.

This topic has come up many times in the past, and usually always result in two factions coming up: One for a higher cap and one against that doesn't want the Dilithium Exchange to go anymore wild than it gets on its own.

Also... don't assume EVERYONE gets a set amount a day.

but that's the thing free to play have to refine every 20 hrs were paid and lifetime refines automatic it would be good if they did increase it because the game has been out for nearly 7 yrs and we have all ready had a lvl cap increase, 3 expansions loads of ships to purchase and loads of other thing as well. (the max dill per day 8k per toon)

in my opinion it seems like the dill increas is the only thing left that needs done.

When you increase the cap you have to increase rewards and more importantly costs by the same amount so nothing changes. The system in place is balanced around the amount of dil you can refine a day. The short term goal of getting more zen/dil in short time while everything else stays in place doesn't work in reality.

At the same time as you increase the Dil refine cap we also need to increase the amount for the zen/dil exchange rate. My zen s easily worth 750 each so I support the dil refine increase. As long as an increaase also includes the exchange rate. If not I'll settle for a steady 500 dil each.

Allowing other characters to refine and exchange dilithium always seemed like it fudged the whole point of the cap. I guess it's around about way to try to encourage more transactions by forcing player investment across multiple characters.

But you can technically make junk mule characters that exist only to refine dilithium every day. The only problem then is finding ways to get them unrefined dilithium every day that won't be exhaustingly tedious, since they aren't characters you want to be playing.

Not the best system. But could be worse, I guess.

Not everyone nabs 8k/day on every alt every day. Those that do, I believe, are only playing the game to generate as much Dil as possible.

While there is nothing wrong with that (or any) play style, I question the fun of logging onto every single alt to generate 8k/day every single day on every single alt.

OP, you are not thinking clearly. Changing the refinement cap from 8k to 16k would only inflate the dilithium/zen exchange back up to 500 dil per zen. Meaning that you wouldn't get any benefit from an increase in the refinement cap. And as others have said, create more characters.

Arrrrrgh!!! What's with the FCT's this week!

No to this. OP, you can't change the Dil cap or you will destabilise the Dil-Zen economy to the point it will be 500 to 1 within the week! The Dil economy is similar to our Oil economy. Too little and the price goes up, too much and the price goes down.

I can't remember the last time I made 8k or more Dilithium on an character in a day. Probably close to 3 years now. The only time I refine 8k Dil a day anymore is when I get the bonus for getting a Rep to T5, or an event reward, like the current Mirror Invasion.

    Not everyone farms Dil 24/7.

The things is there's more thing out there like Fleet + Fleet upgrades + Rep T5 and also R&D upgrading for better items to MkXIV Epic,
shields armour and all the other things that just costs you Dilithium only.

you dont need to farm Dilithium 24/7 because it is one of the most Easy thing to get.

why try to fix something in this game that actually works fine? I mean, having a balanced and funtional market is something that rarely happens in an MMORPG, why TRIBBLE around with that?

May we please have a verdict on this subject? We have also had a request that has been seconded and thirded to add the subject of raising the refine cap to the F.C.T.

I could care less about the exchange, I'd enjoy doubling the cap because I don't play tons of alts either.

It is also not very expensive to purchase at 300 Dil for $0.01 or 30k Dil for $1 USD; or your country's equivalent. It would be nice if the current exchange rate was 500:1 when purchasing Dil, but Steve Riccossa (EP of STO) stated having a high exchange rate is bad for the F2P community and thus bad for Cryptic.

    fair point
The dilithium cap exists for a reason. Educate yourself on what that reason is, if you do not already understand it.

aw right a get it now cheers
