Got an email from Perfect World titled "open for an EPIC opportunity". It landed in my junk mail folder which is something that doesn't usually happen to mail from either Cryptic of PWE. So I'm not sure if it's genuine. Anybody got some information about that?
Changed title to clarify that this thread is about the XP Boost email NOT the TOS Holo-BOFF email. - BaddMoonRizin
Changed title again and merged threads since there has been crossing posting.
Check the sender's email address by hovering your cursor over the 'displayed' address. Alot of fake ones will try to spoof an address (Banks etc).
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
That should be fine as it is the standard address for it's marketing emails.

Its a "Large Experience Boost", hardly what I'd call an "Epic" opportunity. Perhaps "small bonus for doing what you were going to do anyway" might be better wording.
I would have to agree about it being "Epic". At first, I thought I was getting another Oddy. lol It almost sounds like STO is having retention issues this season.
i got the e-mail too, and hopefully this won't be unlocked through the promotion tab...because i've already gotten a large experience boost through another giveaway, and it's a once-per-account claim
which means that, unless they either convert the item's coding to allow for repeatable earn-and-claim or reset the 'already claimed' flag, i and everyone else who already got this through one of those other giveaways once before are getting screwed out of it
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

The Force is united within me.
Got it as well (first time for one so yay). However, the only one I can see is in the promotions tab which I've claimed previously. So boo. Oh well, guess I shouldn't be too disappointed since it's only a 10k xp boost.
So i gather you must login 3 days in a row to get this reward? It looks that way to me.
Anything free is nice, but i looks like they are desperately trying to keep players in the game this season.
Doom?????
no it would be doom if it was something amazing to the point of being too good to be true but this is oddly half hearted for a cryptic giveaway. can't really complain cause free stuff is nice but this is a rather baffling choice. I don't think I ever seen them give away just a exp boost before.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Well if they give away something that is actually huge, it is money from their bottom line, this just encourages a three day log in streak to boost metrics.
What they call 'Large' is hardly that anymore. But thankful for the Bonus.
Yes, I received the email as well. Not sure if all you need to do is login (once) during the three days, or once a day for the three days, or whether you need to login through Arc, whether it's an Account unlock or each Character needs to do this.

Well considering the body of the message says...
"Captain, the Starfleet applauds your daily dedication to the cause. Login to Star Trek Online for the next three days to receive an award."
I am led to assume that you have to log in each day of the next three.

I did noticed over the weekend that there were some returning players to the game, so this might be a way to try to retain those people who are returning. I also thought "Doom". lol I wouldn't doubt the metrics have been hurting since S12.
If STO has any sort of problem with retention, it's a likely a lack of new content.
And conversely, at a certain point in the game, a lot of content is locked behind doing past content, taking away player's choice to do the missions they want and forcing them to do older missions they might not want to.
They should let people start any story arc they are leveled high enough for, not locking them behind having completed the previous arcs. (This seemingly starts with the Delta Quadrant, which is easily the worst part of the game and probably causes so many people to quit)
So I get a email yesterday that say's log in for the next 3 days for a large experience boost but I don't see anything in game about claiming it? Did anyone else get it
I just received an email from perfect world thanking me for my support of Star Trek online and a free gift. I have three days to log on and claim a large experience boost. I have logged on, check the promotions tab and it appears that I already claimed this some time ago. Is this just a duplicate email or do I need to do something else to claim it?
Been thinking about creating a new toon. This should help.
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.
Things I want in STO:
1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Yeah, some clarification would be nice. If I have to log in thru Arc, then I won't be getting this reward. Not a big deal since I can make 10K XP on a single Admiralty mission. But for those with lower level alts or are thinking of making new ones, this will help speed things up.

If you got it yesterday, you obviously couldn't have logged in for 3 days yet.

Didn't get anything. Didn't care. The 10 spec points, from earlier, I could have used; a bit of XP boost I hardly call 'Epic', though. Besides, got all the spec trees done on my Rom now anyway, so I'm good as it is.

Bit of a weird one really.

Just don't forget to take that left turn in Albuquerque.
