The Map.
I love this map. It is gorgeous. Like Risa it needs to be a permanent place. Like risa I doubt it really takes up serious cloud resources to keep it available once the event ended.
The Event.
I love it. My old high school music. Old fashioned scavenger hunts from decades before smartphones. Rocket launches which were a huge thing with families, again pre-internet. Wonderful.
The Fail.
The player doesn't have to play. This is corrosive. It is terrible for the game. But a person can just sit there. And get the same rewards. If this is by design just let them join and quit immediately. Heck just give them a 30 minute button and stay out of the way of the rest of us.
The Wrapup.
Anyway lovely gorgeous area. Make it permanent.
Event was well conceived.
And poorly implemented.
Edited: removed gratuitous parts

And the last part, with the launch... I heard Magic Carpet Ride start up and I just couldn't help but smile.

Edit: it is more fun when everyone plays though
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
Please tell me that players can't do that to each other.
If so then I need to be able to shoot them to prevent further damage, I will even use the event appropriate Cochran shotgun.
Other than the surprise fire fun event.

Agreed. Although seeing an AFKer's rocket blow up a second after liftoff is good for a few laughs.
Nope. Its just a random thing that can happen. Like how you have to sometimes prop up your sandcastle or chase off a monkey during the summer event.

That said, it's a bloody stupid implementation. Cryptic, make up your damn minds: if you want to give rewards away for free, bloody actually do that. If you want people to have to do something, bloody well ensure they actually have to.
This implementation is neither here nor there, and that's f'n stupid.
This is a game and virtual entertainment to be played during free time, Now i'm sure i'll get some remarks about well its you're choice to have 22 characters and that's true but i wanted to fly different ships and use different species so creating alts was a ness to do that.
I'll guess i'll have to wait for the next Phoenix Box.
Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.
I'm only running my "Faction Mains", which is 4. The rest I haven't really done anything other than run Admiralty on for a while.

Not leechers as such - my reward won't get hurt. But if I play it, I'd like to compete, not auto win by being the only one actually showing up. As has been said, this is not the best way to handle this.
(Disclaimer though: I have run "empty" on a few toons myself, so I am not one to judge those who do likewise, even though I played most of them. This complaint is directly aimed at implementing the event in a way that absolutely encourages players to sit it out, because they won't even get a single mark, as they may do in Mirror)
Not a big thing, just a 'hey, that'd be nice'.
This implementation was to get people to be in the game for 10 minutes per participating character. Mission accomplished.
I'm especially enjoying their innovative use of elevation in the recent map designs.
The scenery. The tall trees are a thing of beauty. And reminded me of my time out west.
While I support making this map a permanent fixture in the game, those who are curious can look around for bit after the queue ends. You've got a couple minutes to roam around. Take some screen shots etc.
At least I do the event simultaneously with characters on my primary and secondary accounts. And I can do so when I need to <ahem>... take care of some private business...

They in essence turned it another grind with a very very very limited window.
Klingons & Romulans don't care about Montana and its Star Trek history.
Bring back Day of Honor - I am grateful for free stuff, but doesn't have to be turned into a grindfest, especially when the holiday or celebration means nothing to both the Klingons and Romulans, Montana!? Really Cryptic?
Yeah, that one was uncalled for. Saw it too.
I get a little bit of lag on this map, any one else have lag?
