As long as there are Specializations... they can make variants of existing ships and make new ships to cover each specialization. Hell... maybe we'll even see an Assault Cruiser with Pilot seating sometime.
Not likely. 100% sure the "rebalancing" is prep work for t7. I'm pretty sure I know for a fact it is.
Care to pick one of those? You have no better idea than anyone else what's going to happen, unless there's some leak we all need to be aware of.

Anyways, I object because of its name. Heavy weapon slot. Where do Dual Heavy(!) cannons go?... Just rename it please to massive or yuge or whateva... Yuuge Weapon Slot... yeah it sounds much nicer... just leave the heavy adjective alone if you have already used it once... ty.
I agree. It irks me that nobody at Cryptic really puts any thought into naming things in their game, be it ship classifications, weapon types or items. It's all over the place and nothing makes sense in relation to each other. Heavy cruisers being tiny compared to some "light" cruisers, "heavy" weapons like DHCs and the new slot reserved to the smallest vessels, it all makes little sense.
If this new slot is generally 360 degree it should have been called "point defence" or "support turret" or even "tactical turret" or something like this, not keep the biggest battlecruisers from being able to carry heavy weapons. Why can a B'Rel BoP carry dual cannons or dual heavy cannons to begin with when the two literally are the same, but heavies are simply better - why is ship size not a factor in slotting "heavy" cannons? Think of the Negh'Var cannons as "heavy" - those are numerous times the size of a B'Rel alone.

It's okay. Just pull out your wallet again, and also grind the same content harder. It helps end-game 'content development.' Or just start playing your other low tier ships too since game content is so easy. /sarcasm
and please introduce T7 ships to make all the T6s ships second class so we'll have to invest again.

cruiser and science ships get nothing for escorts having an extra 8th 360 arc weapon slot.
Why do escorts need a 360 arc weapon slot? the whole point of them is keeping the front arc on target to deal damage.
Cruisers got Cruiser Commands, the most weapon slots, and the most device slots.
Science ships got Sensor Analysis, Target Subsystem, and Secondary Deflector
Escorts/Raptors had nothing up until now.
