Game insists graphic drivers are outdated

Since Saturday afternoon, launching STO gives this error, which says that my drivers are out of date:
System_Specs_Check.png

However, my drivers are Radeon 16.10.2:

This is the latest version, released on the 20th October:

I updated my drivers on Saturday. Ironically, it was not giving this error on Thursday night, Friday night, nor Saturday morning (i.e. before I updated to the drivers which had been released on Thursday)

Graphics card is AMD Radeon R9 270X

    Bump for this.
I am constantly surprised at how many steps down Cryptic is able to take this game engine. I have built 3 computers since this game launched and every single one of them (running AMD GPU's) has had issues that you just have to live with. Every single major update seems to have some new game crashing glitch.
I can't even run this game for more than 20 mins in DX11 without the game crashing. Its sad that the only way i can even play this game is by using a 12 year old graphics API, and just turning effects on/off until i find that magic combination of suckage and apathy. I always just get fed up with the technical problems and walk away for 6 months to a year at a time. But i always come back, hoping beyond hope that they have somehow managed to make their game work properly. Sadly, i am always disappointed. In this case, i have a R9 390X with 16.10.2 drivers.

    Same problem here.
    I've got a AMD Radeon R9 380
Drivers are up to date (16.10.2)
The launcher claims the drivers are outdated, and when I try to launch anyway, GameClien.exe crashes.

I'm getting the same notice, but i'm still running the game just fine at max... which is kind of funny given the notice.

the work around the crash i found was to launch in safemode with amd builds. Im running AMD A10 with R7 graphics the notice is annoying but after launching in safemode and changing setting after it works just fine, also instead of running fullscreen i switched to windowed maximized and DX11 is running smooth. Im not sure but i think a few lines of code might have become corrupt in the server DB that holds the accepted driver versions. before the maintenance on the 19th i didnt receive the error im running the same crimson version as everyone else as well.

also shut off the on demand patching as well as turned on the reduced file streaming had a positive effect as well.

for those of you experiencing crashing does it give any type of error code?

No error code, no error message from STO at all. I get only the Windows error message "GameClient.exe has stopped working"
Disabling Fullscreen mode in the launcher makes it possible to start STO, then I can switch to fullscreen from the in-game options.
Annoying, but it works for now.

The game was also freezing on certain transitions for me (for example changing Quadrant or, in Echoes of Light, going from Mission Space to the Planet caused the game to freeze, but going from Sector Space to Planet or from Login Screen to anything did not)

I went into "Options", and saw that under "Advanced", it was limiting Video Memory to 128mb, instead of using all 2GB. I changed this to "1024+ mb", did several things which have had causing the game to hang and have not had any issues since. (Yet) :)

Same problem, tells me my drivers are out of date, then crashes when trying to use default or lowered settings. I've been having trouble with the game for over a year in some sort of fashion and it's because I use AMD. Please fix your amd support.

The support people tell me that is a known issue and they are working on it, this is the transcription of the ticket:

    ello,

This ticket has been escalated to me. There is a known compatibility issue with the latest 16.9 and above Crimson drivers and our Cryptic games, where they are reporting either an out of date or incompatible hardware. Our engineers are looking into if this can be resolved on our end, but so far the only way to resolve this is to either ignore the message or roll back to a previous version of the Crimson drivers: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous?os=Windows 10 - 64

Has anyone gotten anything new on this? I have tried all the workarounds (will not roll back drivers for this game though, sorry) ad i get the client has stop working message as well when i try to log in. Pretty crappy that they would take so long to repair such a huge issue.

after another prob seems to have been dealt with, I'm getting the same now as well. both options result in gameclient.exe stopped working, after installing crimson 16.12.2. why can't cryptic get this straightened out? as a lifer, I find it unacceptable, as I'm sure other do as well

No the problem is not because you use outdated Drivers it is because you use to new Drivers.

A few Days back i reverted just for the fun of it to Drivers from 2015 earliest Win 10 i could find and voila no more outdated Drivers issue.

Either the Drivers do not recognize the Crimson and Relive Drivers or they just plain do make a revision check based on the three digit code.
Problem there is both the newer drives are now down to a two digit version that so yes lower numbers must be older right?

Unless Cryptic is spending programmer time on it this wont go away, as it certainly is not a Driver issue on AMD side.

Mine gives me the "drivers are out of date" notification, but I have experienced no crashes. I've always been running on DX 11 since it came out.
