Since Saturday afternoon, launching STO gives this error, which says that my drivers are out of date:
However, my drivers are Radeon 16.10.2:
This is the latest version, released on the 20th October:

I updated my drivers on Saturday. Ironically, it was not giving this error on Thursday night, Friday night, nor Saturday morning (i.e. before I updated to the drivers which had been released on Thursday)
Graphics card is AMD Radeon R9 270X

I am constantly surprised at how many steps down Cryptic is able to take this game engine. I have built 3 computers since this game launched and every single one of them (running AMD GPU's) has had issues that you just have to live with. Every single major update seems to have some new game crashing glitch.
I can't even run this game for more than 20 mins in DX11 without the game crashing. Its sad that the only way i can even play this game is by using a 12 year old graphics API, and just turning effects on/off until i find that magic combination of suckage and apathy. I always just get fed up with the technical problems and walk away for 6 months to a year at a time. But i always come back, hoping beyond hope that they have somehow managed to make their game work properly. Sadly, i am always disappointed. In this case, i have a R9 390X with 16.10.2 drivers.
I've got a AMD Radeon R9 380
Drivers are up to date (16.10.2)
The launcher claims the drivers are outdated, and when I try to launch anyway, GameClien.exe crashes.
also shut off the on demand patching as well as turned on the reduced file streaming had a positive effect as well.

Disabling Fullscreen mode in the launcher makes it possible to start STO, then I can switch to fullscreen from the in-game options.
Annoying, but it works for now.
I went into "Options", and saw that under "Advanced", it was limiting Video Memory to 128mb, instead of using all 2GB. I changed this to "1024+ mb", did several things which have had causing the game to hang and have not had any issues since. (Yet)
Got a family member with the same problem. Anyone come up with a solution yet?
ello,
This ticket has been escalated to me. There is a known compatibility issue with the latest 16.9 and above Crimson drivers and our Cryptic games, where they are reporting either an out of date or incompatible hardware. Our engineers are looking into if this can be resolved on our end, but so far the only way to resolve this is to either ignore the message or roll back to a previous version of the Crimson drivers: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous?os=Windows 10 - 64

No the problem is not because you use outdated Drivers it is because you use to new Drivers.
A few Days back i reverted just for the fun of it to Drivers from 2015 earliest Win 10 i could find and voila no more outdated Drivers issue.
Either the Drivers do not recognize the Crimson and Relive Drivers or they just plain do make a revision check based on the three digit code.
Problem there is both the newer drives are now down to a two digit version that so yes lower numbers must be older right?
Unless Cryptic is spending programmer time on it this wont go away, as it certainly is not a Driver issue on AMD side.
