An excellent finish to the week of giveaways, Cryptic! Bravo! I know people are pointed towards T6 ships mostly now. But I purchased the Avenger class when it first came out. This wonderfully ugly, highly functional ship was and remains a joy to play. At the time it was released, the Avenger class felt like the only Federation ship which was truly designed for a combat prioritized environment such as STO is. I can clearly remember when the orbital space around ESD had large numbers of Avengers in it.
The T'Varo and the B'rel are both ships I have become interested in acquiring lately. I do not have either one but was planning on getting them later on this year. Now I can enjoy them early. At 54, I may not have the reflexes to fly them well. But I am going to do my best anyways.
Congratz on the seventh. Here's hoping there is a seventieth, however unlikely this may be. Thanks for the ships and the other stuff (which I did not realize I wanted, lol).
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
I kind of wonder why the Avenger rather then the T5 Tactical Escort to match the KDF and Rom ships?
(Or the Mogh and Mogai for the KDF and Rom to match the Fed Avenger?)
The Tactical escort versions are most likely among their biggest sellers (Defiant fanboys). And I suspect the Mogh and Mogai might also be pretty successful in sales (Mogh was a very solid KDF ship at a time KDF wasn't getting many ships and Mogai is a pretty well known canon design).
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Although I have a hard time imagining that the majority of Romulans does not already have the T'varo with it being part of the LoR starterkit (and bit kit of course).
Yeah I know its free so no critics allowed and all. Actually the whole game is free to play.
But I find these giveaways always a slap in the face of people who actually DO buy these things in STO.
The game cannot live without PAYING customers. Those people are the real investors contributing to the devs salary's.
Many paying people already have these give away items because they bought them.
So why only please people who don't spend money to the fullest. They for sure have not yet bought any of these items.
Why not just give some free ZEN so every one can enjoy the give away equally and get what ever they like for free (or save it for later if they already have everything)? Or if that is a problem why not create some nice new items to give away?
Would be great if the community manager would share Cryptic's opinion in this.
Really? REALLY? You realize that for every person the hasn't bought these ships already, Cryptic is giving up $75. Per person!
Cryptic is just giving away $75 worth of content and you find that to be a slap in the face (a far too overused phrase that's begun to lose its meaning) to those that have them already? The things came out 2 years ago. There has to be a balance. They have to make sure that the opportunity cost isn't too high so those PAYING customers still have something to spend their money on while giving away something desirable enough to get more players to become PAYING customers.
So why only please people who don't spend money to the fullest.
Let's clarify this. The prizes on off from the 7th Anniversary do not exclusively consist of (unpredictable) c-store handouts. For example, we had spec points, tech upgrades, and shipyard capacity upgrades. There is also an omega scanning event in progress and a new T6 event ship on offer. If you feel left out because semi-irrelevant T5 ships were given away today, and old uniforms earlier in the week, you can feel included by any one of these other events. If they don't satisfy you either, then I don't see where one or two additional freebies would possibly get you.
Also, if you're worried about the financial stability of the game, you're not likely to make things better by giving away free money in preference to c-store giveaways that can't possibly be factored in any purchasing decision (in being so infrequent and unpredictable on an item-to-item basis.)
^Also this
So the MORE money someone spends on STO the LESS chance someone has to claim a free give away, is absolutely fair and logical? Non-paying customers are valued more then paying customers makes all the sense?
More common practice in business is to give more benefits the more money a customer spends. Hence my suggestions as freebee: some free ZEN or some newly created items just for the celebration event. Then always everyone gets the same share of the "cake". What is wrong with that?
PS: This is not an egocentric remark, I made this remark for the benefit of ALL. Paying and non-paying customers. So why the resistance against something that make sense if you think it through? Of course I am also happy for the people who did not have the ships and now got them etc. But if I throw a party I make sure there is cake for every one :-)
If you claimed the B'Rel Retrofit with a lifetime/gold Tier 5 ship voucher, you won't be able to claim the discounted ship.
However, it's worth your time dismissing the ship you got with the voucher, and claiming the ship that's now free. This is because on future characters, you'll then be able to get the 'bought' B'Rel, and use your voucher for something else.
Just thought this might be useful to some people, as it's kind of non-obvious.
Quality ships for all three factions - a very handsome gift indeed! Thanks, Cryptic (from an LTS and a paying customer who somehow does not feel "slapped in the face" by giveaways.)

To those complaining that you bought all these ships and feel you're entitled for MORE Zen. These people will never be happy even if they had acquired everything in the lobi store. It's not our fault you bought them. You should be happy that you acquired them early. You can already get zen from your lifetime or through Arc. Stop being GREEDY. If you want a game that treats Subs with gimmicky items for only paying consumers. Play SWTOR. They have it in abundance.
Also you did have your 'cake'. Two ship slots, Five dry docks, and the Research items (that I am sure everyone would find useful no matter how much money you have spent). Get the Zen through Dil, Arc, Sub, or Lifetime. And not looking for hand-me-outs under the pretense of having the well-being of all players. Especially after guilt tripping Non-paying customers/Less-paying customers and insinuating that the big spenders are victims.

The purpose of these giveaways is not to reward those who pay in to the game. Like just about every other game, STO exists for two purposes: 1) To provide a fun product for people to play, and 2) To make money.
People who pay in are most likely going to continue to do so at a fairly predictable interval, with spikes in sales coming from discounts, special events, and sales on merchandise.
The purpose of the giveaways is to draw in new customers and entice people who rarely pay in or have never paid in to start doing so. It's a mindset of "This is just a sample of what we have for sale. If you like it, consider purchasing more."

Things I want in STO:
1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!
So these 3 ships are the only giveaway all weekend?
Yeah - and i think it's sensible - they are the best part of this giveaway and people always asked for more time to claim ships - because "1 day is too short to bring my level 10 toon up to level 50", or " because i work this day"... or whatever.
Oh well i personally have also skipped some giveaways, because i was away from computer at that time, so, more fun to all players.
I'm relieved this one is valid through Monday morning. I have a bit more play time to get my Romulan leveled enough to grab her T'Varo. I want the console to put on my T'Liss.
(/\) Exploring Star Trek Online Since July 2008 (/\)
T'Liss? I thought it can only be put on T5 Tvaro and T6 Malem?
...
Oh T'Liss is T1 so, - a joke right?
Edit:
My bad - you saying about T6 Temporal T'Liss from new Lockbox (or some Promo - i don't remember exactly)... yeah, it can be equipped on that one...
I wonder if they will ever be generous enough to fix the costume bug with the b'rel that uses the lower tier costume on the fleet brels and the t6 b'rel that only works on that freebie one lol.
So, just one of these years, I hope Cryptic decides to forego the giveaways and free items. These items should inspire gratitude and thankfulness, but instead they do nothing but irritate people and bring the worst out of many.
Beware, my colleagues, the age of the "free trophy for all" has never been more prevalent!
Take your "I already bought that" and your "it wasn't available long enough for me" lousy excuses and whines and shove them right where you keep your thumbs! I'm sick of the whining!
Oh, and, thanks again, Cryptic! Honestly love the game and your consideration during the giveaways! Sincerely!

The Plasma Destabilizer console can be equipped on any T'liss or T'varo Warbird variant in any console slot. Thus making one's Tier 1 T'Liss perform closer to canon if a player so chooses.

DAMNIT!!! now im gonna have to role a rom toon just so i can go all BoT on someones hiney lol
Thank you for the B'Rel and Avenger (the T'Varo and refit were very early purchases for me, when I joined when LoR came out. As I have said in each of these threads, "Thank you, Cryptic! Very generous and appreciated!"
I admit I was hoping the ships would be T5 stripped-down, non-Temporal Connies, D-7's and T'Lisses, but I'm very grateful for what we have.
I am a sad Romulan. I created 3 new characters, Federation, Romulan and Klingon, because of your promotion, but it won't let me have the ships.... then I noticed a LEVEL restriction. I have to be level 60 to get the ships, don't I? There is NOTHING in the giveaway that notifies me, a new player, of this restriction. Honestly, this kinda really sucks. This sucks even more because I am a streamer being all hopped up on unification adrenaline - twitch.tv/ninjanezumi

Not level 60, but level 50 - if you read the description of the ships in Zen Store, you will notice that you need to be Vice Admiral (thats level 50) for Fed and Rom one, and equivalent of KDF (i don't remmber exactly how it's called).
One of first thing most new players needs to learn is to have at last one toon at level 50 for each faction - the sooner the better, for exactly such situations like now...
I really appreciated the ships. I had them on some, didn't have them on others, can't get them on some, but I did have toons at lvl 50 in each faction so I can grab them later on when they level.
I didn't buy any of the packs, don't have the cash to get them, never had, so these giveaways are super-appreciated.
Oh, and I don't feel face-slapped either when I see a giveaway that I already have, I feel happy for those who hadn't gotten them yet and can now get them.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
Another giveaway that makes me happy. The Avenger and B'rel I was always eyeing for sometime, pondering to get. I already had the T'varo, from the Legacy of Romulas starter pack, though, but 2 outta 3, or even 1 outta 3 ain't bad, I think.

Work your characters up to Level 11, use EC from a wealthy character to buy an assorted number of Temporal, Mirror, and 23c Research Assignments on the Exchange along with a good assortment of purple and blue DOFFs, move them over to the newer characters, and start your Research Assignments on them. They only take 4 hours to complete per cycle, and you'll level them up in very short order. Keep at it and there's no way you can't get to 50 in a day.
